24.01.2022 We are first and foremost Australians. All states should look to re-open their internal borders as quickly as possible. Our federal system is designed to support all Australians equitably, and it's what makes our nation strong. Peter Stefanovic Sky News Australia

23.01.2022 I’m no Masterchef, but I certainly felt like one today. When COVID struck earlier this year, chef (and Wentworth local) Neil Perry launched the Hope Delivery by Rockpool initiative, feeding those who’ve been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their amazing team is working around the clock, and by the end of this week they will have produced and delivered over 200,000 meals. ... Well done chef Neil Perry and the Hope Delivery team - if you can, please donate towards helping those that need it most: www.rockpoolfoundation.com/#section9 Craig Foster The Rockpool Rosetta Ristorante

22.01.2022 Great inauguration speech by President Biden. Especially liked the appeals for unity and decency, respect and moderation. And his comments on the preciousness of democracy.

22.01.2022 Nailed it! #learningtoride (And I have a new running pacer!)

21.01.2022 Waverley Vinnies is a landmark of the eastern suburbs, highly frequented by locals and visitors alike. The shopfront was in need of some TLC and we recently provided $10,000 towards this through the Stronger Communities program. Vinnies have experienced a significant increase in people requiring assistance during COVID. It’s well worth a visit during this Christmas period (they have one of the best designer collections in Australia!) 20.01.2022 It’s a wet day in Sydney but heading out all the same. Off to Taronga Zoo Sydney !

18.01.2022 This was a massively significant day for peace in the Middle East. Rejectionists and those who believe in conflict and division lose Pragmatists and those who believe in peace and coexistence win ... Full credit to Trump Administration for this remarkable diplomatic achievement I spoke to Chris Kenny Sky News Australia about today’s developments

17.01.2022 We need Victoria to get back to work as soon as it is safe to do so. NSW shows that strong testing and tracing can contain the virus, whilst allowing daily life to resume. Absent a vaccine, our strategy has to be protecting lives whilst living with the virus.

16.01.2022 NSW Police Force have done a great job throughout COVID-19 in keeping us all safe during challenging times. From policing hotel quarantine to enforcing public health orders, they have been a model of professionalism and common sense. Thanks Superintendent Carrett and all your colleagues across NSW who have done so much for us.

15.01.2022 It might be a little early, but we need some happiness this year

15.01.2022 Kylie Moore-Gilbert has been in Iranian detention now for two years. Two years of unfathomable anguish for her and her family. We do not accept the charges against Kylie, and we will do everything we can to get her home. Thanks to the large number of Kylie’s friends and supporters who turned out last night to mark this sombre anniversary, to speak up for her, and to let her know that we will not forget her.... 14.01.2022 First swim of the season! It’s been a long and strange winter.

14.01.2022 The Coastal Cliff Walk is now brighter and happier thanks to a $500,000 investment in new solar-powered lights from the Federal Government’s Community Development Grants. Woollahra Council Mayor Susan Wynne and I can confirm they are in good working order! Woollahra Council Liberals

13.01.2022 Long, cold and windy day in the saddle . 130km from Balmoral RFS to Goulburn, stopping at a number of NSW Rural Fire Service centres on our way to thank them for their service and courage over the summer of bushfires. #polliepedal2020 Day 1

12.01.2022 COVID has required us all to establish a new normal. For Reverend Dan McKinlay at South Head Anglican Parish this has meant moving to online services and weekly email updates. Today I met with Reverend McKinlay to discuss the importance of social connectedness during COVID. In times of upheaval our community groups have been there to provide support, and the ears and eyes on the ground that are essential for Government to get policies right. Thank you for all that you do, now more than ever.

11.01.2022 Watching new citizens take their oath of allegiance with joy and enthusiasm is a great reminder that we have much to be thankful for and proud of in our country. These new citizens will each help write the next chapter in our collective story. Happy #AustraliaDay everyone.

11.01.2022 Real privilege to meet today with some very sharp female founders/CEOs, each recipients of the #boostingfemalefounders grant, who are using tech and disruption to solve big problems and improve our lives. Thanks U Paged Place Score and Freight Exchange for sharing your wisdom today! Karen Andrews MP

10.01.2022 As the PM said last night on the important topic of climate change: effective action on climate change is no longer about if or when, but how; we will partner with the UK + others to create a pathway to net zero emissions;... we will work with the UK to make COP26 a major step forward in dealing with climate change.

