18.01.2022 Rangers removed a 2.3m saltie from just below the plunge pool at Edith Falls yesterday afternoon. Nitmiluk National Park and all swimming spots in the Territory... are closed due to the COVID-19 response. This is a reminder to obey all closures - crocodiles are on the move, they are deadly and can move around undetected.

17.01.2022 When to report a crocodile While crocodiles are a natural part of the NT ecosystem, you should report crocodiles that are any of the following: - close to a swimming area - in an area signposted as open for swimming... - in a residential area, such as at Darwin Harbour, Katherine River, Nhulunbuy or Borroloola - behaving aggressively to people or posing a risk to public safety. How the crocodile is removed: Problem crocodiles will be removed by trained and authorised wildlife rangers - by trapping, harpooning or shooting. Permits may be granted to other land managers to remove problem crocodiles. Report by phone: If your report is urgent, you should phone the following: Darwin - 0419 822 859 or (08) 8983 2475 Katherine - 0407 958 405 or (08) 8973 8888. Details to report You will need to give the following information about the crocodile: - location - estimated size - time of day that it was sighted - your name and phone number in case the rangers need further information.

07.01.2022 Always be Croc Wise in the Territory

04.01.2022 I fear something like this happening one day at Vestey’s beach, Fannie Bay. Beaches around Darwin should be patrolled at least during the dry season.

02.01.2022 Unless it’s signposted as being safe to swim never enter into water and stay well clear of the waters edge lest you be ambushed by as fast as a bolt of lightening Croc that can launch to its full body length. Crocs are acutely sensitive to vibrations it has already observed and assessed its chances well before you are aware of its presence.
