24.01.2022 Well that’s not year anybody wants , lots of people have used the break in fishing to get their gear serviced, personally I’ve been affected by this Covid crap more than most and in every way possible without going into detail ......but I hope everyone has the best Christmas possible , I have enough reels to service until I have a break and will be back servicing from 15th of Jan, I will do emergency work if you drop your Stella in the drink . 19.01.2022 Ceramic bearings arent the be all and end all and they need lube just like any bearing , ceramics are hybrid bearings as the ball carrier is still metal and rusts , these bearings were used in a bait caster , both were gear bearings so no advantage being ceramic and as they werent lubed both are rusted

19.01.2022 What to do if your not using your fishing reels over the next few months or any time you take a break from fishing 1. Remove reels from rods . 2. Gently rinse with warm water for a few minutes to dissolve all salt and let them dry well. Why ? Heres a common thing I find , rods left rigged up with braid can keep salt in the braid where it meets your line roller and will start corrosion , that in turn wears on your braid .... 3. 18.01.2022 Not often I recommend anything but this park is owned by a fishermen friendly owner , key was left out for us as we arrived late , they had selected a cabin that gave us the easiest boat parking and as it was a cold wet night they even had the cabin heating on for us 10/10 https://whpark.com.au/

14.01.2022 Serviced my first electric Tanacom 1000’s today , so I’m confident with servicing these now , even upgrading one to a carbobtex drag , while leaving one with a standard drag and I’ll wait to get feedback on any improvement in drag performance

04.01.2022 Ok something I get asked a lot is how often do I get my Shimano Tiagra serviced , well from lots of experience any reel not older than 4 years you can expert a straight forward service , should be as new after that with little chance of any corrosion , after 4 years and up to 6 years old and never serviced you can expect the drag will be dry and needing grease and there will be signs of rust and corrosion around the ratchet clicker and possible corrosion in the pinion bearing... , leaving it over 6 years , definite rust in ratchet and a very high chance of side plate screws being corroded in and may snap off when trying to remove them , can lead to new frame being needed . To be safe and keep your Tiagra in as new condition and keep its resale value I would recommend every 3 years or for example yearly in charter boats and every second year for heavily used reels if the drag performance stays constant Cheers Dazza See more
