25.01.2022 2019 Has been year of vehicle breakdowns. #Its either lack of required vehicle maintenance. #Lack of finances to carry out the basic services required.... And/Or #lack of knowledge to ensure scheduled services are carried out. For some its been an expensive learning curb. We all depend on our cars For most of us our car is our job We have to have transport to go to work, correct?!. Well, its over due time to pay a little more attention to our transports needs..... #Your car requires your devoted attention, or your technicians! Or you will be calling for an UBER For your next ride...... **What not to do.......... When you buy a car You need to service it, new oil and filter, inspect all levels, clean or replace the air filter, check your brakes and tyres, check your suspension and drive line Make sure all you lights work The basics!.... If your not sure that this is all required, Or you think that this is a bit of an over kill.. believe me this is quite normal And it all needs to be done!!! Most average vehicles Minimum service intervals should be..... Every 10,000km Or 6-12 months Unlike this poor car...... Purchased over three years ago It had just over 40,000km on the clock It has had new tyres and brakes in the last two years Which is good news But......... It now has 126,000km On the clock........ It has never had an oil and filter service done in all that time. Thats over 75,000km Never seen new oil or filter This motor was still barely running when I first viewed it, it was making some very bad knocking noises. A Severely Blocked up engine, the oil ways and all internal engine components were very gummed up, what used to be oil has turned into like Plasticine. This engine seized up shortly after viewing it, the only option is a motor transplant. Estimated at $2500-$3000k Depending on availability. An Expensive end result and yet so avoidable. My advice, service your vehicle properly, make a plan this year schedule in some maintenance.

25.01.2022 Did you ever wonder what makes cars skid, lose traction while driving on our roads and often witnessed on round a-bouts in the wet, its not always from a lack of usable tread Other wise known as bald tyres. Here are some other reasons:... #Spilt Diesel or petrol from vehicles leaking fuel. #Engine and transmission leaking oil, dripping on the road surfaces. # Ineffective/leaking steering and suspension components causing steering and handling issues. #Yes you know it... bald tyres They wont hold the road surface and aquaplane in the wet. And loads more...... All of these items are over looked Or more than likely Ignored All of them items require attention and they are a very good reason why you should have your car serviced and repaired correctly. By a registered and certified Automotive technician It is the responsibility of all car owners and road users, to Insure that their car is up to a road worthy standard. As WA does not have A once a year compulsory roadworthy Like the Eastern states does... Its falls on your shoulders its your responsibility to comply To basic road safety requirements.

24.01.2022 Revisiting..... Car’s can bite I have returned, to finish the service that was halted due to unfortunate injuries. During the service I had a close look at the space between rims and brake calliper.... I had to ask myself ... How didn’t I chop off three fingers...? I was so very lucky.... My fingers are healing well I still have residual crush injuries in the knuckles Mostly on my ring finger and middle finger, movement is getting better with exercise but the crush damage in this hand will never totally heal. Man.....Cold weather really restricts function and the middle finger becomes ice cold due to the reduced blood flow no tip On my last visit.... I carefully drove the Holden up onto my new safety ramps, these have made life a lot easier to raise up lowered vehicles, allowing me to then access the jacking points with my jack and raise the car up onto my jack stands. We located and I purchase these new additional ramps prior... to my return. Thank you for your help Genni... I took some photos on the day for you to see how little room there is between the rims and the brake callipers. That day..... That momentary lapse of attention at that moment, has irreversibly changed my life forever. Be safe people. We all get tired and worn out. Doesn’t pay to work tired Errors in judgment can happen. Its always worth spending some money on the right tools, making your jobs safer.

