25.01.2022 Gentle Sunday morning jog through some of the hidden northern beaches bush. Wallabies, border collies and this little fella too. Good spotting by @kit.

24.01.2022 First serious obstacle training work this year. The body aint what it used to be, but check out that Spear throw :) Thanks again to @Burns Outdoor Obstacle Training for the day. I will be back :)

24.01.2022 Not the full story I dont think. I need to make sure I have my watch on for all sessions :) . 2020 will be bigger and better I am positive. Goals Total distance 2020km, Active hours minimum 366, Active days 314. Elevation is difficult one to predict, but lets aim for 35000m just because its more than 2019.

24.01.2022 Not trail, not OCR - to me this is next level and certainly not my plans. Swinger on the back here is my slightly older but looking far more flexible than me brother, who has scared the crap out of his mother more than I have.. Awesome footage.. #notforme #nextlevelcrazy #doshitwhileyoucan

22.01.2022 Busy day exploring and testing the knee

22.01.2022 Feeling a bit overdressed doing a park run in my Spartan Beast T shirt :) Slow MAF HR attempt.. well for the first 4.5km. Then picked up the pace to finish strongly. Last one for the year, at some point I may want to push myself harder on these runs, but for now, its about clicking over the kms, and having some awesome fun doing it.

22.01.2022 Two events in one day ? I did say events, and not races. 7km Sun Run Saturday morning, Dee Why to Manly. The second year I have encouraged Lynda to the start and finish line. A very warm morning, followed by some niggles during the race, led Lynda to believe she was not going to beat her 2019 time. The plan was to finish and finish well, with bigger events for her to conquer in the coming months. To her surprise she did a 2m30 sec PB so it all ended well. Home to refresh a...nd then head off to the Sydney Trailblazers 'Last Man Standing' event, that had kicked off at 7am. Approx 5km loop with a decent climb that over 45 people started. Every hour on the hour you got to start a new lap, alternating the loop direction. Goal for me was 2-3 laps, and I started at 1pm in the heat (over 38 degrees) of the day while there were still 8 or 9 guys in the mix to win the event, having already completed 6 laps. The heat was a huge factor, so in the interest of staying relatively healthy, I just did the two laps. Fantastic event, that raised over $5000 for the RFS. Well organised, and supported by the TB group. It went so well, there is talk of making this an annual event. Congrats to all that did 1, 2 or 12 laps in that heat. So two events, two medals- one for finishing, and my first ever DNF medal :) Thanks Scott, Penny and ALL the TB guys and girls who got this event happening, and @Simon Hamilton for helping out with the event logistics stuff. 21.01.2022 Its been a while since I posted on this page, not a lot of trail or OCR happening in terms of events for the foreseeable future. Ive had 3 events cancelled (no others booked), but was also planning to sign up to a few more to ensure I got a start. So what are the plans. My Fitness training sessions @DB Health & Fitness has been put on hold. Not something I wanted to do, but something I felt I needed to do, given the current spread of COVID-19. Today was an adhoc run - just ...had to get out there to try and keep a base level of fitness. Was I fast ? No !! Did I get a PB ? No !!!.. Did I pause my watch accidentally ? YES.. did I care ? NO ! It really was about getting outside in what I call my backyard, well its close enough. Hopefully we can all still do that without getting to total lockdown in the next weeks. Was out for 2 hours in total and came across about 8 people so isolation rules were totally obeyed. Who knows how long if i can do this next week ? By the way, the plan was to do about an hour, but I just felt so at ease, that I kept finding out and backs and loops to extend the session. Strava says 11.34km - Pretty sure due to watch pause it was over 13km, but do I care NO Get out there and get some stuff within the govt guidelines if you can. At a maximum I would run with one (maybe 2) other people, but if you are comfortable alone (I know there are friends who need a buddy to run with) then enjoy the down time. Stay healthy and safe everyone

