16.01.2022 Monday Minute With A MemberIntroducing Judy.... 1. How long have you lived in Darwin? As of July 2020 I have lived in Darwin for 25 years 2. What’s your best tip for living in Darwin? SLOW DOWN. Don’t expect to move at the same pace you might in a cooler, less humid climate.... 3. What is your favourite (or top 3) restaurant/café? Favourite restaurant is Hanuman (but PeeWees is the place for very special occasions like wedding anniversaries or ‘big’ birthdays) 4. What was the last book you read and/or listened to? Last book was Lethal White 4th in series of detective novels by Robert Galbraith a bit long at 771 pages. 5. What was the last song/album/music you listened to? ABC Classic is always on the radio. Last full album I listened to uninterrupted was probably Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. 6. Have you binge watched a TV show? which one? Binge watching these days usually includes Octonauts, PJ Masks, Winnie the Pooh movies, Trolls. My bingeing is dictated by the almost-four year old. 7. What do you like to do with your spare time? (or to relax?) Afternoon sleeps.....like I said earlier when you live in the tropics, you learn to SLOW DOWN 8. Do you have a cause/charity/community group you support or are part of? I support Medicines Sans Frontieres they go places and work in situations that are unimaginable to most of us. 9. Do you have a favourite Bible verse? Which one? Psalm 139 in the NRSV it is titled: The Inescapable God 10. How/when do you like to pray? Quietly and often. See more
16.01.2022 Monday Minute with a Member Introducing Andrew..... 1. How long have you lived in Darwin? 16 years. Nearly 5 this time but also from 3 Jan 1964 to 28 Dec 1974 2. What’s your best tip for living in Darwin? ... Get to know it’s people, history and food... Oh... and travel within the NT 3. What’s your favourite or top 3 restaurants/cafes? 1 Hanuman 2 Laneway in Parap 3 Anywhere the Chung Wah Society are serving sartees! Honourable Mentions to Trailer Boat Club, Parap Markets, Foreshore and Himalayan Spices. 4. What was the last book you read? Mutiny on the Bounty by Peter Fitzsimons. Sensational, but every book of his I have loved. 5. What was the last song/album/music you listened to? Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls Gossip. A double album which was a 25th birthday present from me to me. Not a day has passed that I regret this purchase. 6. Have you binge watched a tv show? Which one? Yes (with my wife) - The Good Wife. Our kids were suitably impressed.... proud you might say.... 7 seasons in 7 weeks. We thought we raised pathetic to a new level, but neither of us regrets it. 7. What do you like to do with your spare time or to relax? Read, sudoku, watch documentaries 8. Do you have a cause/charity/community group you support or are part of? No, but I sympathise with breast cancer sufferers and people with heart problems. Oh and lately with mental health. 9. Do you have a favourite Bible verse? Which one? No, I tried for many years and asked people close to me this question, but nothing resonated long term. I discovered that I like the stories and that any insights were welcome. Bible study groups always play a part in this and I think that’s healthy. 10. How/when do you like to pray? Usually when I’m alone, when things are going well or when things are going badly. When I’m thinking of someone or know of a certain circumstance. Time of day doesn’t matter but more often at bedtime. See more
