This boy has been desexed today and has now started a brand new life This means that Harriette is still looking for a home of her own, so please keep sharing her post

11.01.2022 Just wanted to share this fantastic happy ending for one of our wonderful supporters! This really highlights how important it is to have your pet microchipped and keep your contact details up to date! Such a happy reunited family ... (Shared with approval )
10.01.2022 How incredibly heartbreaking is this. So many animals are killed every single day because people can't be bothered to be responsible and desex their pets... people don't keep their pets safe inside people cruelly dump or abandon their loyal pet and so many more pathetic reasons Then those innocent animals find themselves on the streets struggling to survive, ending up in pounds and kill shelters where they are then slaughtered after only a couple of days. The problem is NOT the animal The real problem are PEOPLE and our federal state and local governments who don't care about animals and won't change/enforce laws to protect innocent animals. Please, if you have pets, please be responsible and caring, take care of your pet, love it as it loves you, keep it safe, desex it Basically be a decent human and do the right thing for the animals that rely on you and trust you And if you are looking for a new furry family member, adopt an animal and help them find a real loving home that cares, one that they deserve And PLEASE don't overlook the ones who have plain colours or have disabilities or scars, the ones who aren't 'normal' because usually they are truly amazing as they have already overcome so much in their short lives Please help #EndTheSlaughter Please help save lives
08.01.2022 THANK YOU Met the lovely Reg and Amber this afternoon when they dropped off canned and dry food, litter, paper towels and bleach And an extra special treat for the human servants! ... THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
07.01.2022 Foster home found - thank you Wendy Found all alone huddling on a median strip in a very busy dangerous main road intersection, a very kind lady battled traffic and the scrub to get him to safety. He is eating solids, he didn't want to wait for it to be served, just helped himself he is healthy and purrs like a little engine.... As he is on his own he will need a foster home that is able to be home with him often - working full time won't be what this little man needs - shift work / shorter hours should be ok Being so little he needs lots of cuddles and play time and attention. If you can help foster this little angel please send a message to this page or text 0423 285 642
07.01.2022 Harriette Currently in short term foster, here is what Harriette's foster mum has to say she would really love for Harriette to be adopted before she has to move from Darwin at the end of this month: ... Here’s tiny, delightful little Harriette...!! She’s needing her forever home.....please share... Harriette is five years old yet the size of a kitten. She chats, purrs and loves company, skips around the house with a flick of her tail and sweet little voice telling you where she is. She is independent and likes her chill time, or will chill out, gazing at you as you get about your evening. A little timid at first, yet before long she’s giving head bumps, skipping around you, and inviting a pick up to share some affection. She’ll sleep at the end of the bed, and pop up to say a brief hello and snuggle her head into your hand for a scratch! Can you see her proud little smile, wearing her brand new collar, and soaking up the evening breeze? Harriette is in my foster care for a short while (I can’t keep her given I’m on the move!). She needs her forever home....do you know anyone who can make space for this little cutie in their life? Harriette has been living at Darwin Animal Rescue....can you help her find her person / people please? Can you please share this around? If you would like to meet the sweet Ms Harriette, please contact us for the foster mum's details