20.01.2022 Nothing like consistency :) Queshies repeats with 10kg vest

20.01.2022 Last weekends medals - At least these wont end up in the shoebox :)

20.01.2022 Are you planning to do some altitude climbs in the future. Rare opportunity and ridiculous price to hear from some of the best in the business. Follow the link below for more info

18.01.2022 Awesome waterfall just down from Scenic World

18.01.2022 Beer Mile - an event that i heard about some years ago. Simply - Drink a beer, run 400m, drink beer 2, run 400m, drink beer 3 run 400m, drink beer 4 run the final 400m (4 beers, 1600m). Not really a bucket list event for me, so went into it without any specific event training ( probably not the smartest move). Up against some seasoned beer miler Sydney Trailblazers, the objective for me (as in most events) was to complete the course. A few local rules were explained just b...efore the start to adhere to otherwise a DQ was coming your way. ie. 330ml bottle OR cans at a minimum, empty bottle to be turned upside down on your head to prove all beer was consumed. stay on track (dont cut corners), and most importantly, if you throw up, before you cross the finish line the last time, you are DQ;'d also. I completed the course at a snails pace, finished last across the finish line, but I do know there were at least 1 DQ due to the other rule (must be minimum 4.6% alcohol), so Im claiming a top 10 finish. Certainly not an event you want to go into unprepared. The winner was just over 8 minutes I believe, so pretty quick ! I was probably around the 15-16 minute mark for those who are interested in that sort of stuff :) Im also pretty sure, all beer consumed stayed consumed :) See more

17.01.2022 A few photos from the weekend

17.01.2022 When you cant run but you can row and do upper body stuff.

16.01.2022 Easier to share than pull bits out of.. as i say at the start - read on or skip, its a little longer than some of my posts

09.01.2022 2019 - The year, the decade almost over. Not as many 'medals' or certificates as in some years, and while they give you something physical to remind you of your achievements, it is certainly clear to me that it is more about the inner you and psychological journey that gets you to the finish line. I probably trained as much as previous years, but certainly took some time out to recover from the longer events. Who knows what 2020 will bring, a few same old, but hopefully a few new challenges as well. I guess FB will remind me of this post in 12 months time, and I will be able to reflect on it then. "New year, new me" doesn't really sit well with me, but if this time of year helps people reset their goals and look for new challenges, then I am ok with that too. HNY to everyone

06.01.2022 Tackling a Park Run - So Friday was by my terms 'a back to the 80's lunch. To be honest it was mostly people I worked with in the 80s and 90s at some point, so it really was about reminiscing. So why not have a lunch that went for 6 hours or thereabouts. Anyway, I got out today as planned. Was it pretty? - no! was it fast? a big NO !! Was it fun ? mostly not ! Did I get it done - YES ! The point here is I had gone into Friday having had a run session in the morning knowing t...he lunch was happening. I also committed to get my ass out of bed Saturday and 'pay an additional cost' for the lunch. Certainly cleared the cobwebs and while I was well within the comfort zones in terms of times, I got it done. This time of year is tough if you enjoy the socialising. Its generally not great for your health and you certainly need to ensure you don't over indulge. For me, also on the back of 6 weeks of food, wine and little exercise while on the road to Tassie its certainly a test of will power to 'get back on the fitness horse'. With still 25 days until Christmas and 3 functions next weekend its going to be challenging times ahead. If anyone is interested in keeping on top of their fitness over the next month please message me via Facebook. Check my DB Health & Fitness page for more details about the sessions I am now running.

05.01.2022 Its been a while for a number of reasons, primarily lack of events leading to 5th football comeback frm June 2020. All was going well until a minor hamstring (reason for previous retirement) issue, and a pretty painful knee event resulting in my walking aroun with a knee I couldnt straighten for 10 days.. For those technically minded - Right knee Medial meniscectomy and Chodnroplasty For those who dont want to google it Meniscus repair and cartlidge cleanup of arthriitis. ...Outlook is good - time will tell however so starting rehab tomorrow.. 2021 will be better for so many more reasons. Hope everyone is well

05.01.2022 #nextlevel Todd
