25.01.2022 Last week we welcomed Clontarf Year 12 Leadership Camp students to our Cruise Ship Terminal at Fort Hill Wharf. Around 80 students in their final year of school were in attendance, from academies of the Clontarf Foundation across the Territory. Darwin Port staff were invited to engage in team building exercises with the students, where our very own General Manager Operations Ian Niblock took out the Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship. It was a fantastic event and Darwin Port... and Landbridge are proud to support the Clontarf Foundation to help young indigenous people in the Northern Territory reach their potential through education and training. To find out more about the Clontarf Foundation, click this link to check out their website: https://clontarf.org.au/ #darwinport #clontarf #forthillwharf #rockpaperscissors

18.01.2022 On 19 February 1942, two raids by Japanese aircraft on Darwin formed the largest attack ever mounted by a foreign power on Australia, now known as the Bombing of Darwin. Many lives were lost. Today, we remember those in Darwin who courageously defended our country, those who survived, and those who lost their lives. Lest we forget.
15.01.2022 In an incredible feat of courage, our Harbour Control Officer Tracey Small has today shaved her locks in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation. Tracey raffled the rights to shave her hair, which brought the total amount fundraised to $1,403.73. It’s not too late to donate to the cause: http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/traceysmall We think she looks great! Well done Tracey.
14.01.2022 BOM declared a Cyclone Watch for Darwin at 1.57 PM Wednesday 8 January 2020 for a category 1 cyclone passing over Darwin at approximately 6am on Saturday 11 January. 13.01.2022 An unusual but interesting evolution is being undertaken in Darwin Harbour today with the floating of the drill rig Noble Tom Prosser on to the semi-submersible vessel MV Osprey. As the vessel description suggests the MV Osprey is able to semi-submerge by taking on ballast water. This allows large loads, in this case the 16,146 tonne drill rig, to be floated on the ship. Once the drill rig is in place the ballast water is pumped out of the MV Osprey and it is ‘re-floated’ ...with its cargo in place. The drill rig will be secured to the vessel over the next couple of days before being taken to its next destination. Darwin Harbour is ideal for this type of operation as it is sheltered from the elements and has natural deep water anchorages. For those interested in viewing this operation, the best viewing would be from the Darwin Esplanade. See more
