25.01.2022 Lots of beautiful Christmas artworks being created this week in the Daveykid’s Artroom! Preps -reindeers Gr 2 - Sputnik baubles Gr 1/2 - Grinch

24.01.2022 Another very rich learning week discovering artist and environmentalist Hundertwasser for Prep - Gr4. Gr 5/6 were immersed in the world of Steampunk and my how did they love it! #colour #shape #line #cogs #buckles

23.01.2022 Grade 3/4 students have had great success in their learning about air dry clay. We focussed in on the slab technique to create our names from bubble writing. Still trying to decide whether to paint or not?

23.01.2022 Grade 1/2 students focussed in on the ‘pinch technique’ this week, producing some well formed pinch pots. The air dry clay pots are currently drying, awaiting painting next week.

22.01.2022 Here are some wonderful projects being sent through from Week 6 of remote learning. They make the heart sing - just look at the details and the happy smiles! Prep - 2 students made 'Mindful Breath Wands', Gr 3/4 students are making a diorama of their bedroom and Gr 5/6 are making a diorama of a scene with electricity.

22.01.2022 The Daveykid’s art room is buzzing with excitement!

21.01.2022 Steampunk has taken over the upper school! What is Steampunk - ask your child. Grade 5/6 are perfecting their paint mixing to make brown...trickier than it sounds! Gr 3/4 have started their 2D collages, with more to come next week.

21.01.2022 A belated Father's Day post showcasing some of the creative cards that were designed and constructed last week. I hope all the Daveykid's dads had a relaxed day at home and loved their cards.

21.01.2022 What an excellent week in the Art room, my heart is singing as our Hundertwasser projects come to life! To hear and see the satisfaction of the student’s learning this week is the reason why I teach! Thank you to families who are discussing Hundertwasser with their children, it is obvious in their language. The below photos are Preps making Hundertwasser roofs (not finished) and Gr 1/2 architectural collages. So impressed!!!

21.01.2022 Wow! Two Grade 5/6 classes were ‘pushed’ completely out of their comfort zone today. Slab technique shoes provided some challenges for students to problem solve and overcome, whilst using their time wisely. Frenetic day for Daveykids and Mrs Davey today!

20.01.2022 2021 Grade 1/2 Skinny Self Portraits still to come......after lockdown! I love children’s art so much.

19.01.2022 This week’s Art lesson was differentiated across the whole school to challenge colour theory, design concepts and imagination! Students were asked to create a colour wheel using objects found inside and outside of their home. Here is a selection of just some of the school’s artwork received so far. I particularly love the proud artist’s smiles!

19.01.2022 Grade Prep - 2 students have been capturing their 2020 ‘Iso Memories’. It was an opportunity to refocus on the elements of art, in particular line and colour.

18.01.2022 My prep’s learning today centred around the ‘pinch’ technique, using air dry clay. Their little thumbs got quite a workout making pinch pots. They had many adjectives in their vocabulary such as: squashy, cold, squishy and it smells like vinegar!

18.01.2022 Just had to share these gorgeous Christmas trees, covered in snow (Magiclay) and sparkly baubles (mosaic tiles), they are just divine. Clever kids in the Gr2 and Gr1/2 classes.

17.01.2022 As we wave goodbye to a term (good riddance) that I wish to never repeat, it’s important to focus on the positives. Covid-19 forced a rethink of the Artroom and I chose to focus on mindfulness for many reasons. I rarely choose an art activity that spans the whole school, topic/technique yes but not activity. So this was a perfect opportunity and my how excited were the Gr 6 students, when I got the endless glitter down from my special shelf and said the magic words ‘collage’! The students were lucky to have both myself and the talented Mrs Kerry Punton over the last two weeks, so I hope that you will treasure (and store) these pieces, which were made with love. 16.01.2022 Mrs Davey cordially invites you to the opening night of 'Remote Learning 2020'. Grab a hot drink, put your feet up and press play to enjoy the EPS Art Gallery without having to glam up and head out into the cold. Children's artwork is truly something to behold, a beautiful memory to timestamp this unique period in our lives. ... Best viewed on a laptop/PC/iPad and full screen, no need to sign up to 'emaze' (close the sign up box when it pops up).