23.01.2022 Holden Cruze, # Callout to view an over heating issue, clients losing coolant and unsure where its coming from. On inspection the immediate visual issue was the oily build up in the cooling system. Thoughts went straight to a possible blown head gasket.... Topped up the cooling system, checked engine oil level and colour, oil was not milky. (Trade Test equipment) # Carried out a coolant system pressure test, no sign of any leaks. # Noted the after market reservoir tank and pressure cap (Dayco) # Run the engine, it ran smoothly # Carried out a TeKay Test to check for a blown gead gasket, no fault located. With the engine running at normal operating temperature, burping out all trapped air and topping up the reservoir and the thermo fans working correctly I road tested the vehicle..... With no issues...no over heating, no dash warning lights. Next: Returning to have a chat to the owner. After asking the client few questions I concluded that the issue had been a mixture of human error (not tightened the reservoir cap correctly) and the sludge had been in the system well over 12 months Possible from a previous owners head repair that wasnt cleaned out very well. I explained to the owner what he will be in for, he needs to be vigilant, keeping a close eye on his levels and hoses. The swollen hoses are due to the oil in the coolant system, it should not be in there as it softens the rubber hoses and they swell, stretch and eventually burst. All effected hoses will require replacement eventually. #### Carried out a coolant system flush Removed and cleaned out the reservoir tank, back flushed the radiator and engine block. Reassembled and topped up with some fresh coolant, system air bleed topped up reservoir and road tested So far so good, happy clients. No further issues have been reported.

23.01.2022 Well would you look at this A leaking coolant bypass hose from a Toyota Corolla in Clarkson. Would you believe this was caused by Very hungry Rats

22.01.2022 **Rust and Brakes Don’t Mix** My Client booked his Nisssn Navara in for a brake inspection before heading up north... Im sure glad he did........ The brakes were not in good order And this ute going to be towing a caravan..... *List of faults: Disc Rust build up & out of shape Seized calliper slide Dry wheel bearings Damaged inner hub seal Drum rust and dirt damaging rear shoes Contaminated brake fluid The vehicle was also missing its 4th mag rim, having the spare wheel already fitted on the left rear.... Now that could be a disaster just waiting to happen. ****Imagine Being in the Middle of no where With a puncher.... ........& no spare wheel I managed to tracked down a good second hand factory mag to suit his vehicle with a good tyre from a local wrecker, my client was wrapped, he was able to pick it up and paid the wreckers directly. *The rear leaf springs had recently been up graded to suit towing the clients pop top caravan. But the front torsion bar suspension had been left, it was a little saggy on the right front. After cleaning up the adjusters and lubricating them I reset the heights to even up the suspension. *Luckily the front rotors still had enough meat on the to be re- surfaced, they had been very hot, dished & out of shape. *Installed new Bendix 4wd pads for improved braking response and grip. *Cleaned and re-pact all wheel bearings, installed new inner hub seals. *Inspected, Cleaned out and repaired the calliper slides, applying some copper slip grease to all slides, ensured all the slide dust boots were in good order. *Clean out rust and built up dirt from the insides of the rear drums, inspected brake cylinders, cleaned up rear brake shoes. * Checked the rear brake proportioning valve was operational Lubricanted the linkages. *Once everything was all Assembly up and adjusted..... I carried out a brake system fluid flush. Topped up the reservoir, wheels on, torqued wheels nuts.... Then off to road test and bed in the Repaired brakes A big day, a big job.... the end result is my client has a much safer vehicle to tow his camper on the road with.

21.01.2022 Ford Territory brake hose replacement: New clients car has now been made safe. WA roads are littered with vehicles that have been worked on by unqualified, un trained people, lack of knowledge is putting peoples lives at risk.... There is a reason why the Automotive industry trains technicians. Trained effectively Technicians carry out safe industry practices. Its has become very common practice for the home handy person or weekend warrior to carrying out there own repairs, disregarding basic safety, lack of knowledge is a reckless disregard to road safety. Youtube had become the go to place for would be car repairers Youtube Its only a guide people! There are consequences for getting things wrong.

21.01.2022 Why is car servicing required... Well take a look..... Things get dirty and wear out

20.01.2022 UK/Euro model Ford Transit Client Reported rear brakes were making some squeeling Well. Stripped it down and viewed, yes they are done what worn out.... Those metal filings on the magnetic ABS sensor also make the system trip out Causing alternative issues And fault codes

18.01.2022 Nice & Bright 1996 Toyota Hilux Upgrade time on the rear lights.... Out with the old, in with the new. Carried out some wiring improvements and upgraded lighting this week. Installed new Narva LED licence plate light and installed new Narva LED tail lights. A huge improvement on the original equipment, no more issues dust’n dirt, bad bulbs or corroded bulb holders This oldie even sports some new LED head light globes..... Installed by the client. It certainly makes a big difference.

