21.01.2022 THE POWER OF BELIEF IN MASTERS POWERLIFTING PA club Real Strength in Castlemaine and Coach Dean Mawby were the subjects in a newly published research report whi...ch examined the belief blockers to mature age females taking up Powerlifting and how to overcome those. Older women were missing out on the health benefits of progressive whole body weight training because of previous poor progress with unqualified trainers, fear of injury, perceptions that lifting is masculine and just poor self confidence. However the subjects in this study revealed that skilled, supportive coaching from a PA accredited coach was able to take away those misperceptions and draw out physical and psychological progress that they had not previously been able to conceive or achieve. The lessons in this article are vital for not only Coaches dealing with oldr populations but for all Powerlifting Coaches striving to develop their proteges to their full potential.
