25.01.2022 Darwin Private will be using the Healthscope national COVID-19 screening process that has been tried and tested by our southern hospitals. The QR code will be on display at the front of the hospital. Patients are also being sent an SMS the day before admission with this link. For those who aren't comfortable with the electronic version, we will have a paper register.... Our friendly staff are there to help if needed. We will still be doing temperature testing and everyone still gets the dot of the day. For more information, visit: https://healthscopeassist.com.au/siteScreening.asp

10.01.2022 Our Infusion Centre has a beautiful ritual when our patients finish their chemo treatments - they ring the bell in celebration of their next step forward. We have a poem written by - Suzy Toronto near the bell.... It's Me Again.....Only Better!... I fought the battle and won. Now I’m back and better than ever. For Cancer has been a mirror held up in front of me. It forced me to take a good look at myself. And bluntly asked Where are you going? It made me redefine my priorities, Teaching me that it really is the little things that make life sweet. It gave me the vision to see angels walking among us - Calling themselves friends and family - Touching my life deeper than I ever dreamed possible. Cancer asked me to embrace the change in myself - The change that forced me to grow and become the person I always wanted to be but never seemed to have the time to achieve. And change always involves risk. Stepping from the known in to the unknown, I had to embrace uncertainty and accept that I was not in control. It’s been the ultimate test of my character, Forcing me to trust my heart and reach deep inside For strength and power I never knew I had. I came to realise that even though I had cancer, I was never a victim. I am a survivor in heart and spirit and always will be - Even if that test takes me to my last breath. Cancer truly is a defining moment, A moment that made me redefine the impossible. And since I did, nothing will ever be the same again....it will be better. Two of our wonderful patients got to ring the bell this week.

10.01.2022 Today is Remembrance Day when we traditionally observe a minute’s silence at 11am in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. We remember particularly the nurses, doctors, orderlies, allied and mental health professionals who have served our country, including many among the more than 100,000 Australian service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; ... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." See more
