22.01.2022 4th Grade round 6 ONE DAY Darlington Vs Ascot at North Swan Oval A pretty short write up for us this week unfortunately with only one performance that was worth a mention. ... Ascot batted first and straight from the start our bowling wasnt on song. With windy overcast conditions which usually suit us, we just could not keep the pressure on. Ascot batting well and putting on 99 for their first wicket until N.Lovell was introduced to the attack and picked up the breakthrough wicket. I cant really put into words how unlucky we were in the field in terms of balls just missing the fieldsmen. N.Lovell didnt just stop there and kept picking up a wicket almost every over finishing up the absolute stand out of the bowlers with 5 wickets for only 22 runs from his 8 overs. Ascot finished up 7-241 (with an 18 run penalty due to slow over rate, thanks to 25 wides) Our turn to bat and and from the start again we just didnt bring our A game. Losing early wickets and not valuing our wicket. D.Gall was the lone hand making 23 and copping a very unlucky decision against him. We were bowled out for just 81. Not a whole lot to say but a good kick up the butt we needed to get back into one day mode. Next week will be a different story. Darlington vs Bullsbrook d grade We travelled to Ellenbrook this week to take on top of the table Bullsbrook. Wokky lost the toss and bullsbrook put us into bat. Openers Rob and Jamie got us off to a excellent start before being interrupted by rain for 5 minutes. Back on the ground Rob chopped one on off a rare pullshot. Bringing Kane in to bat. Thats where things went south for Bully. Kane was seeing the ball like watermelons hitting some big 6s and 4s. Jamie also hitting 1 six before being bowled for 42. Captain Wok next to the crease batting with Kane. Kane dismissed for 60, with a strike rate over 200. Wokky kept the scoreboard rolling reaching his 2nd half century this year with 57. Bottom half of the batting line up struggled though but Salty and Matt Lilley holding out at the end seeing us not all out @9/201 off 39 overs. Setting a decent target for Bullsbrook to chase we knew we still had a lot of work to do as Bullsbrook have a strong batting line up and had not been bowled out all year. Wokky and Jamie opened the bowling, both claiming 2 wickets for little runs. Kane and Rob next inline with ball, with Rob claiming 4 wickets, thanks to a absolute gem of a catch by Jamie at mid wicket and Kano unlucky not to get one. Then a assisted (Yes assisted) run out for Sammy and Wok. Then on comes Sammy aka game changer, pew pew, Fabio, dollar bills....... getting 2 wickets off his 5 balls. We got Bullsbrook all out for 118. Absolute excellent effort with the bat this week guys, followed up by a all round team performance in the field... Standouts with bat were Kane 60, Wok 57 and Jamie 42. Rob 4/34 (7), Sammy 2/1(0.5), Wok 2/16 (8) and Jamie 2/24 (8)

18.01.2022 4th grade Round 4 week 1/2 Darlington Vs Carlisle at North Swan Oval D.Berryman lost the toss and Carlisle decided to bowl first (much to our delight). We recruited M.Foot back into the team and decided to send him in to open with B.Rac. Both of them got off to a great start making our best first wicket partnership to date of 62 before M.Foot misjudged a leave and got bowled on a very well made 42. K.Hutton came out but quickly departed as he accidentally played over the top...Continue reading

17.01.2022 4th grade Round 3 week 2/2 Darlington vs Leederville at Brittania Reserve Week two meant it was our turn to bowl now and the weather was just as hot as the first week. The boys had to bring their A game again coming up against a good batting side who scored over 400 the game before. A.Shaw and H.Waqas got the ball rolling again and bowled their best opening spells each to date (from the wrong ends to begin with oops) with A.Shaw getting the first wicket of the day in the fou...Continue reading

16.01.2022 Wishing our DCCC family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. See you back at training on Monday 6th Jan.

16.01.2022 PRE SEASON TRAINING BEGINS! Hello everyone! It’s been awhile in between posts during the off-season. But it’s about to get busy again! ... That’s right! It’s almost here. Pre season training will begin on the 2nd of September . So it’s time to pull out your old whites and training gear from your kits (that have probably not left your kit since the last game of the season ) chuck them in the wash and get ready! Both teams had a great last season even with the abrupt end (thanks covid) so hopefully everyone is itching to get back into it. There will also be announcements on our wind up/trophy presentations coming up too!

15.01.2022 TRAINING REMINDER Were back at training tomorrow everyone! I hope youre all rested and ready to get into the business end of the cricket season! Finals are just around the corner and after both of our sides finishing with the flags last season it would be great if we could pump up our training numbers and really push hard now.

