21.01.2022 A reminder that DCPS has assembly today at 2:30pm. Log in details have been sent out via Sentral. Please contact us if you need support. Embrace our mistakes for success is one of our top ten habits we want to foster in our students at Davis Creek. As teachers and parents we dont want to simply tell the answer. What does embrace mistakes for success look like? Sound like? Feel like?
20.01.2022 Staying in touch has been a priority during these times during this remote learning period. Please join us each Friday for Assembly. Next week our School Captains will be there with us. Our newsletter was sent out today so please take time to catch up on the latest exciting news at and beyond the Creek.... Finally I have hosting a virtual morning tea every Thursday at 9am. Please come and join me. Happy to answer questions about enrolment ,curriculum or support with remote learning. To encourage people to enrol their prep children before Aug 31st we have amazing prizes to be drawn at the parent information session in September. More information about that shortly. All details about the above can be found in our current newsletter. Please contact us if you need a copy. Next week we are looking at solving problems creatively. Finally stay home and stay safe! We miss your smiling faces and friendly hellos.
20.01.2022 After reflection from the community and the teachers we have made some changes to remote learning: - students will now log on for a guided reading session each day with their teacher. - open classroom is there each day for children and parents to log on to ask questions and seek help from the teacher about their learning in other areas.... We hope this helps our parents. Parents only need to ensure they supervise and support students to log on in time. All parents must check students are completing their work each day.
19.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, which commemorates the ongoing pain of the Stolen Generations. Saying sorry is important, of course, but we match our words with deeds. Sorry is also a promise: to fight racism wherever it lurks, and to never inflict such hurt again.... Be curious and find out what Sorry Day means.
19.01.2022 We have been working at full steam to get ready for the return of our Foundation and Year 2 children on Tuesday. The learning spaces look amazing. Please check your Sentral post today. We have developed a policy and a rigorous set of guidelines to ensure staff and students are safe during these times. If we all follow this Im confident our school environment will be a safe one. Please ensure all students are warm and have their winter uniform items ready. ... Please ring the school on Monday if you have any questions about the policy and guidelines. I have set aside 9am to 11 am to answer all questions. I want everyone in our community to feel confident with sending their children back to school. Cant wait for Tuesday!!! Weve missed our kids and the wonderful sense of community at DCPS.

Remember if you are unwell you must stay at home. Warm regards Philip Fox

15.01.2022 Wellbeing Wednesday at D.C.P.S #wellbeing #positivepsychology #berrystreeteducation During this time it is especially vital we look out for one another and take care. ... Today's wellbeing tip, builds upon us taking care of ourselves and others through practising mindfulness to support with the reducition of our levels of anxiety and worry. This could start with simply modelling to our children "I am going to take 5 deep breaths and close my eyes so I can feel calmer". TIP 1: Be the example. Demonstrate to you kids how to find a few minutes to be mindful each day. Eg. "I am taking 5 deep breaths in to clear my mind, so I am ready to start my day" TIP 2: Start small Introduce one change to your daily routine at a time. Eg. 5 min breathing exercise or a family exercise activity like Yoga. TIP 3: Explore and Experiment Find what works best for your family. Make mindfulness fit into your daily routine not the other way around. Mindfulness is a strategy of the Berry Street Education Model. Research supports the wellbeing benefits of practising mindfulness. I encourage everyone to practise mindfulness as it does help with clarity and does support you to feel calmer. A reminder that on Thursday I am available at 9:00am to meet with families. I look forward to people popping on line for a chat. It will help all of us to stay connected. The details were included in a sentral post and last week's newsletter. Please contact the school if you do not have the details. I look forward to chatting with you.

