19.01.2022 Reposting this for anyone who was shivering so hard last week that they couldn't hold their phone to read it. (Also I had failed to tag Toowoomba Farmers Market). The weather for tomorrow looks much more bearable than last Saturday.

17.01.2022 A balanced diet: fresh veg and donuts! At Ipswich Showplace Markets Sunday.

17.01.2022 Here is a photo taken from the middle of our property. The trees in the distance to the left are on our neighbours' property (also a farm), the trees in the distance on the right line a creek which runs into Lockyer Creek and the blip on the horizon in the middle of the photo, over 2km away, is the hill that gives the district of Mount Tarampa its name. While our farm is at Mount Tarampa it certainly isn't in the mountains. It's quite a flat area, with a lot of good alluvial black soil, as you can see in this photo. Great soil for growing veg.

15.01.2022 Everything has been growing well since the wet weather a few weeks ago but we could use some rain again to keep the veg going. As you can see by these short videos of the local wildlife (not our pet dog, a dingo, perhaps) our dam is not very deep at the moment. (When it's full our dam is over 2m deep.)

13.01.2022 Some people think we sell veg grown in our backyard garden . While most veg you buy in supermarkets is grown on a much bigger farm, in a vast field of all the same crop, David grows all this variety at once, which is a great way to minimise pests and support soil condition. Other than occasionally roping in a family member to sit on the back of the tractor and plant seedlings, he does it all himself . If you'd like to know about the veg in these photos, just ask.

12.01.2022 Wishing all a happy stay-at-home Easter. David will be at Toowoomba Farmers Market 7am-noon this Saturday and at Ipswich showgrounds on Easter Sunday, 6:30-10:30am.

10.01.2022 Ipswich Showplace Market is closed tomorrow due to COVID-19 in the region. I will not be on the showgrounds at all, as they are locking the gates to make it clear the market is not on. I am coming to Ipswich to deliver veg to a restaurant around 12 noon, and I am happy to take orders this afternoon for delivery tomorrow morning. Please order via text message to 0427789116 or email [email protected], with your name, address and contact number. Please don't order through Faceboo...k comments or messenger. Depending on what orders are submitted I may organise a meeting point and time, or deliver to your door. Pooling orders with family/friends/neighbours would be greatly appreciated. I will contact you to confirm your order. EDIT: ORDERS TAKEN UNTIL 8AM SUNDAY Here's a list available items, price is $2 or as stated: Bok Choy Pak Choy tatsoi kale Sugar snap peas: small/large bags $3/$5 Beetroot $3 Turnips $3 Wombok Silverbeet Rainbow chard Salad mix English spinach mustard greens loose leaf lettuce Rocket coriander Pumpkin: jap/Qld blue, small/med/large, $2-$5 Spring onions $3, shallots Garlic $5 If there's something else you expect me to have I may have just forgotten to mention it... 08.01.2022 "Meat and Veg" Photo and caption by David . This lovely frog is sitting (and doing other things, no doubt) on an eggplant which you might buy this weekend at Toowoomba Farmers Market or the Ipswich showgrounds. This is why you should always wash your fruit and vegetables before you eat them. David does give everything a rinse after harvest, but that's really just to get the visible dirt off. Please wash your veg under running water before you prepare your meal. If you buy a ...drink or food to eat straight away the seller must comply with food safety regulations, which, even before these crazy times, meant they wouldn't be passing any germs to you. This includes cut fruit and veg. This is why David doesn't sell cut pumpkin. He doesn't have food safety certification because the regulations don't apply to the sale of fresh produce. Many people ask if our produce needs washing. YES! Not because it is covered in toxic chemicals, because it grows outside on our farm with all sorts of creepy crawlies, many of whom don't wash their hands after they go to the toilet on the lettuce. Having had my rant about food hygiene I will admit that David eats just as many vegetables straight from the ground while working (unwashed) as he does from a dinner plate! But I suspect he's built up a pretty strong immune system from doing this his whole life, so still...wash your veg! Deanne See more

03.01.2022 Find me this morning at Toowoomba Farmers Market, until 1pm.

03.01.2022 The first of the green garlic will be available this weekend at Toowoomba Farmers Market and at Ipswich Showplace Markets. It is garlic that is harvested before it's fully mature. Best consumed within a week or two, it doesn't store like mature garlic. Use the whole thing, bulb and leaf, like a shallot. Use as a fresh, highly aromatic addition to any meal in place of regular garlic. Green garlic is only available at this time of year. In a month or so the garlic will be mature and ready for it's annual harvest.

02.01.2022 In addition to the veg listed in the previous couple of weeks, this weekend I'll have golden beetroot, sugar snap peas and various hand-picked beans (butter beans, round and flat). Find me at Toowoomba Farmers Market Saturday and Ipswich showgrounds Sunday.