06.01.2022 There's just over a week until submissions close on December 4, 2020. Here’s a guide to help you fill out the public survey for the Inquiry into the Greyho...und Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC). 1. Click: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2CKSPFJ 2. Enter your contact details (these won't be shared) and tick the option that says "interested member of public". 3. Under Question 3, "How satisfied are you with the regulation of the greyhound industry by the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission?", tick "Dissatisfied". 4. Under Question 4, "What impacts, positive or negative, have you seen following the creation of the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission?", write: "The creation of the GWIC has been used as a smokescreen to convince residents of NSW that the greyhound industry is well-regulated and prioritising the welfare of greyhounds. In reality, the industry is as cruel and motivated by money as ever. The GWIC itself is not at fault, but is being used by the GRNSW as supposed proof of their concern for welfare. For this reason, the NSW Government must retain and expand the functions of the GWIC while ensuring the GWIC operates independently from GRNSW. At present, the GWIC is too influenced by GRNSW, which places money and the gambling industry above greyhound welfare. As such, GRNSW must not be permitted to directly influence the GWIC regarding policies and procedures as the conflict of interest is too great. Therefore, the funding model for the GWIC must be changed so that the GWIC is totally funded by the NSW Government with the Government recouping the full cost of this funding from Greyhound Racing NSW and the gambling industry via taxation." 5. Under Question 5, "How appropriate is the disciplinary action for those industry participants who breach legal requirements as set out by the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission?", tick "Inappropriate". 6. Under Question 6, "Do you have any comments on the appropriateness of disciplinary action for those industry participants who breach legal requirements as set out by the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission?", write: "The GWIC's penalties are too lenient. The maximum fine for an individual breaking any legal requirements set out by the GWIC is $22,000. In the case of substance-related offences, the maximum penalty has not yet been awarded. In cases like these, the maximum penalty should be awarded to those people who break significant legal requirements pertaining to actions with highly detrimental and/or long-term effects on greyhounds." 7. Under Question 7, "Do you have a view on the options for appeal for those industry participants who breach legal requirements as set out by the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission?", write: "No." 8. Under Question 8, "Do you have a view on the relationship between the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission, Greyhound Racing NSW, and industry participants?", write: "At present, GRNSW has far too great an influence on the GWIC relating to policies and procedures, and this is completely inappropriate. As industry regulator responsible for ensuring that GRNSW and industry participants act in accordance with the legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the greyhound racing industry the GWIC should not be influenced by GRNSW or industry participants whose interest in the industry is often financial. Any attempt by GRNSW and industry participants to directly influence regulations, policies and procedures is totally inappropriate." 9. Under Question 9, "How satisfied are you with the actions, conduct and effectiveness of the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission, in particular in relation to its role in improving the welfare of greyhounds?" click, "Dissatisfied" 10. Under Question 10, "How satisfied are you with the actions, conduct and effectiveness of Greyhound Racing NSW, in particular in relation to its role in improving the welfare of greyhounds?", click, "Very dissatisfied" 11. Under Question 11, "Do you have any comments on the actions, conduct and effectiveness of the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission and Greyhound Racing NSW, in particular in relation to their role in improving the welfare of greyhounds?", write: "The GWIC is too constrained in its powers to effectively improve the welfare of greyhounds within the racing industry, while GRNSW has far too much influence over the GWIC and prioritises profit over animal welfare. The most significant examples of the constraints on the GWIC is their lack of authority to: monitor, track and inspect greyhounds owned by persons who are not registered industry participants; approve or reject the design of racetracks and to close tracks which do not meet the minimum safety standards as identified by the University of Technology Sydney; set the maximum number of greyhounds permitted in a race; and set maximum breeding numbers. As an example of their constrainment and inability to improve the welfare of greyhounds within the racing industry despite apparent best efforts, the GWIC currently has 11 inspectors. This is one inspector per 2,441 greyhounds. This means inspections are reactive rather than proactive. The GWIC needs more inspectors conducting annual welfare checks on each dog as part of a whole of life tracing program. Further, both the Greyhound Racing Act 2017 and Greyhound Welfare Code of Practice need amending to prioritise greyhound welfare. Greyhound welfare depends upon whole of life tracking, funding for private rescues and sanctuaries, increasing penalties, reducing breeding and making tracks safer. The Act and Code should reflect the role of all of these areas in improving greyhound welfare."

03.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE - COME ALONG! The DOSE Team are running another event! Our awesome team had a great night on Friday at the last DOSE event, it was crazy busy and hectic, but the DOSE crowd were great and everyone had a lot of fun.... Really huge thanks need to be said to the truly amazing team members, Julie, Sophie, Janelle and James, with special mention to Tony who jumped in where ever we needed and often sent out on missions for things we needed, a lifesaver! We have jumped at the chance to join DOSE on their next event, it was a huge night and we were run off our feet, but it was fun with the added bonus that we got to see some stunning cars on display and in action. Come along and join in the next event, we hope to see you there!