17.01.2022 Yes please..... Anyone have a tidy...... VW Beetle they wish to donate to me....... A project car..... I can transform it into something like this.... So I can re-live my youth

16.01.2022 Holden Commodore VE V8 SS 2007 Fault, cause, rectification. Engine warning light came on Check engine. Car was surging, hunting, running rough, not running on all eight cylinders and slightly noisy hydraulic lifters.... Inspected and located a misfire from one faulty coil, spark plugs where due for there replace by kms. When the HT leads were removed for testing two leads were found to have broken off, due to age and heat. Replaced all spark plugs, installed a new set of HT leads and installed one new coil. We added some Liquid Moly tappet stop to the engines oil, run the engine for ten minutes and the Hydraulic lifters where quiet. Good product! Connected my OBDII Reader, viewed the engine fault codes OMG..... how many misfires via No:8!!! See the photo Viewed live data, went for a road test. Carried out a cold ECU restart And cleared all stored fault codes. Nows it runs nice and smooth again. Primarily the Faulty coil, HT leads caused a misfire. The noisy hydraulic lifters caused two issues One issue is the engine wont breath equally on all cylinders Even if thats only a minor amount, along with an annoying noise. Secondly, the tapping noise is also a vibration! The engines knock sensor will pick up on this tapping, the ECU will try to fix this knock, compensating and adjusting itself as they are design to do, thinking that it is picking up combustion detonation. Wrong! So it would have been trying to retard the ignition timing and enriched the fuel mixture to remedy the knock. Along with the misfire of the coil and HT leads, what a mess. Poor car, very confused ECU. Once we installed the Liquid Moly tappet quiet product in the oil and rectified the noisy tappets its resolved the hunting and running rich issues Smooth idle and power back again with no misfires. Happy car, happy owner

16.01.2022 Heavy breathing, Nissan Patrol, 3.0ltr DDTi It is Common to see Diesel trucks with a little crack case blow by...... But this is almost a run away Diesel. The build up of condensed oil that I drained from the Pro Vent catch can was also fairly high.

14.01.2022 Tyres and Brakes So long as your having you car serviced on a regular basis you shouldnt see this kind of issue, faults can be picked up on during a service and rectified before it causes excessive wear or damage. Preventative maintenance! Does save you money in the long run. You cant stop tyres and brakes wearing but regular checks make your car safe to drive.

13.01.2022 A Sun set walk at Quinns beach, its looking like Bay watch now with the new life guard tower, very cool.

12.01.2022 Well what can I say After viewing this car today I deem it as un road worthy But I dont have the power to sticker it on the spot. The Client was notified!... This is a prime example of why Perth WA should have road worthya All vehicles should have a safety inspection at least once a year People are very unaware of whats legally required Or what dark and dangerous little secrets their vehicle are hiding! Rust.... in the main vehicle chassis, and it looks like its been bogged up before to hide the damage. Not good

12.01.2022 Perth WA, Time for safety on WA roads. Having your car inspected, will not only improve the safety of what you drive, it will help reduce accidents that are being caused by mechanical failure and ultimately save lives.... I think it is well over due, that WA brings in the yearly Roadworthys. For all vehicles, motorcycle and trailers. I drive on these roads to! As a Automotive technician It is scary to see how many un-roadworthy vehicles are driving around on our roads. Vehicles that have bald tyres and mechanical safety issues, all items that could/would have been picked up on during a service & vehicle safety inspection or a Road worthy inspection We are all deemed responsible for what we own and drive. Be safe, think safe WA Make it safer on WAs roads, have your vehicle regularly serviced and done correctly! When did you last have a safety inspection done? by a Qualified Automotive Technician. Heres just a few examples of over due maintenance