09.01.2022 At 648 pages, the Retirement Incomes Review might not be everyone’s idea of weekend reading! But it has some important things to say about a system that will affect nearly all of us, but to which we pay little attention during our working lives. Five key findings of the Review from my perspective ... We basically have a good system: effective, sound and sustainable. But there are areas for improvement. Too often people think only of superannuation balances when thinking of retirement incomes. But voluntary savings of which home ownership is the most important and the Age Pension are both also key components. Home ownership is the most important component of voluntary savings and an important factor in determining retirement outcomes. Higher home ownership = more secure retirement. Much of the debate turns on the superannuation guarantee rate. But as the report finds, more efficient use of savings in retirement, lower fees, and higher returns, can have a much bigger impact on retirement balances than the SG rate. The cost of superannuation tax concessions is expected to exceed the cost of the Age Pension by 2050. So the cost of super to the taxpayer is high we need to make sure the system is working as intended. Read more here:

09.01.2022 Former PM Kevin Rudd claims that greenhouse gas inaction risks making us a global pariah. In reality, Australia's technology-first approach to cutting carbon emissions is setting an example for the world. Read my latest for the Financial Review

09.01.2022 Federal Member for Wentworth Dave Sharma was unable to be with us today, but he has actively been concerned about Kylie’s imprisonment in Iran and has spoken out about it on more than one occasion. His statement, which was read today, is in the photos below. #freeKylie

08.01.2022 Protecting and preserving local heritage Today the Government announced $40.6 million in additional funding for the Harbour Trust including to support the restoration of the historic Greenway Stonewall at Macquarie Lighthouse. Thanks Sussan Ley MP!

08.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: MALKA LEIFER WILL BE EXTRADITED TO AUSTRALIA This is a welcome victory for justice and the victims of abuse worldwide. After six long years and over seventy court hearings, Malka Leifer will finally have to face her accusers in an Australian court. Israel's Ministry of Justice deserves full credit for their relentless and unstinting pursuit of this case, despite many setbacks. I welcome the resolution of what had become a point of tension in Australia's otherw...ise strong bilateral relationship with Israel. To see this day come, after being the ambassador to first hand over the extradition request to Israel six years ago, is immensely satisfying. For me, this was unfinished business from my term. Dassi Erlich, Nicole Meyer and Elly Sapper deserve huge credit for their bravery and persistence. We would not have achieved this without them. 07.01.2022 Absolutely repugnant and repulsive. Shameful behaviour by China’s Foreign Ministry.

07.01.2022 A shed opening doesn't sound like a special event, but the Advanced Response Lifesaving Facility is no ordinary shed! Built with the support of Federal, State and Local governments and our own membership, it's a great addition to life saving and surf sports on Bondi Beach.

06.01.2022 BREAKING: As of this evening, Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert is safely back in Australia after being released from Iranian imprisonment yesterday. I joined Hamish Macdonald on ABC Radio National this morning to discuss the situation. Free Kylie Moore-Gilbert

06.01.2022 So much for Trans-Tasman solidarity. I expected more from our close friend and partner New Zealand.

05.01.2022 Thanks Bondi Anglican Church: Beach Site for your blessing of the surf life saving patrol season and all the volunteers at Bondi Surf Club North Bondi SLSC.

05.01.2022 Australian innovation is alive and well! Aussie biotech company Aegros is aiming to produce a COVID-19 hyperimmune product, to provide passive COVID immunity to frontline healthcare workers whilst a vaccine is developed. I was thrilled to open with John Alexander Aegros’s new plasma fractionation facility, which will spearhead this work.

04.01.2022 Last month’s tragic explosion in Beirut has heartbreaking, especially for those in the Australian Lebanese community. But the outpouring of support in response has been heart-warming. In Wentworth, locals have donated food, clothing, school supplies, strollers and much more to the Basics for Beirut campaign. I stopped by to help organiser Nicole Gazal to pack just one of many loads into the truck. Thank you Nicole, your great team, and all have donated goods and time to this worthy cause.

04.01.2022 It was great to hear today from the ABC, some of our best-credentialed Pacific correspondents, and passionate broadcasters about how Australia can make sure our voice is heard in the Pacific, and that Pacific voices are heard in Australia. We are family and neighbours, so it’s important we share our stories.

04.01.2022 Wonderful news! Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert has been released and is coming home! She and her family have shown amazing strength and resilience throughout this ordeal. I know the Australian Government at all levels has worked tirelessly over months and years to achieve this result. Well done to the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the many government officials involved in this case.

03.01.2022 Incoming travel cap lifted so more Australians can return home each week

03.01.2022 Meet Joshua Lumbewe. He’s in year 5 at St Charles' Catholic Primary School Waverley and recently sat the UNSW ICAS Test, achieving the top score in the Digital Technologies paper. For his efforts, he was awarded the ICAS medal I visited St Charles today to check out their new multimedia learning technology funded through the Stronger Communities grant, and was pleasantly surprised to meet Joshua and his parents who are unsurprisingly very proud. Well done Joshua! UNSW Global

01.01.2022 Great day to be on or near the water for a full day of action. Stopped by North Bondi SLSC this morning to help them open their new Advanced Response Lifesaving Facility. Then got to have a spin of the new Inflatable Rescue Boat at Double Bay Sailing Club.... Thanks to both these great local clubs for their strong volunteering and community ethos.
