25.01.2022 What a ripper sale at the Forbes sale today for these classy prime Angus cows. Returning back to the paddock, they are station mated to Marrington Shorthorn bulls and fattened on the recently flooded cuttaburra creek country. They returned $3.11c/kg and weighed 491 kg.

22.01.2022 Cattle theft - Merriwa - Hunter Valley Police District The Hunter Valley Rural Crime Investigators are seeking public assistance in relation to 25 head of cattl...e that have gone missing from a Merriwa property between March and May 2020. The cattle were on agistment at the Mount Erin Road property and during inspections it was identified there were cattle missing. Following a complete muster of the property and surrounding properties, it was identified that 25 cows were missing. These cows are between 7-11 years of age and in good condition. Of the 25 missing cattle, its understood 12 were grey (Charolais x Angus), five were Herefords, two were black Angus and one was a black baldy (Hereford x Angus). The cows are due to start calving in August 2020. The cattle have a registered brand on the rear left side with the letters RPN, with a bar over the R. The cattle are earmarked with a V out of the point of the nearside (left) ear and are all fitted with NLIS buttons on offside (right) ear. The attached photos are of similar cattle from the remaining group depicting the ear mark and brand. Investigators from the Rural Crime Prevention Team at Hunter Valley would like to speak with any person who may be able to assist with any inquiries in relation to the missing cattle, or if anyone has seen any suspicious activity in or around the Merriwa area. Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Muswellbrook Police Station on 6542 6999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
