25.01.2022 This is why oil paint is so expensive.

23.01.2022 S U I C I D E prevention and awareness is what next Saturday is all about. I’m working on my chalk art design. At the moment my message is: H E L P - it’s a beautiful word. Can’t wait to be part of this event.

23.01.2022 Way cool installation from My Dog Sighs

23.01.2022 Public art. Good for the heart.

22.01.2022 My latest commission - Maria - was a surprise 60th birthday present for the subject's daughter from her son-in-law. Much subterfuge went into this surprise! I was at the party when the portrait (60cm x 90cm | Oil on Canvas) was presented, and was consequently hugged and kissed to within an inch of my life by all and sundry. "Thank you for what you have done for our family," said son-in-law.

22.01.2022 Art. Free. Kids. No-brainer.

21.01.2022 It’s blank canvas day! Here we go ....

20.01.2022 Laverne, an Eclectus parrot, overflies the photographer.

15.01.2022 I called it The Cowboy, and it was my first hand painted ukulele - oil paints and haberdashery on ukulele, more art than instrument - donated to the local Ukulele Festival for their charity auction. I painted many more ukes, but painting this one, I fell in love with that dreamy creamy background - made with soft mixing white, a green, a red and a yellow - and often imagine creating abstract paintings incorporating that dreamy creamy. I guess such concepts and dreams bubble away in the artist’s heart, just waiting for the right moment to be realised.

14.01.2022 View some wonderful drawings in this online exhibition.

12.01.2022 Start your day with a William Wegman image. Did you know that William Wegman uses a Polaroid 20 x 24 Camera for his weimaraner photographs? (The film plate measures 20 x 24 inches). He sets up the shot, takes the shot. No digital photography, no adjusting the image. Very special work.

11.01.2022 Inside fallen palm frond | Detail iPhone photo.

08.01.2022 I use my own reference photos for all of my paintings, taking hundreds of shots, and scouring the neighbourhood at different times of the day looking for that perfect photograph. Like many photographers, my camera is always handy, and a glimpse of something in the right light will lure me out into the garden. I haven't painted a bat plant (Tacca chantieri) yet, but have many great photos to choose from. This photo was taken in my back yard some years ago.
