16.01.2022 join our local community on Anzac Day

16.01.2022 Graham Duell's "Darnum Looking Back and Forward" ceramic sculptures, installed in Main Street just before Australia Day, include themes which came from clay workshops held at Darnum Primary School for the general community and interested school students - so we have crimson rosellas, timber mills, farming and dairy all reflecting Darnum's history and culture. Thanks Regional Arts Victoria, Fonterra and a whole host of generous community volunteers for their contribution...

13.01.2022 BAW BAW SHIRE "have your say" website is your opportunity to say what you'd like for the future of the shire area, and our town. For years there's been talk of remedies for dodgy drainage/plumbing in the area... and many of the young families with teenagers (or soon to be teenagers) would love to have better transport options... for to and from Warragul and/or Trafalgar based schooling... Darnum is the only Baw Baw Shire town ON the freeway which has no train platform... Go on "HAVE YOUR SAY"... make it known what you would like to see happen.... even some walking tracks connecting Rec Reserve to the Freeway Overpass to encourage kids to cycle or walk to school....

10.01.2022 this looks like a great way to explore ...

08.01.2022 Darnum Progress Association needs a new secretary as I have stepped down having been in the role for more than 2 years. What it involves: attendance at 6 meetings per year (every 2nd month) held on Monday evenings 7ish-8.30 ish. taking notes of the meeting and emailing to people. Occasional letters to write (about 3 in 2+ years) . And attending to this FB page. If you would like to know more then please call me on 0408 366 481 to have a chat. I am back at studies, and have other family pressures calling on my time. If you care about local improvements and community then please consider this donation of 2-3 hours every 2nd month to be a possibility. P.S. I am still around and would happily give some orientation/handover assistance.

06.01.2022 The November Issue of Dianne Sargeant's Darnum Community Newsletter is out now! get your copy from the Post Office or General Store! any news for the December issue, please lodge a "hard copy" with Julie at the Post Office.

02.01.2022 We trust you have seen the Darnum Looking Back and Forward sculptures created by Graham Duell ? We are still finalising some information for the foot of each sculpture which tells a bit more about how the sculptures came about and thanking Regional Arts Victoria and Fonterra for their contributions. The Darnum Progress Association needs more people to get involved (we meet just 6 times a year, usually on a Monday evening in the "even numbered" months for an hour or two). Please contact Joanne on 0408 366 481 for more information on how you might help boost the energy level and give fresh eyes on how we can improve our local community's amenity, appearance and create opportunities to work together and get to know each other.

01.01.2022 Hi there locals and others interested in Darnum. Please note that contributions to Dianne Sargeant's monthly Darnum Community Newsletter can be lodged with Julie at the Darnum Post Office (hard copy only.) Also if you have queries about the use of Darnum Memorial Hall Irene Broadbent is the person you need to speak to: her number and the hiring costs are on the noticeboard outside the Hall and the broader community noticeboard (which Irene also controls) outside the General Store. Notices for the broader community noticeboard need to be lodged to the staff of the General Store to pass on to Irene and are posted on the noticeboard if Irene thinks they are suitable. Cheers Joanne Watt
