22.01.2022 Hi everyone, our next Advanced DBT session is this Friday, 11th August, at 11.30am, at Bardon Hall, our usual venue. We will be talking about the DBT skill of Radical Acceptance from the Distress Tolerance module, and the Non-Judgemental skill, which is a core Mindfulness skill. Please let me know if you are interested and not already on the list - this is a revision session but it will be suitable for people who haven't learnt these skills yet, as well as our DBT graduates.... Looking forward to this. Warm regards, Bridget

16.01.2022 A common question for people considering DBT is "What is a skills training group actually like?" Very good question and here is your answer! https://www.bridgethoggpsychology.com.au//What-happens-in-

13.01.2022 What does the "D" in DBT mean? Bridget explains... https://www.bridgethoggpsychology.com.au//What-does-the-D- This gently worded song by India.Arie illustrates this concept so beautifully. I hope you enjoy listening to it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HUju5DDOns

13.01.2022 Good morning on this beautiful chilly Brisbane day! The next meeting of our Advanced DBT group, Onwards and Upwards, is planned for Friday August 11th, 9.30am for a 9.45am start, going to 11.45am. Venue is the Bardon Hall as usual. . We are planning to revise two important skills, Radical Acceptance from the Distress Tolerance module, and Non-Judgmental Stance which is a core skill from the Mindfulness module . Most participants at our last session identified these as trick...y skills to implement, which they most certainly are, and I hope that a revision session will help place them more towards the forefront of the mind! Please let me know if you would like to attend. Note that this session would be suitable for those who have not yet learnt about Radical Acceptance as we will be reviewing the basics of the skill before delving deeper! Very best wishes and keep warm! Bridget

11.01.2022 NEW DBT SKILLS GROUPS STARTING SOON! Hi everyone, we have shared some absolutely awesome experiences in our skills groups so far this year. Distress Tolerance start on Tuesday 10th October. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in participating or just would like to find out more. Concessional rates are available for people who wish to repeat a module - this is highly recommended, both from DBT research and from the experiences of our own participants! I am really looking forward to getting these groups underway! Warmest regards, Bridget

11.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended our Advanced DBT session - "DBT - Onwards and Upwards" last Thursday. It was great to see you again! I presented a story about someone experiencing upsetting and difficult emotional fallout for several days after being criticized at work. We worked in groups of three to identify DBT skills and strategies that might have been useful for the person to use in that situation. There were similarities and differences in skills selected, which pro...mpted an interesting and lively discussion. I hope it provided useful revision and re-booted brains in a DBT direction! Next month we will work on Reality Acceptance skills and Non-Judgementalness, among other things. Looking forward to it! Yours in Wise Mind, Bridget
