16.01.2022 Fantastic news for Hampton Senior High School! A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will deliver over $2.3 million dollars in upgrades to the school: $1.5 million to a STEM room... $160,000 to a new school bus $100,000 to an Aboriginal Seasons Garden and meeting place $50,000 to an ICT/Technology hub in the library That is on top of the $500,000 already delivered to upgrade the visual arts classroom as part of the COVID recovery plan. 07.01.2022 Yesterday the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Observatory Convention was ratified by the Commonwealth Government - an important milestone for WA’s role in co-hosting one of the biggest science projects in human history. WA has become a global hub for radio astronomy with around 135 astronomers, 25 engineers and 25 data scientists now working on the SKA project and in astronomical research in the state. I visited the new WA Museum Boola Bardip SKA exhibit with Rebecca Wheadon from CSIRO, Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory (MRO) and Professor Peter Quinn, Executive Director of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research, to celebrate the ratification.

04.01.2022 LGBTIQA+ youth are a vulnerable group, and their voices need to be heard. That’s why the McGowan Government is providing funding for a dedicated advocacy body for young LGBTIQA+ people. Really pleased to announce the new funding with some members of the Youth Pride Network - YPN at last Friday’s Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia State of the Youth Sector event.

You’re all to be commended for your commitment to and achievements in science, as well as the important role you play in inspiring WA’s future scientists. Inspiring future scientists like Simone Harrington (pictured with Michael Carey, VP Finance at Shell) who won the Aboriginal STEM Student of the Year Award.

01.01.2022 East Beechboro Primary School is getting a new administration building! The school received $1,415,305 as part of the McGowan Labor Government's school maintenance blitz. This funding included the new admin facility as well as classroom and structural maintenance upgrades.
