25.01.2022 COMPLETED! Commission of three separate pastel works - Yella Tails + Echidna + Water Dragon.
25.01.2022 This is just a practice for a commission that is coming up soon. Some of you may recognise this subject. I am using only charcoal and a white pastel. This is also the first time for using a toned paper, I normally use black paper.
24.01.2022 Native Superb Fairy-wrens are such a delight to behold in our south-east Australian environs. I am stoked that Pam and Bruce Cox will be taking home this pencil composition featuring a flock of one of my all time favourite birds! Thank you for your purchase - I hope you enjoy my view of our special fauna, utilising photos I took. If you are not local you might not have a chance to get to see my show at West Gippsland Arts Centre which runs through till the end of February. But you can peruse all the work that is for sale here | https://davidalldridge.com.au/for-sale The venue is open weekdays 9am-5pm and Saturdays 12-2pm.
24.01.2022 Look out it’s Bat Cat.
23.01.2022 Final touches being added to ‘Koala In Rain’ pastel and pencil piece, before framing for forthcoming solo show at West Gippsland Arts Centre in Warragul | Wednesday 29th January till Sunday 1st March 2020
20.01.2022 New work reflecting upon #bushfire. #charcoal harvested from #eucalyptus trees decimated in the 2009 #blacksaturday #fires that devastated #gippsland and so much of #Victoria. The current #forestfire in #eastgippsland is an acute reminder of how vulnerable our backyard is.
16.01.2022 There's a chair in there...
15.01.2022 Many thanks to the Warragul Drouin Gazette for their feature | https://pressreader.com/article/281865825458421

10.01.2022 I think this cat may have an attitude.

04.01.2022 How to make an Artist's day! Thank you for your kind feedback about my show Lis Winkel :-) "Congratulations on your superb exhibition David. I went to Warragul with a friend 2 days ago and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved all your work but in particular the Water Dragon stood out to me. I could not take my eyes off him! The West Gippsland Arts Centre venue, the light and atmosphere enhanced our experience. Thank you and all the best." As I explained to Lis, the special rept...ilian subject has a name.... 'Grumpy' and he is a resident at Woorabinda School Camp at Lake Narracan. I took the reference photo while he was being fed, thus he was very engaged with me! Gippsland Water Dragons (Itellagama lesueurii howittii) are an intriguing subspecies of the Australian Water Dragon and though identical in morphology, they differ with slightly smaller scales and different colouring and markings. This pastel was one of three sold in a set and can be seen with its hanging partners here | https://www.facebook.com//a.44010819269/2549043695130675/ The show is on till the end of February and all the details can be found here https://facebook.com/events/s/realism-exhibition/188541435599802/?ti=cl The work that will be shown can be viewed in this album | https://www.facebook.com/pg/DavidAlldridgeArtist/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2656423741059336 If you can't make it to the show I'd be interested to know which work resonates with you - so comments are welcomed on the artwork album!

02.01.2022 I am really honoured that Lynne Huggins travelled down from Melbourne to see the show at Warragul and selected 'Cape Woolamai' to hang at her home! Thank you for your support Lynne. I truly hope you love this big pastel, based on the very special photo provided by the wonderfully talented Dale Rogers of Photo Rangers. Keep in mind if you are planning on visiting the exhibition over the weekend, that the West Gippsland Arts Centre is not open on Sundays. It is open on Saturdays from 12-2pm and after 6pm. Alternatively it is open during normal business hours week days. If you are coming in, consider grabbing a bite to eat at Albert and Smith which is located adjacent to the exhibition at the venue.
