13.01.2022 Is there much of a difference between getting a regular spray tan and a tan for your wedding? Well no, and yes. As with all spray tans, careful preparation is required for an optimal result. But, there are other factors you should consider and your tanning technician should consider when tanning a bride. Firstly, the shade and timing matters! Using a tan that has less cosmetic bronzer means it is less likely to rub off on your white/beige (and expensive!) dress. Second...ly, a spray tan against a white dress is likely to look a lot darker so don't be tempted to go to dark. Thirdly, the darker you go, the more likely it is your tan will wear than if you opt for a lighter colour. Also, there are a lot of tanning products on the market these days that have a high percentage of active ingredients (DHA) that can turn orange if you are not careful. Finally, find a professional who can give you some extra advice on timing, solutions and after care for your big day spray tan. It is also worth considering a trial tan to coincide with your final dress fitting to ensure you are happy with the proposed result.

12.01.2022 :: - Exfoliating and hair removal prior to your tan - :: There is only one thing more important than caring for your spray tan and that is prepping for it. Be sure to exfoliate your body from head to toe the night before your spray tan appointment. Tanning solution specifically dihydroxyacetone, (DHA), the active ingredient in most sunless tanners develops after reacting with the protein keratin in your skin cells. Buffing away any of the excess dead skin cells will ensur...e that the results last as long as possible. There's no need to go out in search of the most abrasive scrub on the market. In fact, the only thing your exfoliator absolutely needs to be is oil-free. Oil in both exfoliants and moisturisers is best avoided when preparing or maintaining your sunless tan: Not only can it leave a residue on the surface of the skin that may interfere with the tan development, but it can also break down the solution and cause patchiness. A gentle scrub to buff and polish your skin Is ideal for preparing for your tan. But what about hair removal? Well, you don’t have to be hairless to get a spray tan. However, if you are planning hair removal, it is important to do this 24-48 hours beforehand. Waxing increases your skin sensitivity and opens up your pores. Additionally, therapist tend to use oil based products to remove wax residue. If you are planing on waxing as your method of hair removal it is best to do so at least 48 hours before your sunless tanning appointment. Shaving is recommended 24 hours prior to your tanning appointment. Dry shaving is a big no-no as it may leave your skin uneven resulting in a patchy result. If you have particularly dry skin, use a light oil free moisturiser after shaving. A hot shower or bath tends to soften akin and open pores so if you’re having a shower immediately prior to your tan, turn the shower cold for a minute to help close up those pores. This will assist in ensuring the spray tan doesn’t clog your pores. Be sure that your skin is free from moisturiser, perfume and deodorant prior to your tan. Chemicals (particularly deodorant) on the skin will cause the tan to discolour (usually fluorescent green).