16.01.2022 Another frenetic week in the Art room, surrounded by clay and paint. Heaven, except for all the clean up! Great chance to review our colour theory with the new extra large colour wheel. (See second last photo) Preps - air dry baskets, painted and a coat of glitter mod podge. Gr 1/2 - pinch pots, painted. Gr 3/4 - air dry clay names, painted with the ‘ombré’ technique.... Gr 5/6 - air dry shoes, painted. See more

14.01.2022 Here is a snapshot of results so far, from my remote Art lessons this week. There are some very clever remote students mixing colours to learn their primary, secondary and even tertiary colours. I love so much that this was a lesson which could be completed as a family!

14.01.2022 Well, we all survived Day 1 Remote Learning 2020! Here is a selection of artwork I received today, to mark the occasion and hopefully put a smile on your dial. A wonderful advantage of this situation is a couple of younger siblings completing the junior lessons - didn't expect that!

13.01.2022 The juniors are currently learning printing techniques with these gorgeous Gr 2 printing foam designs on painted paper.

13.01.2022 2021 Grade 3/4 Abstract Self Portraits Masterpieces under construction

12.01.2022 2021 Prep Family Portraits Sorry parents, I’m keeping these masterpieces all year! Fine liners for the first time today

11.01.2022 Some miniature Christmas artworks coming home today from Gr 5/6P and Gr 5/6MS. The patience these students showed and the fine details are to be lauded! (We could’ve done with an extra 10 minutes.)

09.01.2022 What a wonderful activity this EPS family did on Indigenous Literacy Day this week. Quality family time passing on precious knowledge.

09.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK 2020 A sneak peek into our learning and artwork (unfinished) in the Daveykid’s Artroom this week, celebrating indigenous culture and traditions.

09.01.2022 Christmas time has arrived in the Artroom and goodness my younger students are excited! Fine motor skills were the focus with Preps making pipe cleaner Christmas trees and Gr 1/2 students rapt to make ornaments with sparkly ‘Scratch It’ paper.

09.01.2022 Last week of Term 3 remote learning and we can all feel the holiday vibes approaching. This week we tried 'forced photography' to learn about perception and haven't the students finished the term with a bing bang! A big shout out to Melinda West from Strathfieldsaye PS, who gave me the encouragement to try this across all year levels. I am so proud of the photos flowing through, showing creativity and persistence.

06.01.2022 A wonderful sample of remote learning artworks submitted by students, using lessons generously supplied by Mrs White and Mrs Watchman at WHPS.

06.01.2022 Prep self-portraits finished and displayed! Look at those shapes and marker control. Oh how we love a food dye wash.

05.01.2022 Woohoo! We are back creating and making in the art room and the students (and Mrs Davey!!!) are very happy about this. We are studying the artist - Friedensreich Hundertwasser, focussing in on colour, shape and line. Here are some art works from across the school. Students are expected to discuss this artist with families. #hundertwasser

04.01.2022 Last Friday, the Preps took over the Artroom to make a start on their living/non-living dioramas for Inquiry learning. Mrs Davey was very worried, but the mess was worth it as their dioramas now start to come together. Hands on learning is so important! Finished pics later this week.

03.01.2022 Check out these wonderful salt dough creations being sent in. I am so pleased that we were able to continue our learnings about clay at home during remote lessons. So now, most of the school has had a hands on experience with pinch pots, coils and slab techniques either in the art room, via onsite learning or at home. A massive thank-you to families for getting messy again to support your child's learning. #creatingmemories

02.01.2022 It’s time for printing! Woohoo! Grades Prep - 2 were all immersed in printing techniques and some students twice! (Thanks swimming program). We explored, we experimented and we got messy! Most students left the Daveykid’s Artroom with a sense of achievement, an ability to assess their own work and a big smile! Mrs Davey however, is still cleaning up.

02.01.2022 We have hit the ground running in the Daveykid’s Artroom for term 3! Our first unit is ceramics where students will experiment with various types of clay. Today the Preps learnt about Polymer Clay, after reading the 50th anniversary copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Check out how clever our littlest hands and fingers are, they created these........

02.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all of our EPS mums, nans, grandmas, aunties and sisters who support our education, especially our Visual Arts education.

02.01.2022 A big shout out to Monique White and Cadi Watchman from WHPS, who supplied wonderful art lessons to the very lucky Daveykids at EPS while I was on leave recently. Such a generous and collaborative group of art teachers we have in Bendigo! Thank-you ladies.
