11.01.2022 overseas licence conversions where the licence applicant is the holder of a Temporary Drivers Permit (TDP) issued under Section 80 of the Motor Vehicles Act . These permits are issued for three months and only one permit can be issued before the applicant is required to revert to learner driver conditions. Given the circumstances we currently face with COVID 19 a person who’s TDP has expired may seek a second TDP as per the below advice. Where the person has been unable t...o book in to undertake a practical driving test due to the COVID-19 pandemic they will be able to be issued with a second TDP. Service SA will check the person’s record to ensure they have not already sat a practical driving test and failed. If the person has failed a test then they must be issued with a learner’s permit, otherwise a further three month TDP can be issued. 09.01.2022 UPDATE Notice to all Motor Driving Instructors and Authorised Examiners On 9 April 2020, the State Coordinator made a Direction under the Emergency Management Act 2004 to suspend all driver training and assessment services for the issue of a car licence effective from Friday 10 April 2020. ... This new Direction is upon advice of the Chief Public Health Officer, and provides greater protection of South Australians, in line with the COVID19 physical distancing recommendations. This means that learner drivers for a car licence will not be able to obtain the services of a licensed Motor Driving Instructor or an Authorised Examiner to undertake driver training or assessment for the issue of a car drivers licence. People who hold a learner’s permit will still be able to undertake driver training with a parent or other Qualified Supervising Driver who is living in the same house as the learner driver.

03.01.2022 As showers and storms are forecast for the next five days, here are some things you can do to help you and other road users drive to the conditions: Make sur...e your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure and any cracked/old windscreen wipers replaced Clean your car mirrors, the inside of the windscreen as well as the outside so you’ve got a clear view Turn your lights on so that it's easier for other road users to see you. Don’t rely on daytime running lights as these are only visible from the front If fog lights are fitted, only use them in foggy or very heavy mist conditions and remember to turn them off as soon as the weather clears (or you may risk a fine) Also a quick safety tip: Please remember not to drive though flood waters even if you're in a 4WD or heavy vehicle as flood waters can run fast and be very deceptive.
