25.01.2022 Our government needs to put Australians first and be much more self-reliant! "For nearly a decade, former Air Force deputy chief John Blackburn has been sounding the alarm, warning Australia is vulnerable to global forces because of its low stocks of essential supplies. He says successive Australian governments have failed to consider the risks of an overwhelming reliance on global trade, particularly given our geographic isolation." "A confidential report prepared for Defence just a year before the COVID-19 outbreak, provides a forecast of Australia's vulnerabilities in a global crisis." "Australian essential services would collapse within just three months of a crisis worse than the COVID-19 threat, which would put a halt to global trade."

21.01.2022 Finalising the election result is taking way too long. This is the latest offical count for Div 10 on the ECQ site. Preference counting hasn't been done yet, though looking at these early stats, if I had made a preference agreement with Ed or Alicia (and voters actually marked their ballots that way), I probably would get over the line.

20.01.2022 Hi Not encouraging news. I just been told from someone that said he was a scrutineer at pre-poll counting last night and reported that Zane O'Keefe was well ahead on 1150 and I was second on 465. The red shirt brigade was definitely making a difference getting in peoples faces with a few spiels like about being the current councillor etc. I just couldn't believe the number of people at pre-poll voting that didn't even know their division or the names of their candidates and were obviously being impressed by that spiel. Lets hope there is a big turn around from polling day count.

19.01.2022 All the major Parties are corrupt and are looking after their own interests. The whole system needs an overhaul and the only way this will get done is getting more genuine Independents as representatives first. Only then will more public exposure of corruption happen and legislative changes be made.

18.01.2022 A great bedtime story... for adults as well

17.01.2022 The Last Post and minute's silence on our driveway at 6am, followed by damper and tea. Especially in remembrance of my father John, and uncles Arthur and Peter. RIP all.

14.01.2022 No need for a physical invasion. Political Parties are more than happy to sell our country and assets from under us.

12.01.2022 In the wet season too much precious rain water in north Qld is being lost into the sea. Like the original Bradfield Scheme (to dam and divert water inland), this similar proposal will create many jobs, support inland agriculture and communities, and replenish the inland Murray-Darling river systems all the way down. As you know, I don't favour or back any political Party, though something like this 'revised Bradfield Scheme' has my support. We need to spend our public money on great infrastructure projects to get our economy going again.

12.01.2022 Take the time when picking anything you buy (food or otherwise), to see if there is an Australian Made, Australian Owned, with Australian ingredients, product. Let's start looking after Australian people first.

12.01.2022 I good to see a sale actually coming back into Australian hands! Way too much of our country is owned by foreign interests and this needs to be reversed.

11.01.2022 Had a great arvo/evening supporting local businesses with friends. Lovely sunset cruise on the Hervey Bay Whale Watch - QuickCat II thanks to John, Sam, Tahnee ...and crew; followed by an always delicious meal at Cafe Balaena thanks to Dean and staff. Would highly recommend these local businesses. See more

10.01.2022 Let's restart our economy and use our taxpayer's money to invest in new Australian projects (including the Hell's Gate Dam on the Burdekin River), that will directly benefit all Australians and create many local jobs. Bypass the private banks and create a national Investment Bank by using this opportunity.

10.01.2022 Yes, many people are rightly concerned this pandemic has given democratically elected governments around the world the excuse to take a more authoritarian approach to civilian control (by passing legislation to make certain activities illegal and punishable).... and that it will be hard for them to let go of that style once the masses have just accepted and conformed to it.... under the guise of 'for their own safety'. The old saying is that if you are prepared to give up your liberties in the name of safety, you will likely end up with neither.

08.01.2022 Hi all It's official... Zane O'Keefe is the councillor again for Div 10. I've just got back from watching the allocation and counting of Div 10 preference votes. Of course many just put a 1 in their choice and didn't allocate other preferences. The Primary vote counts were:... O'Keefe 1931 Norman 1124 Wade 903 Gibson 897 (There were 2000 people that didn't vote out of the 7500 voters in Div 10). A further 240 were informal votes. After preferences were allocated the gap was similar: O'Keefe 2331 (1st) Norman 1532 (2nd) I want to thank you all very much for your support during the campaign and after. I am going to enjoy some 'retirement' time for awhile before deciding what to do next. At this stage I don't plan on contending again next time, though 4 years is a long time and you never know, I may be fired up again as it draws near.

02.01.2022 Fair and just I say. Public apathy and timid submission to unjust corporate and government coercion must be replaced by people having the compassion and guts to band together to help one another... for the common good of humanity.

02.01.2022 "If we omit details of a Declaration to the ATO or any government department, we face hefty fines or even jail time. But for Peter Dutton to forget a multi-million dollar property in his Parliamentary Declaration, nothing will be done. A huge double standard and Australians shouldn't accept it."

02.01.2022 The current crisis in Australia has been a great distraction from what's really happening in government. We have been looking at current Bills before Parliamen...t and will share items we feel are important. These will be in no particular order. 1st is a Bill to lower the voting age in Australia to 16 with children as young as 14 being added to the Electoral Roll. Lodged by The Greens. I'm sorry. But this is wrong. Not all 16 - 18 year olds are mature enough to make an educated decision about who should run the country. This is about increasing the pool of money for political parties in election funding. Just remember the $2.83/ vote to parties and candidates who get over 4% of the vote. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. https://www.aph.gov.au//Bills/Bills_Search_Results/Result

01.01.2022 We need a government (people-owned) bank again in Australia, instead of the privately-owned, greed-driven banking options that have ripped off the people of Australia and all around the world. https://citizensparty.org.au/national-bank-petition
