21.01.2022 I’m so sorry I have bad news There’s a problem with your baby Something is wrong You are high risk for Down syndrome... Most women in your position terminate vs There's a high chance your baby has a chromosomal condition, known as Down syndrome Would you like this resource? We can put you in touch with your local association and a local family who could support you. Take some time to read the information and feel free to ask any questions, before you make any decisions" It's NOT about being overly positive when giving a potential diagnosis. It's about neutral, objective language presented in a compassionate and supportive way. It's about ensuring you have up to date resources. It's about taking the pressure of time off parents. It's about not using skewed statistics to pressure a woman to comply with 'the norm'. If you aren't providing up to date neutral and objective information then it's not an informed choice, it's an influenced decision. 17.01.2022 Flexibility in the NDIS. It's finally starting to happen. Just in case you missed it - last month the NDIA introduced a small but important change to the IT sys...tem. The change allowed people to use their core funds across ALL core categories. No need to ask for a review just to move funds around. But the change was only made for participants who were plan or Agency managed. Well on the weekend they have made the same change for self managers. That means EVERYONE can now use their core funds in the way that works best for them. No more need for buckets ... If you want to read more on the NDIS website you can find it here (just look for the questions dated June 15) - https://www.ndis.gov.au//participants-co/using-your-budget We have explained what it all means on our website. With much less jargon. You can find it here - https://everyaustraliancounts.com.au/flexibility-and-the-n/ #NDISMakeItWork (Image description: A photo of five colourful buckets. Two buckets are sitting on top of the other three. The colours are orange, light blue, mid blue, red and green)

14.01.2022 To our valued clients, I have been updating the staff as the situation progresses and at this point, I have advised staff to not take clients to spaces with more than 100 people, maintain social distancing where possible, to wash hands frequently and if not feeling well to cancel their shift and stay home. All staff are currently undergoing COVID-19 Training so they can provide you with the best care during this time.... At this time we are not wanting to cancel shifts unnecessarily as staff will be out of a job and clients will be left without workers, but if you have any concerns and feel like you do want to cancel any shifts for now then that's ok as we understand health and safety come first. We hope you and your family are safe and well and if you need anything we are only a phone call away. From all of us here at Day & Night Support Services, stay safe and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

07.01.2022 This is Australia's first ever public education campaign showing the discrimination autistic people face on a daily basis. But that's not the only reason it's i...mportant. More than 200 autistic people and their families helped shape the campaign and its stories. Each of the autistic people featured are played by actors with autism. And every single autistic actor was paid for their time. It might sound like a small thing but for Victorians living with autism, it's a huge step forward.
