23.01.2022 Last Tuesday the Kindy group counted their leaves on their healthy mangrove trees that they planted in early March this year. Our mum Carmen who specialises in Mangroves has taught us a lot about the mangroves and the varieties of mangrove trees. Carmen came in and was very impressed with the mangrove trees growth, each of the children counted the leaves on their plants and Carmen completed an updated report. This is a continual project for the Kindy group.

19.01.2022 A special surprise at the end of the week for the children. The Mission Beach Fire truck pulled up outside our door. The children were excited and enjoyed the visit immensely. The professionals from the Mission Beach Fire Brigade team were fantastic with the children and the children responded to their questions enthusiastically. The fire truck was a big hit, the children got to check out all the equipment in the truck including having a turn at using the huge water hose and sitting up high inside the fire truck. We thank the Team from the Fire Brigade for their visit, it made the childrens day extra special.

02.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is normally celebrated in early July but has been postponed to 08-15th November, however that does not deter us from encouraging the children to participate in Australian Aboriginal cultural experiences. The Kindy group displayed their creative skills as they created collage spiritual creatures from Aboriginal Dream Time Stories this week. They also designed their own natural collage scenes using natural materials from the environment and recycled coloured material to represent their own interpretation of colourful and natural Aboriginal culture.

02.01.2022 Last week the Kindy children enjoyed learning more about time. They also had fun with experimenting with water, continuing to learn about our world and four of the Kindy group mastered weaving with palm leaves. Some of the children initiated their own games and shared with others that showed interest too.