12.01.2022 Away for the morning playing on the White sand Dunes in Lancelin..... ....And what should happen on the way home just north of Seabird Pop... Top Radiator hose actually blew out I really dont like Britpart hoses Thankfully my brother inlaw was available to came to my rescue.... Cheers Jason He brought me up a spare top hose, some tools and water.... It’s a easy enough job.... Good old Landrovers We just managed to get the hose replaced snd the water topped up roadside, before it came bucketing down with rain..... Luckily there was no other coincidental head damage, caught it just in time, so away we drove back home. Once home... I did a little looking online..... as you do I liked the look of those blue silicone hoses made by Bearmach But no one stocks them here in Australia....... So off to my WA LR spares supplier To purchase another version of the Bearmach top hose that is in stock. Along with a new top housing and gasket.... Got it all installed On my next available spare time slot

11.01.2022 When things go wrong with your every day key/remote, usually you just grab your spare one so you can get off to work........ If you have a spare..... opps

10.01.2022 A little Merc Vito Van Maintenance, replacing some cracked lower control arm bushes... Next.... on the agenda will be a having the wheel alignment checked.

09.01.2022 Autumn is here 01/04/2019 Installed a Safari Snorkel to a clients 2012 Nissan GU Patrol This is the newer series four face lift model. A helpful hint For those who like to buy items over the net. Be aware:... When buying a snorkel kit ensure that you contact your supplier and quote the correct vehicle details. Make/model /year even the Vin number. The kits are very model specific, the earlier series 1+2+3 will not fit into a series 4, all the hoses and cut outs are different sizes and locations. I must say Safari make a very well manufactured kit for this model, it was very tight to install but the molded rubber hoses where perfect, with quality stainless clamps, joiners, studs, nuts bolts and screws. A Quality finish with a quality product equals and happy customer See more

08.01.2022 Oh dear oh dear, what do we have here, I can definitely think of a much better and cleaner environment to work on this old gem.

08.01.2022 BMW Mini Cooper R57 Turbo Just a few (common) issues: Coolant leaks Split pipework... Delaminated plastics. Like most modern cars these days, the components made from plastic, these items are letting everything down. Modern plastics have become sub standard. Breaks down under UV Plastic delaminates! Does not handle the heat in the engine bay. What ever happen to quality manufactured products?? There used to be such a thing as well made plastic components #Plastic Thermostat housing split on its seam welded joint, this is a common issue. #The plastic Coolant pipe from the water pump to the thermostat housing had delaminated and broken around the Oring seals Pipe Leaking at both ends. #Air intake pipe had split a joint on the tube, it had been drawing dirty dusty air straight into the turbo, by passing the air filter. Not good for the engine at all. All repaired now, luckily this hasnt caused any major issues To the engine. Happy car, happy clients.

08.01.2022 Kia Sportage suspension Worn out.

07.01.2022 You know..... what happens when un-qualified unexperienced people try to fix their own brakes and their handy work fail.... Accidents happen and people can get killed.....

07.01.2022 Well I decided to add a little bling to my wifes play toy. Just a little something different, some candy apple red to the vent fins.

07.01.2022 2007 Holden Ute V8 VE SS Replacement of rear coil springs Out with the old & in with the new, that will improve load capacity

06.01.2022 Kia Sportage suspension Front strut removed Stripping down for repairs Note the damage and wear Not new.... its been like this for a while..... owner was un aware... Even though the car pulled left while driving, had knocking noises while driving and brakes are shot... in need if replacement. When is WA going to bring in yearly Road worthys?? Some People can not be relied on to service or maintain there cars. Yearly vehicle Safety Inspections are required..... now! For everyones safety.

06.01.2022 OMG, a very sad day, 5.20pm on a Friday. Just on my way home after a long day of work. I pride myself in keeping my business Van in top condition, Ive put countless hours into decking it out to suit my work ... In a split second of inattention from another motorist It can be all undone. broadsided by a careless young driver. What is happening here in Perth People dont look Where is the courtesy on our roads We are constantly being cut off & cut up by the fast and furious This is not play station people This is for real!! When you crash it costs a lot of time effort and money to be rectified People need to slow down Always in to much of a hurry They Dont obey basic road rules And dont appear to have a care in the world. Where are their brains at??! Now Im going to be stuck without a van, this is my bread and butter. It will be in a panel shop, for who knows how long??! Self employed mobile Technician Himmmmm not happy......

