25.01.2022 Here we go again... Mechanical hard drives are typically found in most laptops, and PCs. They are also commonly used in external/portable hard drives and should not be trusted with anything even remotely important. they are fragile, and as they age past a year or two, they become very slow and unreliable. Here is a picture of another failed drive which resulted in catastrophic failure and complete data loss, all without warning. 20.01.2022 Attention business operators, Windows 7 Support ended over a month ago, and although we are sad to see the legendary operating system go, it has unfortunately left potential issues in its wake. Although you can continue to use a Windows 7 machine, it is ill advised. Programs and applications will no longer be supported, and thus, will not be updated, but worst of all, Security vulnerabilities will not be patched. Even if nothing important is stored on that computer, a vulnerability on any machine connected to the Internet is an unlocked door to your entire network. 18.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL WINDOWS 7 USERS: Windows 7 support is officially ending in January. This is a big deal. What does it mean exactly? Well, your computer will no longer receive security updates from Microsoft. Any and all security issues found and fixed from there on out will no longer be applied to Windows 7. Furthermore, new patches and updates for many of your favourite programs, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Office, just to name a few, will no longer be applied.... The best thing you can do in preparation for this is to have your computer upgraded to Windows 10. If you own a legitimate copy of Windows 7 or 8 the license is free, and the labor is cheap. Dateline Computers can have your PC in and out on the same day for $95. This is a great opportunity to have a new Solid State hard drive installed, which will dramatically speed up your computer and make it feel like new again. If you are hesitant about moving to Windows 10, you are not alone. We have noticed of late that a lot of people have had run-ins with Windows 10 in the past, and have not had great experiences. This is more than understandable, it had a very bumpy launch, however, as of now, it is a very solid operating system and is quite easy to get used to. 16.01.2022 Hooley Dooley! This little component is responsible for keeping the brain of your PC cool. By sitting directly on top of the CPU, the heatsink draws heat out of the CPU and then removes it completely by blowing cool air through the fins. with blockages like this,(and in this case a broken fan blade,) temperatures skyrocket, leaving your CPU hitting temperatures it was never designed to cope with. The only way to deal with this heat is by slowing right down, making your computer run slower and slower as dust builds up further. Remember to have your PC Professionally cleaned internally at least every 12 months to prevent damage and keep your computer running quickly, and quietly.

06.01.2022 A customer received a call two days ago from NBNco saying that their line will be imminently disconnected, and if they held onto the line, they would be connected to someone that could resolve the termination. They then called me, and it was determined that this was a scam call. Today I had the same call to my shop, It was a recorded computer style voice telling me that NBN was about to disconnect my phone lines, as the NBN was now available in my area. Firstly this is a SC...AM Secondly, NBNco do not have any customers, and will not ring anyone. They are a Government owned organisation that sell at wholesale level to other Internet providers such as Dodo, Telstra, TPG etc etc etc. Thirdly THIS IS A SCAM call. If they call you, you have two options. 1. Hang up the phone 2 Know that it is a scam call and get on the phone with them and waste their time. Do NOT let them into your computer, they will ask for that, and eventually let them know that you have recorded the call and will report them to the Police. They are way off the mark here, because most of us have already changed their telephone lines to the NBN. Anyway it is your choice, hang up, or have some fun and waste their time. If you have any questions, you can message us, or give us a call.

04.01.2022 Another failed drive. Hard drives are failing left and right. It is very very important to catch a hard drive before it fails, as it is much much harder and more expensive to recover data from a failed drive than it is from a dying one. If you have noticed your PC or Mac slowing down, having boot issues or flashing warnings at you, it never hurts to be too cautious and to check its health before it fails completely.
