15.01.2022 Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions are now in place for the Towong Shire. There are only 4 reasons to leave home, and if you’re out you must wear a face covering. If you have symptoms, get tested then stay home. We can’t fight this virus alone. We need you to play your part. Staying apart, keeps us together. ... 08.01.2022 A record 51 aircraft will hit Victorian skies to help fight fires and keep communities safe this summer season. The 2020-21 aircraft fleet includes a mix of w...ater bombing aircraft, air supervision and air intelligence-gathering aircraft. Two Large Air Tankers, which can carry up to 15,000 litres of water, foam or retardant, and two 7500-litre Aircranes, will contribute to the 51 aircraft in the core-fleet and provide essential support to other aircraft across the state.

02.01.2022 Forest Fire Management Victoria staff are currently assessing further damage to fire-affected roads and tracks in the Upper Murray following recent flash floodi...ng. Approximately 200 millimetres of rain and snow has fallen across parts of the fireground during the past week, significantly impacting roads and tracks in the Nariel and Thowgla Valleys. Thirty-six road crossings have been damaged including 15 bridges, 10 large culverts, and log crossings. A number of roads and tracks are not safe to drive on due to the impact of debris and sediment flows following the rain. This damage has delayed crews from completing rehabilitation works in the fire affected area. Key roads and tracks impacted by the bushfires and flash flooding events include Walkers Road, Dunstans Road, Wheelers Road and Buenba Road. Crews and contractors will commence works to repair land slips and culvert and bridge damage in the coming weeks. More than 300km of hazardous tree works have been completed along forest roads and crews will continue with this work along Wheelers Road, Marginal Road and Dead Finish Track. Recreational sites impacted by the bushfires and flash flooding are also being assessed and may take some time to reopen. All works will continue to comply with Victorian Department of Health & Human Services requirements and prioritise the safety of the Victorian community as well as our staff. Fire-affected areas in the Upper Murray, including roads and tracks, are likely to remain closed until after winter, to minimise risk to the public and reduce the amount of silt and dirt washed into rivers and streams.
