Our 'Script Review Team' (ok, yes - it is just a few of us sitting at the pub and kicking ideas around ;p), have just had our first session and again have a cracker of a performance in the planning. ... Well 2020 has certainly been a year of doing things differently and this is true also for your local Amateur Theatre Troupe. We were not even sure if we would be allowed to perform this year but, the show must go on and it will thanks to some dogged determination, hard work, intensive rehearsals and inspirational guidance by our new Director. And it certainly is different! This time we are performing a play, within a play. Our cast of intrepid thespians are having to act the parts of amateur actors rehearsing for and staging a play for a local community theatre whilst competing against a rival community theatre group. Oh yes there is a blurring of the lines between fantasy and reality here; are they acting when you think they are just being themselves? Is it life imitating art or art imitating life? One thing that has not changed this year is the abundance of hi-jinks and hilarity, confidence and confusion, ad-lib and inuendo Performances are on the Friday and Saturday nights as usual and for the first time, a Saturday afternoon matinee! No catering or bar facilities this year but BYO is welcome. Maximum 47 seats per show and 6 persons per table. So, come along to the Dayboro Community Hall and have a laugh with us (or at us ). 21.01.2022 Hi All, Just a reminder that The Dayboro Players are holding their Annual General Meeting next Tuesday and the meeting is open to members of the community who are interested in learning a bit about us, what we have done and what we plan to do. Committee positions will be up for nomination and voting in of committee members will occur on the night. Date: Tues 4th February 7:15pm. Venue: Dayboro Community Hall.... Note this is not a call for auditions, the new committee will determine what productions we will be looking at and will organise casting calls accordingly. See you there

21.01.2022 Fantastic performance with a great team. We ran 4 rotations of our Halloween pop-up show and loved every part of it. Amazing effort by everyone involved to pull it all together in just a month. Looking forward to next years.

16.01.2022 Mark your calendars now - only 47 sleeps until SHOWTIME! The Dayboro Players major production for this year is again a dinner theatre comprising of a 2 course fully catered meal with licensed bar. The performance is a brand new play titled The End of The Line. A comedic drama telling a compelling story of an historical event brought into modern focus due to mysterious happenings coinciding with the opening of a new business in the townand of course lots of laughs as t...he locals try to make some sense of it all. What is this tragic event? What are the mysterious happenings that has the townsfolk acting stranger than usual? Why is the new business relevant to it? And just what do Llamas have to do with it all??? To find out, youll just have to buy a ticket and come along for a fabulous evening of music, mayhem and delicious local cooking. Tickets are $35 per person which includes dinner, desert and the show. Bookings to be made in person at the Rendezvous café, Dayboro from end of July. Vegetarian and Gluten Free meal options will be available by request. Doors open at 7pm with dinner and show from 7.30pm.

06.01.2022 Hi all friends and followers of the Dayboro Players Well as you can see from the photo, we are not on-stage rehearsing and I am afraid to say we wont be doin...g so for a while The Covid-19 situation has caused the cancellation of the earlier planned events we were going to be doing Pop-Up shows at, and whilst our major production for the year is not slated until September, there is still much uncertainty as to when the necessary restrictions on gatherings can be lifted. Therefore, after much discussion the Committee has determined that we cannot reliably commit to producing a successful full-scale play this year and have cancelled all planning for the event. However, we are a dedicated, talented, professional, award winning troupe (ok ok we are dedicated ) and are working on ideas to still bring some Players Humour into our communities lives during these strange times. ...WATCH THIS SPACE...
