Bruny Island is a spectacular island of stunning landscapes, incredible contrasts and gourmet Tassie produce. It is also deceptively large, at 100 kilometres in length, but only has 620 permanent residents! On the edge of the grand Southern Ocean lies Bruny Island. Its a place of bountiful produce, rare wildlife, rainforest and windswept beaches. Despite being just an hour and a half away from Hobart, Bruny Island seems another world away... and it is still one of our best little secrets :) Bruny Island is the place where you can also get up close and personal with little penguins, soaring sea eagles, pods of dolphins, cute echidnas and wallabies rustling in the heathlands are a few of their local friends youll meet along the way. Its also perfect for a road trip with many beautiful places to pull the car over and enjoy a picnic, including Dennes Point, Cape Bruny Lighthouse and Cloudy Bay. 16.01.2022 Up and ready. Heading to Cape Bruny this long weekend? All proceeds from our Cape Bruny Lighthouse tours will be heading to Kangaroo Island. Look for these sig...ns at all participating businesses. Grab some cheese, oysters and head on down for a feast at the Cape Bruny Lightstation, bring your picnic rug. On the way back drop into the Winery or Hotel for lunch. Plenty to do and see this weekend. Drive safely, be patient and be aware the island will be very busy. Some venues will have parking staff to direct you and the ferry queues will be long at peak times of the day, especially getting off the island in the late afternoons. Please help us keep our island free of rubbish and take it home with you if possible. Tour guide Grant Jennings spent much of his childhood growing up in the region demonstrating an intimate knowledge of the old and crumbling buildings on the way out to the mines. 08.01.2022 Now that some restrictions have been eased. Chris Viney at Cape Bruny Lighthouse Tours made his way down to the lighthouse for the first time in 6 weeks. Just a... walk in the park at this stage. Hopefully Ill be down next week to start getting ready for our opening, to be announced soon. Hopefully this will be in mid to late June for weekends only.
