24.01.2022 Happy New Year everybody! Yesterday a Facebook memory popped up from NY 2019, it said that I had photographed 50 newborn sessions with 15 of them being twins. I then did a 'stock-take' of the shoots that I had done in 2020, being unable to work for over 6 months of the year I photographed only 22 babies (4 sets of twins). It got me thinking about how I survived the year, not just money (luckily I was able to get jobkeeper) but more importantly psychologically. I thought it mi...ght be interesting to share how I coped during the lock downs. I kept myself busy with my camera, unfortunately my children are not keen to be my subjects anymore so birds became my muse. I have decided to share some of those photos over the next week :-) Firstly here is a male helmeted Guinea Fowl looking out and protecting his harem. 23.01.2022 Hi everybody! Well I don't know about you but I have been in a bit of a slump lately, I am not going to lie, not being able to shoot has been very hard. I am reassured though that I am doing the best thing for the little lives that I cuddle. This week I am launching a blog post about taking your own newborn photos at home using your phone. There will be a separate one about twins as I know I have a lot of twin mums following this page. ... On Friday I will be starting a Flash Back Friday post, sharing a newborn photo of a baby I have photographed along with their current photo. If I have photographed your child I would love to be able to share a current photo of them so send one through messenger! Lastly if you see my images pop up in your feed, give me a like, share or comment. This serves two reasons, firstly it will keep my page on the good side of the FB algorithms so that when I can work again I will hopefully not be too effected. I put my heart and soul into the pictures I take, it can be such an anxious time putting my photos out there for others to see. 20.01.2022 A little behind the scenes from me! I often have animal friends by my side while I edit. Today’s editing friend is ‘Smalls’ he is a starling I rescued and hand raised from a 2 day old chick, he found a forever home with me My other animal friends who often sit with me while I edit are my chickens, parrots or the kids guinea pigs! We also have fish, hermit crabs and stick insects but they aren’t quite as cuddly! Feel free to show me your animal friends below!

The great news is that photos can be taken at anytime, it is not too late for photos. The main differences between photos taken of a baby under 2 weeks of age and one older is that they are less curly, more chubby and also more alert. 15.01.2022 Hi everybody! Just a little update from me to let you know behind the scenes things have been a bit intense :-( Obviously restrictions have not been lifted as quickly as we wanted and the 'Road Map' does not seem to be on track. I have been in contact with all clients awaiting session for their babies. I am still hoping to be able to shoot outside when I am allowed to work, I am also likely creating a temporary home studio on the chance I am not allowed to enter homes to phot...ograph. Insurance is also something that I am focusing on and trying to sort out as it is so important, especially in this time. Some good news is that photographers seem to have won the battle to allow our clients to remove their mask while they are being photographed. This is a obviously a big deal for portrait photographers like me :-) Information around COVID19 and restrictions change so quickly so I am at this stage still taking bookings but am not signing contracts or taking deposits until closer to the shoot date. If you are due to have a baby next year please get in contact as March in particular is starting to look very full! I am still planning Christmas session as well as school uniform mini sessions, with more details to follow after Sunday's announcement. Fingers crossed these can go ahead! 07.01.2022 C O V I D - 1 9 U P D AT E DART NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. It is with heavy heart that I have to announce the temporarily closure of my business. I am no longer taking bookings of due dates before July 2020. As someone in an at risk category it is simply too dangerous for me to continue shooting at the moment. ... I am implementing some strategies over the next week which will hopefully mean that families with newborns can still capture some squishy fresh photos of their new babies. This will include blog posts and some online videos on some simple techniques to DIY some gorgeous photos yourself. I will also be available by appointment to communicate via facetime/skype while you are taking your own photos, giving you some hints, tips and encouragement! This will all be FREE of charge :-) Later in the year I will be releasing family mini sessions, these are very popular and I will open up a full 2 weeks of these sessions instead of 1 week. While I haven't worked out details yet they will be very affordable. Lots of small businesses are going to suffer over the following months. I highly urge you all to continue supporting your favorite local small businesses. If you can, use their services when the pandemic blows over. If you are not in a financial situation there are other really simple ways you can help.... - Like, comment and share small businesses posts and their page. - Tag friends and family in posts you think they might enjoy. - If friends and family are looking for services that you know a local small business provides, recommend them. - If you have used their services jump on google, facebook ect and give them a 5 star rating and a nice testimonial. - Email or message the small business and check in with them. I know that times like this will be very depressing for a lot of people and that is why I will continue to post lots of baby pictures on here and on instagram, I usually only share 1-2 images from a session so I have LOTS of never before seen photos to put smiles on your faces! I am not closing my business completely, I will be doing lots behind the scenes work getting ready for when the time comes that I can sling my trusty camera around my neck again! 06.01.2022 In case you have been living under a rock... I am able to shoot again!!! Michaela here is 11 weeks old, we captured beautiful awake photos of her as well as some stunning sleepy photos <3 <3 <3 I have lots of emails and messages recently about Christmas sessions, I am was going to launch them this weekend but have been flat out catching up on the babies who missed out on their newborn session. 