24.01.2022 Had a beautiful Jnr ranger day helping teach the next generations of nature’s protectors whilst having fun all at the same time! Lachlan Skinner brother! did great with the organizing! Matt, Dan, Narina, the parents and I gotta agree... The jarjums were doing good learning and happy whilst doing it, so it was a successful day! ... Can’t wait for the next one!!!

18.01.2022 "Coff Harbour Aboriginal Land Council land at Mylestom on the left, had a cultural burn done by Aboriginal Rangers in the first week of September 2020. On the r...ight, 1km up the road, Bongil Bongil National Park burnt in the last week of September 2020 by National Parks. You be the judge! #Aboriginal #culturalburn #nationalpark" From Nathan Brennan look at this! NPWS and even more so RFS often burn too hot. The goal should be looking after the vegetation in a holistic way and creating mosaics rather than just burning the shit out of anything vaguely near somebody's house. Btw as last summer showed the approach in the left is better t preventing and containing big fires anyway!

04.01.2022 Another one from Prime!.. Here you see an example of the way Darrunda Wajaarr Rangers protect and enhance biodiversity with putting in controlled containment lines around nesting areas. We had some positive reassurance after the cultural burn with seeing the mother close by in the next canopy tree keeping an eye on her babies. (Yes eggs were present in the nest and the mother has returned to nurture them). It's important to not burn all of the land and to keep some areas a...s refuges for small insects and animals to go to and remain safe and healthy. It's also important that tree hollows and hollow logs are protected from the burn to preserve natural habitat. The cool cultural burn will only burn the top surface of fuel from the land, the humus layer below the surface and micro-organisms therein it are left unburnt and unharmed. The Mix of Ash and Non ash areas make for a diversity of mineral rich soils which can provide a nurturing environment for some native seeds to germinate, our dream is to bring back a good balance of native plants which we may have not seen for a while due to fire being kept from some lands that need fire.
