23.01.2022 *GROWTH AND PERSPECTIVE* _ During lockdown when I was unable to attend markets or a number of other things, and in between making orders and replenishing stock, I came up with a few things that I had always wanted to do and never had time for. One of those things was to build and plant a number of veggie beds. _... Tonight we eat our last peas from my winter crop , as tomorrow the dying pea and broccoli plants must come out and be replaced with beans, capsicum and squash. (Again, in between finishing off a pair of Opal earrings). Whilst watching me remove the peas from their pods, a family member wondered out loud if the effort I put into growing the peas was worth it as it seemed so much work for very little reward. That got me thinking that everyone should give growing food a try, if for nothing else to teach them the value of our farmers. _ We can truly only understand the cost of things once we have given producing them a go, then we will see if we would be happy to work for that amount of return. 22.01.2022 My client regularly goes fossicking in Lightning Ridge and other Opal fields whilst on vacation with his family around our gorgeous country. Over the years he has amassed quite a collection of stones from these fields, and approached me to see if there was some opal in the collection that could be used in a special piece of jewellery for his lovely wife. He wanted earrings that were really personal and symbolic. They needed to incorporate the opal that he had fossicked and al...so the design needed to reflect his wife's heritage. _ I could not find any 2 opal pieces in his collection that were the same colour, shape or size... this was not going to be easy. Eventually i did manage to find these 2 stones that were not really gem quality, but I could make them work in a special piece of jewellery. (This piece of jewellery was after all not at all about the perfect quality gem; but rather a piece of great love. This was all about a life of beautiful experiences lived together, and appreciation and great love for the other... how beautiful is that!) Anyhow... My client agreed to the mismatched stones in an earring design rather that a ring or necklace, as he knew that his wife would prefer earrings. He also knew that his wife would love the quirkiness of the mismatched stones, and appreciate what had gone into making the earrings. _ He was right! 13.01.2022 YAY!! Finally some good news for markets. I will be back at The Hills UPmarket when it opens up again on 27th September, Covid-friendly and at a NEW LOCATION.... Our new location is at Castle Hill Showground. Plenty of parking, and also accessed by train! (get off at Showground station on the new Sydney Metro train link). Looking forward to being there and bringing with some beautiful jewellery for your Christmas shopping needs. Please keep in mind that none of us knows what is going to happen in the long-run with any of these markets. If Covid numbers pick up again, we may have to cancel future markets, so best to get your shopping done soon to avoid disappointment. I am also working on upgrading my website to an online sales platform to help with this. I would love to know if this would be something you would welcome as opposed to having to see me in person to purchase my pieces?