03.01.2022 OPEN FOR BOOKINGS! I'M BACK BABY! After contacting what feels like ALL the government agencies, I have been given the go ahead to resume shooting! On their recommendations things will need to be done differently for the time being, the safety of my clients and their new babies always has been my number one priority. Consequently to reduce risk, I am introducing 'NO TOUCH' newborn sessions with some new polices and protocols. ... - Currently there are only 5 reasons in Victoria for leaving your home, this does not include photography BUT because I travel to you, photos can be legally taken in the safety of your home! - Social Distancing has proven that it is effective at stopping the virus and so I have implemented this in my business. I will be able to shoot staying 1.5m away at all times using a long lens (for those wondering, a 100mm 2.8 canon L). This lens means I can stand quite far back but still be able to take photos as if I was close up. - To keep baby safe only parents will be handling baby, I will prepare everything while mum or dad cuddle baby to sleep, they then place baby down on my blanket for me to take photos. This sounds daunting but I promise it is not difficult. I even have a pretend baby doll I will be using to show you where to pop baby and how to wrap baby! - Regardless of if I am touching baby or not I feel it is important that I do absolutely everything in my power to keep baby safe, so I will voluntarily be wearing a mask during sessions. - Hand hygiene is vitally important, I have a good supply of hand sanitizer. This part of my business hasn't changed much! - All items used on baby as well as my camera gear is sanitised between families. - I will be introducing a new COVID-19 contract, with a health declaration. Temperatures will be taken with a digital forehead thermometer before the session. All sessions will be postponed, no questions asked, with no charge due to illness. Even slight sings of illness will mean sessions will be postponed, rest assured that while I try and shoot babies before 2 weeks of age I have lots of success with older babies as well. There is no 'golden age' for newborn photos. - On the governments advice I have downloaded the COVID-safe app and recommend all my clients to also download it to help trace just in case another client did end up positive. 03.01.2022 Did you hear?? Dart Newborn is shooting again! Here we have little Charley, she was awake towards the end of her photo shoot and had the BEST expressions :-)... Currently newborn shoots are following social distancing guidelines and are 'No Touch', parents handle baby and I shoot using a long close up lens from a distance back. 02.01.2022 WATCH THIS SPACE! COVID-19 update. These are such strange times, I would like to reassure all my clients that I am doing absolutely everything in my power to run my business as safely as possible. I have completed the government learning on COVID-19. I will be asking all clients if they are well, if they have traveled recently and if they have been in contact with anyone who is unwell. ... Currently I am still shooting and I am following all guidelines to the letter. This could change at any time and potentially I will not be able to continue shooting. For those clients who no longer want to go ahead with their session I will be refunding what they have paid no questions asked. For some clients I will be able to postpone their session. I will guarantee sleeping baby photos up to 4 months of age, I often photograph older babies between 4-16 weeks old and so I am very skilled at this age. For these photos babies will be wrapped and minimally posed but we can still take beautiful photos. I will be releasing a blog post on this next week with some more information. For all new bookings my full session (baby and family) will now be unavailable. My short session (baby only) will still be available, but to abide by the 1.5m social distancing guidelines I will no longer be handling the babies, the photo style will turn into more of a documentary lifestyle. This style of photography is just gorgeous, some of my most favourite photos I have ever taken have been in this style. I will be photographing babies on the master bed or in the nursery and will be asking parents to handle and move the babies for me. I will be using a long lens so I do not need to get too close. I will be wearing an N95 mask and will be using alcoholic hand rub regularly. I will be releasing a blog post on this next week with some more information. For those clients who would like family photos I will be offering outdoor family mini sessions in October and November. This will be very affordable and will be a great add on to those people who book the short session (baby only). 02.01.2022 I'M BACK BABY! Darling 3.5 week old Benjamin was my first social distance 'no touch' session. I think it turned out very well! Mum popped baby on the rug under my instruction and I photographed baby from a distance using a long lens. I am very happy to say that I have been in contact with Business Vic and now know where I stand when it comes to when I will be able to shoot! Photography services are able to open (with restrictions) during step 3 of the Road Map. This will be from 26th of October if all continues to go as planned. I am now taking bookings for newborns with a due date of DECEMBER on wards. If... your baby is due before then please contact me to see availability. Behind the scenes I have been VERY busy working on what to offer when my doors reopen. I am proud to announce that I will be offering my very popular mini sessions again in mid November. There will be two options to choose from, a beautiful garden setting in Clyde or a stunning beach location in Carrum. Mini sessions are a perfect way to update your family photos, document children who missed out on newborn photos during the lock down as well as making awesome presents for family. These shoots are offered to previous clients first and then are open to the public for booking. These sessions fill up VERY quickly so if you would like to be on the VIP list to be one of the first to book please either PM this page or email [email protected]. I understand that many families missed out on school photos this year. I excited to announce that I will be offering affordable school photo shoots in a garden setting in Clyde. Children can be photographed in their school uniform or in casual clothing. More details to follow. I am very much looking forward to seeing all my clients again!
