22.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 20 Todays challenge is a continuation of the Circle Defence Zone Rules in a zone or area defence are:... Eyes on the ball. Once the defender picks up their player the zone is broken Always call mine not yours. Communication is extremely important in the zone Never go backwards, only go forwards on the intercept I am now including a WD and Centre. Both players can drop back from the oppositions centre pass to form the square formation with the GD and GK, therefore the centre pass will not be defended. This makes the opposition uneasy, nervous and chaotic which is what you are trying to create. This zone demonstration is from the centre pass using all four players. It can also be put on as the ball is coming down court from transition. Remember, when zoning room is limited for the WD and Centre they then put hands over the ball keeping arms straight up like in the earlier challenge of hands over, to create a high release which is just waiting to be gobbled up by a hungry GD and GK. I love zoning. Teach players how to intercept first then you can move onto zoning. Interesting thought this. When young players are not allowed to defend one on one teach them to play the space. Did it with my two girls and it was so good to watch and a skill that remains with them during their playing career. #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow

22.01.2022 Looking for a 13-14 yr old to play this season. Put your thinking caps on and start searching .......

22.01.2022 A reminder that all registration fees need to be paid by close of business tomorrow Players cannot take time the court if fees are not paid.

21.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all of our Netball mums we hope you enjoy your day.

21.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 17 (Sorry to confuse everyone as Ive said day 18) Todays challenge is Rolling Getting Free Three Rolls:... Pivot Sidestep Dodge Rolls can be used all over the court. All players can learn to Roll. Just be aware of the drive after the roll. If players drive flat, they will end up on the sideline so encourage a diagonal drive to receive the pass. Only if the player is on the base line in the shooting circle will they mainly use the flat drive in a Roll. Roll in, Roll out..Love it! #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow

20.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 21 Todays challenge is Hedging Front defence Points to remember:... Defender sets up to create an open side. Starting position with half the body of the attacker in sight One foot at the back to stop the flat drive and the other at the half way mark of the attacker Footwork moving to encourage attacker to drive the diagonal Peripheral vision so defender can see the ball and the attacker Set up between the ball and the player. Be careful players dont set up, create an open side and the ball is coming down the open side otherwise they get carved * Make sure your team has hands over the ball with nice high arms so vision is limited. Makes their decision a decision under pressure All players can do this. Seven attackers and seven defenders. Imagine if your entire team all started on the inside and set up the opposition to drive on diagonals.GOLD Hedging people..give it a go! #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow

20.01.2022 Netball cancelled 2pm round onwards due to wet weather 24/10/20

20.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 18 Todays challenge is a Double Play Using a front cut ... Or from a stationary or static position Double Plays can be used all over the court. All players can learn Double Plays. When using the front cut on a Double Play, make sure players know which is their grounded foot. The other leg drives past the defender who has hands over the ball. On release of the ball, the attacker then receives a pass from their wing girl or guy. Note: drive close to the defenders leg to not give them room to cut off the attacker and release the ball after the driving foot has landed, not before. When using the Double Play from a static position which would be baseline or sideline, players cannot do a front cut. Best way to incorporate a Double Play is to fake the ball one way, pass and drive. Not many teams use a Double Play from the baseline or sideline, but this really is another way to have more players available in attack. #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow

Lets see plenty of RED out there on the courts and plenty of GOLD come out of your pockets. Tell everyone you know who could possibly be there. If youre not up to speed with Hendrix and his battle then check him out here... https://www.facebook.com/hendrixsheroes Hes a fantastic kid and hes truly been handed something that is completely unfair. 09.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 22 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY x (my Mothers Day firepit smoking in the background haha) Todays challenge is the use of Ba...ll Fakes and Voice Fakes A huge shout out to Katie Walker (Firebirds Assistant Coach 2020) for her amazing Ball Fakes and Voice Fakes..best in the business. The art of using a ball fake or voice fake doesnt just come with a Coachs instruction, it requires practice. Fakes can be used all over the court although we mainly hear of them being used in the goal circle. Voice Faking: A situation can occur when the player with the ball is calling the receiver onto the ball and in using her/his voice, draws the defenders off other attacking players freeing them up for the pass. Also, a feeder might draw one of the shooters down to receive a bounce pass, and literally calls down, and again the defenders believe this and is drawn down for the ball leaving a lovely space for a high ball or lob. Players can also call out the persons name they want to throw to just to draw the defence onto them allowing other attackers to be free. The voice fake can be used all over the court and must be practiced to be believable. Ball Faking: Dont get confused with look one way and pass the other. This is a trap for inexperienced players and they will struggle with this particular skill. The ball fake is again done to fool the opposition. For example, when a GA drives around the head of the circle the feeder can ball fake as though they are going to pass to the GA, drawing the defence and opening up the pass for the Shooter. Fakes can be used from throw-ins, centre passes, through the court and in the shooting circle. Ball and Voice Fakes work, so again Coaches and Players, practice makes perfect. #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow

09.01.2022 Energy Netball 30 Day Skills Challenge Day 19 Todays challenge is the Circle Defence Zone Rules in a zone or area defence are:... Eyes on the ball. Once the defender picks up their player the zone is broken Always call mine not yours. Communication is extremely important in the zone Never go backwards, only go forwards on the intercept Zoning, Area Defence or Space Marking, whatever you wish to call it is a strategy. This could be put on for a quarter or maybe every third time the ball comes down the court. Your call as to when to apply the circle defence zone. Make sure your team has a player that calls the drop back so everyone is in the loop. Zones can be applied all over the court. Full court zone, centre court press, defence circle zone and a drop back zone from the oppositions centre pass. Zoning is exciting and refreshing for players. Not only does it get ball it also encourages your team to talk and communicate on court. I believe interceptions motivate and inspire players. What better way to inspire your team by teaching them how to zone. Coaching Tip. If a team applies a zone on your team, break it by getting your players to go back to one on one.zone broken #energynetball30dayskillschallenge Enjoy See you tomorrow
