24.01.2022 Are we more concerned about reach than the quality of content we publish? What are your thoughts, friends? #LinkedIn #Content #marketing

22.01.2022 Yes, I know it’s Monday - but I feel the need to go a little bit deep on y’all! I was diagnosed with depression at the beginning of this year - just before the virus struck, in fact. Which was, ironically, very good timing.... Lockdown gave me an ‘excuse’ to rest, recuperate, and reset. I was able to acknowledge the fears that drove me to burnout last year and depression this. I was finally able to let go of things that really didn’t matter. I eventually re-emerged as a leaner, meaner (okay, I don’t know how to do meaner!) person. Yes, with greater clarity about my professional strengths and weaknesses. But also with greater empathy and compassion for others struggling with mental health issues. So while I wouldn’t wish depression on anyone, I believe I’m a better person for the experience - both personally and professionally. ---------- PS So have I ‘recovered’ from depression? No, not fully. I don’t think recovery is a realistic goal because I think some of us are more ‘depression-prone’ than others. I’d say I’m in recovery - and may always be so. And that's okay. PPS If you’re struggling with mental health issues, please see your doctor. Don’t suffer in silence. You’re not alone. #Depression #Burnout #MentalHealth

13.01.2022 THE DILEMMA I need more customers, Darrel. So what are you currently doing about that, friend?... I’m using LinkedIn Search to find my targets, I’m connecting with them, and then introducing my services to them. And where’s that approach getting you? Nowhere. It’s why I reached out to you! So are you ready to hear the truth? I guess so Well, your positioning is all wrong for starters. You haven’t packaged any of your services. Your content is very salesy. And you’re making zero effort to engage with anyone else’s content. But I don’t have time to do all that! We can get your positioning, packaging and content right together. You concentrate on building relationships. But I need more clients now! And? Surely I need to be more, well, direct? And where’s that approach getting you? Nowhere. It’s why I got in touch with you! So are you ready to hear the truth? Etc., etc. ---------- Friend, if you’re not ready to hear the truth, you won’t like what I have to say ---------- #Linkedintips #marketing #marketingforhumans

11.01.2022 Which movie character best represents you? For me, it has to be ‘Stevesy’ Zissou. In the Wes Anderson movie, ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’, Stevesy (as he’s affectionately named by his ‘probably’ son, Edward ‘Ned’ Plimpton), is an eccentric oceanographer who leads a small band of societal misfits on a quirky aquatic adventure to avenge the death of Stevesy’s best friend, Esteban du Plantier, who died at the hands (or, more accurately, at the teeth) of a ten metre lon...g ‘Jaguar Shark’. I saw the movie when it came out in 2004, and it moved me deeply - while others left the cinema halfway through the movie because they couldn’t relate to it. Or perhaps they couldn’t relate because Stevesy Zissou isn’t your typical male lead. He’s certainly not a Batman or a James Bond or a Christian Grey. And perhaps that’s why I like him. He’s real, flawed, relatable - almost touchable. In other words, the kind of human - and the kind of marketer - I aspire to be. So, back to that first question, friend: Which movie character best represents you? #ZissouSociety #Movies #MarketingForHumans