13.01.2022 COVID-19 Update July 7 2020 Hello DCPS families and friends, I am writing to update you after the state government announcement today about COVID 19 and the new lockdown in Melbourne.... I am personally devastated by todays announcement and I feel so sad for our children, parents and our teachers. I am also very concerned about the recents events that have unfolded in our community. This is our first year of operation and we all have worked so hard to create a strong and positive culture. We can and will get through this together. Lets support all of us to stay positive. Next week has been declared another week of school holidays for students. I have had no other information from the Education Department and I will inform you of what the next six weeks may mean. Until then, please stay safe and if you or your family have any symptoms please go and get tested. Take care! Wyndham is one of the hotspots with over 100 cases. It is critical we all follow the same rules this time so we can eventually get back to normal. Please stay home. If you need help or feel worried, please contact myself via the school email. We are all in this together and we care about your childs education and learning and will work hard to support their learning during these challenging times. As soon as I receive information I will communicate this to you as soon as possible. Warmest regards and take care, Philip Fox

I hope these changes will shift the load from families during these challenging times. Teachers will be conducting live sessions with your child/ ren and also there is an Open Classroom each day. The purpose of the Open classroom is the student and parent can log on and ask questions about the learning. So parents will only need to make sure your child is online ready to learn please.

09.01.2022 As we head into our final week of Term 2 it is a good time to stop and reflect. I am proud of our community and how we have demonstrated stronger together or Balitt djerring (in our local woi wurrung language). The students have returned with positivity, agency and enthusiasm. The teachers have displayed resilience in moments of significant change and challenge (keeping the focus on learning). I also want to acknowledge the parents for your home schooling efforts and trusting us with the care of your children during these uncertain times. It was wonderful on Friday to celebrate some of the learning achievements and efforts of our children. Lets have a wonderful last week of term 2 together.
08.01.2022 At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. - Respect of one another so we can create a more peaceful world. - Strive for excellence in being a person who has agency in our acceptance of difference. - Be curious and want to learn about Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - Care about the injustices of the past and sho...w kindness to one another. It is currently Reconciliation Week. Learn more about reconciliation https://www.reconciliation.org.au
07.01.2022 This week at DCPS we will be celebrating NAIDOC Week. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students and teachers to learn together about the 65000 years of history, stories and culture of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Happy NAIDOC week.
07.01.2022 Please see the message from James Merlino, our Deputy Premier. As more information is shared and what this mean for DCPS families I will share with you. Today we made the significant decision to go to Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne and Stage 3 in regional Victoria. Its a tough call but one that had to be made. Based on the advice of Victorian and national health experts, we need to go further in our efforts to drive the Coronavirus numbers down.... So what does this mean for schools and early childhood? On Monday, students and staff will continue as they have been. Tuesday will be a pupil free day for schools. From Wednesday in metropolitan Melbourne all students in p-12 will learn remotely. On-site supervision will be available for students of permitted workers, vulnerable students, and in some cases, students with disabilities. From Thursday early childhood services in Melbourne will also only be open to families of defined workplaces where the child needs care and to vulnerable children. In regional Victoria all students will learn remotely although our specialist schools will remain open for students. On-site supervision will be available for all students of permitted workers, vulnerable students and any student with a disability. Early childhood services will also remain open as normal in regional Victoria. I know this is challenging for everyone but it something we simply have to do. We have no choice if we want to slow the spread of the virus. This is all about stopping around 1 million students, their families and teachers from moving around the state. For VCE students my message is clear. You will sit your exams and you will receive an ATAR by the end of the year. I know it is challenging but we will support you every step of the way. 2020 is turning out to be a year that none us could even imagine. But if we all stick together we will get through this. Thank you to our amazing principals, teachers, and school and early childhood staff who continue to do an outstanding job in circumstances that are extremely difficult. I could not be prouder of the work you do.
06.01.2022 How wonderful to have our amazing DCPS teachers and students back together this week. It’s been a tough year and our school motto Stronger Together will always see us through challenging times. DCPS community

Our School values align strongly to the IB Learner Profile which will support our students to be internationally minded and responsible global citizens.
01.01.2022 Here is an update from our Premier. We will be moving back to a return to remote learning on July 20th. I know this was challenging for many of our families. Could you please email [email protected] any feedback about: 1. What worked well for you? 2. What was challenging for you?... 3. Any suggestions to make this better? We will be in contact for loan devices. Regards Philip Fox
