25.01.2022 We're curious to join this conversation on Thursday with Darwin artist Levin A. Diastchenko, who last year spent a month in a small dome - no gardening, no breadmaking, no Zoom webinars, no House Party, no backgammon! What were the tools he found helpful in his isolation, and what did he learn? Hosted by Darwin Community Arts, join via Zoom in the event link below!

Who do we need to convince of the important role the arts plays within other frontine services? Join Erica McCalman, Kelly Lee Hickey and Sean Angeles as they share their insights with us. 13.01.2022 Hi everyone, we hope everyone is doing ok. The past few weeks have been turbulent - we've been taking some time to reset and consider how DFU can be of most use to our community during this time. We want to provide space for reflection and critical thinking about the many interwoven challenges we are facing, and ways that we can express solidarity and build power across the community to create a better future on the other side. We'll share a program with you soon, but in the... meantime, we'll post links to other free workshops/training/resources that might be of interest! (Remember you can always email us with your ideas or resources to share at [email protected]) *COMMUNITY ORGANISING COURSE - Starts this Friday* First up is this *free* community organising training being run by a group of Australian organisers, including Amanda Tattersall, who co-founded GetUp, founded the Sydney Alliance and produces ChangeMakers podcast. One of the positive things about the current situation is that a whole lot of things that were previously out of reach due to cost and distance are now being made accessible - the Sydney Alliance community organising training usually costs a lot of money and involves a trip to Sydney! We'd encourage anyone interested in how we can generate social change through this moment we're living through to sign up. The course content will grow based on participants' ideas. The first session is this Friday 11.30am-1pm NT time via Zoom - register via the link below. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/the-public-dimensions-of-ou *DIGITAL ORGANISING TRAININGS - Different times this week and next depending on topic* The Australian Conservation Foundation is running a whole series of webinars starting this week on practical digital tools like Zoom and Slack that can help us stay connected. You can check out the topics and times here: https://www.acf.org.au/digital_organising_web_series

05.01.2022 The Reset Reading Group is starting up across the country next week. COVID-19 has disrupted business as usual in ways that are still unfolding and we are still coming to understand. Through this disruption, different futures are opening up: in one direction deepening inequality, injustice and climate impacts, in the other the chance to recover from this crisis and build worlds based on social and ecological justice. Many of us are having conversations about the kind of world... we want to build together through this crisis - the Reset reading group is a chance to give some structure and dedicated time to that thinking. The reading group provides a free, fortnightly program of readings, films and podcasts, curated by a range of impressive thinkers and change makers. It draws upon the ideas of philosophers, political theorists, educators, agitators and artists as well as the collective wisdom of participants. The program will run for three months from May to July, but you can dip in and out as you wish. You can start up your own reading/discussion group with friends, family or colleagues. Alternatively you are welcome to send DFU a message and we can invite you to be part of an existing group. Register via the link below

Will Crawford and MC Robbie Hoad leading an all-star Darwin debating line up at the Rails! Tickets free but bookings required to manage venue numbers.