14.01.2022 MATCH UPDATES 4th Grade - Round 2 week 1/2 Darlington vs City Beach at North Swan Oval... Lost the toss again and were sent in to bowl first. We were missing a couple of our key players for this week so the pressure was on the boys to bowl long, good spells. D.Berryman (C) and B.Rac opened the bowling and started off strong. D.Berryman had both openers out early leaving them 2/25. B.Rac then broke through as a partnership was just starting to build at 3/42. City Beach then finally got a partnership happening thanks to 4 dropped catches in the early and middle session (fielding training Wednesday lads) until D.Gall chimed in with some great bowling taking 2 quick wickets leaving them now 6/112. With the boys hungry to take more wickets the chances came but again a couple more dropped catches really hurt us and allowed City Beach to reach 8/199 at the end of the 70 overs. We even had a pitch invader, a roughly 6ft Dugite which D.Berryman (snr) expertly guided away into a childrens playground. Dont worry though, no children were present at the time. Everyone deserves a mention in the bowling stats due to how well everyone bowled. B.Rac - 17 overs 1 wicket 57 runs D.Berryman (C) 21 overs 3 wickets 39 runs Waqas - 9 overs 1 wicket 21 runs D.Gall - 18 overs 3 wickets 54 runs R.Mann 5 overs for 24 runs D Grade Round 3 Darlington vs Mt Lawley Darlington travelled to Mt Lawley for game 3. We won the toss and sent them into bat. Some wayward bowling and poor fielding seen Mt Lawley get to drinks 0 wickets down for 90+ runs. We had a chat and turned things around claiming quick wickets to have them all out in the 37th over for 172... Into bat we went and things from the get go werent good with opener Jamie out very 1st ball of the innings. Wickets fell consistently for little runs, before Salvatore came in and showed the whole team how to value there wicket, top scoring with 20 not out. We ended the day 8/106. Taking our first loss for the season. Things to work on guys is valuing our wicket, fielding was quite poor (first 20 overs), and short wide bowling. Well done to Salvatore Lenzo, unbeaten 20 on a hot day with a very chirpy opposition

14.01.2022 MATCH UPDATE Week 2/2 Darlington vs Midland 4th grade ... Play resumed with us being 3/13. D.Berryman (C) and W.Harris looked to steady the ship for 15 overs until some tight bowling made D.Berryman (C) knick off going for a cut shot on 17 leaving us 4/49. K.Hutton returned and looked solid as ever building another start with W.Harris however W.Harris lobbed a cut shot straight to cover and had to depart. H.Waqas - 5 was runout by a great piece of fielding after he was looking like he was on for a big score. D.Gall was then caught off a leading edge for 12 after he was just starting to settle in. This then allowed A.Shaw (VC) to come out and put on an extremely resilient lower end fight back with K.Hutton making 23 before he was bowled looking to drive. Leaving us 8/109. R.Mann made a quick 5 however putting on a 22 run partnership then D.Berryman (snr) freeing up the arms for quick fire 10 before he was out LBW leaving us all out for 155. A.Shaw (VC) finished 43no and was the stand out in the batting. With Darlington being bowled out early this then gave Midland the chance to have another bat to chase some extra points. This however backfired for Midland and our bowlers looking to make amends for last week put on an absolute clinic leaving Midland 8/98 at the end of the days play. H.Waqas finished up with figures of 1/17 off 5 overs. W.Harris 2/31 off 4. D.Berryman (C) 2/10 off 5 overs. B.Rac 2/26 off 5. And D.Gall came ever so close to claiming his hatrick but finished up with 1/7 off 1. We may have lost first innings however the fight back was great and the boys will take a ton of confidence into the next game. Game 2 D Grade Darlington vs University at North Swan. We won the toss and sent University into bat. Both openers bowled really well with Jamie scalping 3 wickets off his 8 overs for 8 runs consisting of 4 maidens. Captain Wok getting his first wicket for the year. Having away team on the back foot at 4 for 30 odd a bit of a dry spell seen them get to 5 for 80+ before Lillee claiming 2 wickets, Kane Young got his first wicket for the club, Jason Griffiths 2 wickets for 3, a run out from Sam saw them all out for 97. Leeksy keeping this week with 3 catches and a stumping. Openers Jamie and Lillee needed to bat for 3 overs before arvo tea seeing the overs out to be 0/10. After tea, Lilley looked good before being bowled for 4. Muneeb joined Jamie batting really well for his 6. Salty next in with 11 before Yohan seeing out the win with 3 n.o and Jamie Hogan n.o for 61 including 3 sixes and 6 fours.. We ended the game in 23rd over with 3/98. Great all round team performance from everyone with the stand out of Jamie with ball and bat. 2 games 2 wins for D Grade, excellent start to the season.