06.01.2022 Vehicle Chassis rust is an issue on WA roads, its not just found on off road 4WD vehicles. Some models of car are prone to panel and chassis Rust. Faults: Breathers or drain hole blockages. (Or lack of drains)... Living near the salty coastline Vehicle usage, lack of rinsing off Poor production Poor corrosion resistance All of these areas can become an environment for rust to form. If it has become uneconomical to fix or the repairs are worth more than the car then sometimes its time to just retire the car. Its a matter of your own safety and other road users.

06.01.2022 Landrover Discover II How many times has your Landrover D2 horn button popped out because it snapped off a plastic tag/foot. Admittedly these 4wd’s are getting a little older now but they are still worth fixing. The D2’s are much so much easier than the newer models.... Well heres a mod thats a permanent fix and she works a treat. A $5 micro switch a little soldier and 1/2 an hour on a Saturday morning. The factory or aftermarket online alternative new buttons start at around $195 upwards Plus installation.....

05.01.2022 Common Holden ‘04, V6 Corrosion causing multiple leaks, Top coolant housing leakage, gasket failure. Swollen hose and lazy spring clamps. Pressure cap leaking due to issues with corrosion building up and distorting its seals. ... Next thing to leak in the near future will be the water pump. Drain the system of old acidic water and add new anti freeze. See more

04.01.2022 Diesel issues anyone? I have a Client who changes his diesel filter every service..... Each time it’s contaminated with iron sands, not sure where he’s getting his fuel from. The iron sands are not being drawn in via the tank breather as Ive improved that with a double filter system, gas cap has a good seal. It has to be getting in via re fuelling it... If that stuff gets into his injectors they will be toast.... Toyota Landcruisers V8 Diesel $$$$$ ouch very costly See more

04.01.2022 New addition I have Installed some new forward facing safety work lights. In my trade it pays to be seen as it can be high risk. Prevention is better than an accident. Great new addition ... Thanks Suzette from Acot500 See more

04.01.2022 Nissan Patrol 2008 After servicing a clients Nissan I reported both front hubs were leaking diff oil..... Not abnormal but, these had both been recently re kitted by a suspension specialists. I recommend the client return to Repairer to have them review there work under warranty, I was informed there had been a few other issues with previous repairs done for the client and he was not keen to have any further work done by them.... Fault, cause, rectification I reviewed the leaking axle seal. The leak was caused by old damage to the axles seal surface, scoring from possible contaminated oil, possibly water damage and there was also housing damage. The housing damage was caused by someone trying to incorrectly remove the seal with a screw driver, this scored the housing and caused damaged the outer casing of the seal that was installed previously. They should have used the correct seal removal tool. The repair required a new half shaft and two new seals along with some minor housing repairs. It pays to look for causes of leaks before trying to rectify it with a kit and use the right tools.

02.01.2022 Toyota RAV4 2011, Looking after the clients best interests. During his standard oil & filter service with my 40 point safety inspection items were picked up that needed attention. #Client car had a slight surge/misfire, Caused by spark plugs fowling up, replaced plugs before the coils starting overloading.... #I had noticed the head light lenses needed cleaning up, UV fading plastic, this is another service that I offer. See the before and after photos. #The automatic transmission oil looked rather brown, this also required servicing. Trans oil drained, pan removed and clean, cleaned off the magnets that trap metal particles. Replaced the pan gasket, assembled, added New trans oil Run up to operating temperature Topped up and road tested, What a difference to drive. Happy car, Happy client.

01.01.2022 Heres one for you, what goes grindy grindy fizzle fizzle and causes warning lights to come on your dash....... .... weekenders Thats all good, it keeps me in a job

01.01.2022 Hi everyone out there I hope your all feeling healthy, keeping safe, obeying the social distancing rules and continue that good Hygiene With the onset of winter there are a few sniffly noses and some sneezing going on out there.... Take a break and keep it at home if your unwell. Its now up to all of us to help keep the infected numbers down so we dont over load the isolation wards. If we can all slow the spread of virus down it will give the medical professionals time to find a cure. I am still here, currently my operating hours are much the same as usual, just call me if you need Automotive assistance within my local area. Be safe and drive carefully out there.....
