14.01.2022 OK ...here it is...I have chosen to keep quiet since my last overnight talkback shift at 5aa on February 25th. I have been nothing but stoic and supportive of Fiveaa, because I wanted to be invited back.....but that is as likely as the Crows winning the Premiership this ridiculous year,...... The backlash was enormous when the station decided to get rid of me as a presenter, and scrap weekend midnight to dawn sessions!......( because it was not earning any revenue for the sta...tion).....i kept a low profile..., but despite everything I was accused of orchestrating an online campaign against Fiveaa, which did not happen. I actually defended their decision, but it got me nowhere. Instead, I was accused of turning listeners against the station. It was suggested to me that I somehow arranged listeners to complain to the station, even though I kept to myself after I learned I would not be doing any more radio shows after Tuesday February 25....I was not even given the opportunity to say goodbye to those who featured in our on-air conversations for three years every weekend.....I did not do anything.....I disappeared and kept to myself....I was happy to wait to see if any opportunities presented themselves....Not likely!. I doubt I will ever be invited to be part of Fiveaa's lineup ever again....The only ones that seem to hang in there are those who don't rock the boat, or who sit on the fence during talkback sessions or who prepare self-indulgent pre-recorded segments.....safe, boring talkback....that's not me...it was spontaneous and raw radio talkback.......no producer....just me and people who would call.....I had a lot of fun...and made a lot of good relationships...based on speaking my mind, and listening to people be honest with us....... rather than agreeing with as many people as possible. I know what listeners prefer....they want someone with flaws and who admits he is not a perfect person.........and they want someone with an opinion....tell me I am wrong. Anyway, I was lucky to have the opportunity...it was really good genuine radio talkback.....I know you miss it as much as I do....most of it now, is pretty ordinary if you ask me., and I know not having someone there overnight affects every radio session during the day......Thankyou for listening to me while I get this off my chest......Miss a lot of people who meant a lot to me.....Love being a part of Fiveaa , but I will be waiting for a long time before I play a role again.....their loss and ours.......rather be an honest presenter than a fence sitter. .Regards......David Bruce.