13.01.2022 Following on from a great performance by Rob Cross with the ball this year and taking out the Association bowling Ave Darlington has another Player taking out the Batting Agg & Ave plus the Champion player for 4th grade - Congratulations to Damien Berryman on a outstanding season all round

03.01.2022 4th Grade - Round 2 week 2/2 Darlington vs City Beach at North Swan Oval Chasing 200 to win B.Rac and K.Hutton got the show going against a very nicely opinionated opposition. After looking very solid for the first 8 overs of the game taking the shine off the ball, B.Rac (3) was caught @ 1/12. This brought D.Berryman (C) to the crease. K.Hutton and D.Berryman were ticking along nicely making a combined 40 run partnership until K.Hutton edged one behind on 14. Leaving us 2/5...2. W.Harris was promoted up the order and started to make easy work of the City Beach bowling attack with both batsmen picking off singles, fours and sixes with ease much to the oppositions audibly heard frustration. After a healthy partnership of 80 was forming D.Berryman (C) was given out on 65 caught and bowled off a somewhat controversial decision. A.Watkins then entered the crease and both batsmen continued to make easy work on the chase until W.Harris was bowled on 75 looking for quick runs. A.Shaw (19) and A.Watkins (43) chased down the remaining 12 runs to ensure us a 6 wicket win with ease. We then opted to keep batting to give everyone some time in the middle much to the oppositions once again audibly heard frustration. Darlington batted out the 70 overs finishing up 8 for 280. With Waqas (21no) and A.Lilley (7no) finishing off the day. Great comprehensive win to the Darlington boys with what started out as a great game played in great spirits unfortunately went downhill thanks to a certain few opposition players that decided constant and unnecessary sledging of our batsmen was more important then actually playing the game. Darlington vs Lesmurdie D Grade rd 4. We travelled to Lesmurdie and lost the toss, which resulted in us bowling first. Openers Jamie and Shane bowled really well, with Wilko claiming 2 wickets off his 8, Jamie 0/10 off his 8. Then Kane came on 1st change claiming 4 wickets off his 8, cementing his spot in the bowling. Captain from the other end with 1 wicket also. Vinnie then claiming his 1st wicket in lower grade. And Griffo with the standard 2 wickets off his overs. I want to say what a change in the fielding compared to last week. Muneeb and Yohan with a catch each, Wok with a good catch, but Salvatore with 2 very difficult catches. We restricted the away team to be all out for 119. Then into bat we went, both openers out fairly cheaply, bringing Vincent Berryman (aka Hollywood) into bat with a good 48 with not too much support around him with batters. We got the win though with 6/124 off 32 overs. Standouts this week Vinnie with bat 48, and Kane killing it with the ball with 4/21 off his 8. Well done boys, extremely proud of the effort in the field today.

02.01.2022 2019/2020 Captains and Vice captains have been voted in and announced! For our top side - Damo Berryman has been voted Captain along with Andrew Shaw for Vice Captain. For our One Day side - Adam Wok again takes the reins for the squad with Shane Wilken as Vice Captain. ... Congratulations to the above mentioned guys and lets follow up our double premiership season with a strong start to this season

02.01.2022 4th grade Round 4 week 2/2 Darlington Vs Carlisle at North Swan Oval Week 2 and now it was our turn to bowl. Waqas and Andy S opened the bowling as usual and did what they usually do bowling good pace and lines. Carlisle batted very patiently seeing out 81 runs for the 1st wicket however very lucky to survive that long with an LBW that should and been given and a caught behind that also was not given. However after the 1st wicket partnership was broken, wickets started to tu...Continue reading

01.01.2022 MATCH UPDATES 4th Grade Game 1 - Week 1/2 Darlington vs Midland at Swan View oval... Darlington lost the toss and Midland selected to bat first. Midland were extremely aggressive all day and had a strong start until B.Rac got the breakthrough in the 19th over with Midland 1/81. A brilliant 2nd session by D.Berryman (C) 3/28 from 10 and B.Rac 3/72 from 14 pulled Midland back to 6/136. However a few very close chances and some loose bowling allowed midland to claw their way back to 7/255 until W.Harris 1/22 from 6 and D.Gall 2/0 from 0.3 (on a Hatrick) combined and finished up Midlands innings for 291. Since we bowled Midland out before 5pm we were then sent in to bat. V.Berryman and B.Rac were given the hard task of facing out the remaining 25 minutes and after looking very solid were both dismissed leaving us 2 down. A.Watkins also departed leaving D.Berryman (C) 6no and W.Harris 0no to see out the remaining overs. Leaving us 3/13 trailing by 278 runs. D Grade Game 1 Darlington vs Glen Forest Darlington lost the toss and was sent in to bat first. Andrew Lilley opening for his first time ever with Jamie Hogan off to a good start before Jamie hit one straight to a fielder. A couple of wickets fell in quick succession before Shane Wilken came into bat. Top scoring for the team and with his best score to date with 65no Shane steadied the ship losing partners for little runs along the way. We saw out our 40 overs ending with 7/133 After the break captain Adam and Jamie opened the bowling. Bowling well from both ends we had the openers dropped 4 times before Jamie took the first wicket. Which led to a surge from Jamie taking 4 quick wickets for 24 runs. Then a small drought of no wickets before Sam Di Vincenzo came on taking 3 for 11 and Andrew Lilley taking 2 for 23. Getting the away team all out for 107 (as they only had 10). Standouts in this game were Shane Wilken batting exceptional for his unbeaten 65no. Jamie Hogan 4/24. Sam Di Vincenzo 3/11. Andrew Lilley 2/23.. So congratulations d grade for the first win of the season, but just remember them catches at the start are what can cost us the game
