22.01.2022 A very enlightening piece from Competition Systems about how to navigate around the initial PC connection to any Magneti Marelli ECU or Data Logger. Marelli was an early adopter of ethernet in the late 90's as a communication link between the car and pit garage and this article shows how far they have progressed this technology since then. http://www.compsystems.com.au//92-getting-started-with-axon

21.01.2022 If you want to learn how to use simulation to get the best possible performance out of your racecar then the Online ChassisSim bootcamp is event not to be missed. This year, due to Covid19, the boot camps will be run online. https://www.chassissim.com/the-chassissim-bootcamps-are-on/

19.01.2022 This is an interesting take from Danny at Chassissim on specifying dampers. A great reference tool with solid methodology to the process takes a lot of teh guesswork out.

15.01.2022 COMBINING LAP TIME AND DRIVER IN THE LOOP SIMULATION One of the great challenges in vehicle dynamics simulation is correlating the trends with performance predi...ction software (usually lap time simulation) with Driver in the loop simulation. With ChassisSim this is a given because the lap time and driver in the loop software use the same numerical engine. It also gives you the confidence that what you are designing or race engineering will work as advertised. The following is a great case study. 14.01.2022 CHASSISSIM 2019 BOOTCAMP UPDATE Hey Guys some updates on the ChassisSim bootcamps later this year. Firstly for those of you wanting to go to the European Bootcamp in Cologne in November. We have had a lot of interest so if you want to go when you register make sure you pay to secure your spot.... Fortunately there are a quite a few slots for the US Bootcamp in Indianapolis in December. That being said it's about now when we get an upswing in people registering so If I was you I wouldn't be delaying this either. https://www.chassissim.com/the-chassissim-bootcamps-are-on/

13.01.2022 This is the definitive guide to good motorsport data analysis practice. Written by a good friend of ours, Jorge Segers, some years ago, this is still one of the most valuable reference works a race engineer or data analyst can own. https://www.sae.org/publications/books/content/r-408/

12.01.2022 HOW TO MAKE SENSE OF SIMULATED DATA One of the biggest pitfalls of using racecar simulation is how you interpret the data you get from it. The following outlines what you need to look for,

12.01.2022 The Daytona 24 Hour is just around the corner and here's a great way to get an idea of just how fast and daunting those big high banks are. https://www.facebook.com/GoodwoodRRC/videos/806698969794002/

12.01.2022 Using Advanced Simulation Channels in Chassissim One of ChassisSim’s great untold stories is the multitude of returned data channels you can look at. The following tutorial gives you a quick taste of what you can do with them. Enjoy, https://www.youtube.com/watch

11.01.2022 The Chassissim Boot Camps are on again for our international followers. For the Cologne bootcamp in particular we have had a lot of interest. So when you register make sure you pay to secure your spot. The link is below, https://www.chassissim.com/the-chassissim-bootcamps-are-o/

11.01.2022 Another game changing feature of Chassissim is the revamped Setup Sweep function.

10.01.2022 THE HARD COPY OF THE DYNAMICS OF THE RACE CAR IS AVAILABLE FOR PRE ORDER! Hey Guys - as an early Christmas Present from ChassisSim and due to popular request, the hard copy of my book - The Dynamics of the Race car is available for pre-order. The books are printing now and this will ensure you can secure your copy. More details can be found here, https://www.chassissim.com/the-dynamics-of-the-race-car-ne/ Also a Merry Christmas and prosperous new year from all of us at ChassisSim.

09.01.2022 A great article from our friends at Altair explaining how simulation was put to work successfully in winning the 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour. In particular the seven post shaker rig simulation and the open loop tyre pressure and temperature simulations both meant that they weren't chasing their tail all weekend looking for setup. Instead they had a car that topped the time sheets from the first session and was able to run longer on a set of tyres than anyone else. https://blog.altair.com/vehicle-dynamics-simulation-in-ac/

08.01.2022 INCORPORATING HANDLING INTO RACECAR SIMULATION - REVISITED One of the most challenging subjects in racecar simulation is how do you incorporate handling into th...e results. Following up from one of our more popular tutorials this shows you how by specifying the handling you want this will directly effect the results of your simulations. Also for those of you competing in the ChassisSim Race Engineering competition there are some great tips and tricks in here. Enjoy https://www.chassissim.com/incorporating-handling-into-lap/ #racecarsimulation #handling #dataacquisition #vehicledynamics #motorsport

06.01.2022 THE FOLLOWING ILLUSTRATES THE INTELLECTUAL BANKRUPTCY OF RESTRICTIVE REGULATIONS If you are a frequent visitor to this page you know our views on motorsport tec...hnical regulations that rival the size of the bible. But if you ever want an example of the intellectual bankruptcy of this approach this speaks for itself, https://newatlas.com/2019-pikes-peak-results-robin-s/60378/

05.01.2022 Chassissim Advanced Simulation Channels unleash a wealth of information than can be difficult or expensive to normally data log like suspension loads and slip angles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBL5oxFss7U

03.01.2022 A fabtastic insight into this years F1 aerodynamics from the master himself, WIllem Toet. https://www.racetechmag.com//willem-toet-explains-the-20/

02.01.2022 AN OLDIE BUT A GOODIE - SUSPENSION GEOMETRY The first episode of Dan's Vehicle Dynamics Corner we published was on the nature of suspension geometry. In particu...lar explaining where it came from and what counts. Here you go, https://youtu.be/kpjUPuk2cqE It was my first video from 5 years ago so my presentation skills where a bit rough. However the info is really helpful so enjoy.

02.01.2022 Now available from Amazon, The Dynamics of the Race Car is the other book that any serious motorsport professional should be required to read. Packed with an amazing wealth of validated information and everyday concepts that we should always have to hand, this is a truly indispensable book.

01.01.2022 Thinking outside the box is one of the attractions of high end motorsport. Mercedes has come up with a ripper in there new DAS steering system. Elegantly simple in execution, it enables the driver to alternatively use toe as a tyre warmer in the early stages of an outing while also being able to reduce toe for better straightline speed, then reintroduce it at the early stages of cornering for better turn in. Kudos to whoever came up with this one.... https://www.formula1.com//article.new-das-steering-wheel-s
