21.01.2022 Just got home yesterday from a trip to the US with work. On my last day there I was able to visit The Getty Museum in LA. Amazing place. Attached are some of my shots from the day.

20.01.2022 A few weeks ago I was asked to take photos for the local Football club's web page. It was fun though a little grueling shooting 6 games over a weekend. The end results have started being uploaded to the web site here: http://kpfc.asn.au/ The brief was to take action shots showing the variety of people who play for the club and also to highlight the sponsors labels which are shown prominently on the shirts. All this without showing off players from other clubs where possible. There was also the issue of permissions to shoot and show players on the web page as many were minors, fortunately, most of which was handled by the club. The location on the page was a wide banner which meant we focused on a group of shots of individual players. I'm fairly happy with the results, though I have a bunch more games and age groups still to shoot.

14.01.2022 Decided to do a little bit of a different family portrait here for Father's day. We did one many years ago with feet, so long ago in fact that our youngest wasn't around, so now she's been included! Technical details are 6 separate photos shot at f2.8 in natural (cloudy) light with a black background, then merged and edited in PS. Final image is around 19000x3700 pixels so around 70Mp.

This time it is 500px Prime and my portfolio is here: https://prime.500px.com/dcdigitalphoto As you can see, it's a fairly limited selection at this stage. The sale price is much higher at the site so I'm going to limit the shots I sell there to larger, more complex or special images.

10.01.2022 Time for some gratuitous self-promotion. Most sites have a referral program where if you refer other buyers or contributors, you make a little bit of extra money. 10.01.2022 Another "on location" shoot of a cake today. Again zero time to set up and shoot (4 kids waiting "patiently" in the car) and terrible in location lighting (single window behind the cake) in a dimly lit, but beautifully decorated function hall. So I relied on the trusty single on camera flash bounced of the roof, balanced against the light from the window. Finally a bit of lift on the cake using Lightroom. I'm quite happy with the finally shot and of course the cake was beautiful.

10.01.2022 My cake decorating wife is getting an early start on our daughter's 3rd birthday. I thought I'd take a few photos to document the process. A lot of work goes into making all of the elements of a beautiful cake like this. Over the coming weeks you'll see the figurines being built and of course the final cake in a month. 07.01.2022 It's not often I get to shoot the cakes my wife makes "on location". This one was a very simple cake at very cute Mexican themed wedding which was held in a upstairs room in a warehouse in inner Sydney. When we arrived, the wedding couple's friends were still setting up so as my wife did the final cake touch ups I took few photos of her and the cake at the venue.

07.01.2022 I had the pleasure of taking the photos for my boys' yearbook photos yesterday. The brief was isolated on white, which is tough given my limited equipment and the fact it was outdoors. Fortunately the weather was okay and not windy and we found an okay spot in the shade. I'm happy enough with the results, given the conditions.

06.01.2022 Back to isolated on white again. This time another children's birthday cake. Fantastic models, I especially like the little pigs in chocolate mud

06.01.2022 After 1 year and 9 months I finally reached by first payout on Pond 5. Given the payout cutoff is a mere $25 you can probably see that there isn't much worth spending your effort uploading there. The royalties are 50% which is pretty much as good as it gets, but 50% of not very much is half of not very much. Why is that sites that pay good royalties to contributors (e.g. Pond5, GL Stock) get so few sales?

05.01.2022 Stunning photographs. I wish I could shoot like this. Ignoring the children and animals for a second (though they are integral to the images), they capture the light beautifully. Add onto that the kids and animals and they are touching and heartwarming as well.

01.01.2022 Last decorated cake for the year. Still a lot fo Christmas cakes to do in the next 10 days, but last decorated cake before taking a well needed break.
