Change is great. We are excited by the innovations and ideas QicWorks have used to make a software system that delivers reporting for us from the field and will make scheduling, time, cost reporting and job data collection easier. The integrated training matrix module is my current favour...ite with a staggering time-saving impact. QicWorks developers have given their attention to solving the niggly bugs in other software we complained about. Getting rid of the poor design in other systems that creates mundane scanning or data entry as a workaround, the frustration generators in other workflow systems. QicWorks have been happy to wrestle with them - truly collaborative not the automated email response linking you to FAQs. When COVID-19 hit Australia in March, boiler making and welding opportunities in the Illawarra reduced with some apprentices finding themselves at risk of not being able to fullfil their requirements. But connections made through the region's peak industry network allowed one second year apprentice to continue learning h...is trade. Todd Methven has been pursuing his dream with Bulli's DBC Group Australia, which serves industry customers with maintenance at height and in confined spaces. Business manager Michelle Noble said Mr Methven came to DBC directly from school as an Irata rope access technician trainee. But watching tradesmen on staff he took a keen interest in boiler making. The company was eager to help him realise that dream because of his enthusiasm and commitment. "Todd did some training one evening a week at TAFE and did really well and wanted to do it as a trade," Ms Noble said. So we put him on as an apprentice boiler maker. But when COVID hit things quietened down, so we reached out to Ventia (previously known as Broadspectrum). "They were enthusiastic and amazing. If things are quiet at DBC Todd will go and spend the week with them. It has worked out really well for everybody. "He is a great apprentice and we didn't want him to miss out on the training he deserves. He has an amazing attitude and willingness to learn. Over the past six months Todd has spent time with qualified boiler maker tradesmen at Port Kembla learning his trade skills. Illawarra TAFE have also been wonderful. It has been a tough year for them as well with a lot of learning being done online." Ms Noble said what DBC and Ventia have done during coronavirus was a great example of how businesses can come together to ensure young workers get all the experience, training and mentoring they need to excel in their trades and are not lost to the industry. ...

01.01.2022 Our next IRATA rope access course commences 5 October 2020 in Bulli. Internationally recognised training in the Illawarra: DBC provide training and assessment for IRATA rope access at our training facility in Bulli NSW. 4 days practical training followed by 1 days independent assessment.... The cost of training and assessment is $1,760 (incl. GST) per person. Our training tower is outside in the fresh air, among the trees, in the sunshine with ample space to allow all candidates to achieve the required physical distance whilst training. We also enjoy the benefits of having a large indoor training classroom too. DBC has processes for controlling the risks presented when people join our team for training. These include obtaining declarations from people joining DBC to ensure we contain any added risk of exposure to COVID 19. We will ensure anyone who joins us understands all their responsibilities under DBCs COVID 19 plan. At our Bulli training facility we practice social distancing at all times; follow hygiene protocols; regularly clean surfaces, equipment and vehicles and follow DBC SWMS controls on our site. Free online hygiene training is provided to all IRATA candidates as part of the DBC induction. Established in Wollongong in 1998, DBC pioneered the use of rope access trade services for heavy industry in NSW and we continue to provide local jobs for rope access technicians. Our courses are presented by professional rope access technicians who work in the industry.
