25.01.2022 Join the DCBC Committee! As a Volunteer you can play a major or minor role in your child’s basketball club. Parents and volunteers are essential for the day to day running of the DCBC, and your involvement as a parent will be greatly valued by your child and all members of the DCBC community. To put it simply, the club can not operate without those who put in their time and effort to help run the club.... Your child’s interest in sport will be greatly enhanced and their connection with the club community made stronger through your active engagement. We have the following roles vacant on our committee and we cannot run effectively or efficiently without filling these roles ASAP. - Secretary - Uniform Coordinator - Grants Sub Committee If you are able to help out with any of these roles please contact the Club President via email [email protected] or Vice President via email [email protected]

20.01.2022 This is GOOD NEWS! After years of wrangling, lobbying and getting funding from the Andrews Government ($12.5m) work is soon to start on the redeve...lopment of the Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre, adding extra courts (Including a much-needed show court with retractable seating) new entrance, improved access and more! This could not have happened without the support of Diamond Valley Basketball Association, including the hard, determined work of members of their former executive, Steve McCabe and Joe Crupi. Their new executive led by Stuart Callaghan is working just as hard to ensure this development is the best it can be. It’s been terrific to have Cr Grant Brooker’s support and advocacy. Danielle Green MP - Member for Yan Yean and I have been working with (and pushing!) Nillumbik to make this happen for 6 years. We’re rapt it’s finally on its way! See more

19.01.2022 LAST WEEKS: Autumn 2021 Registrations & Credits As advised previously, registrations for the Autumn 2021 season, commencing February 2021, are now open. You can register your children at https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/register/1a7b52. # Registrations will close on the 21st December 2020... Regarding credits for fees paid for the Autumn 2020 season. # Request for credit/refund must be received by 14th December 2020 **Any request after this date will not be entered into.** In line with the structure and fees paid per family for the A2020 season, a credit towards next season will be applied on a tiered basis, as follows: 1st Child: $135 2nd Child: $85 3rd Child: $35 4th Child: $0 2nd Game: $0 Go2020: $0 These amounts factor in the cost to the club such as team entries (non-refundable), games played training venue hire and administration costs. The cost to DCBC per child for the season played is roughly $130. If any family would like the amount as a refund, there will be a $10 administration fee. **All requests for credit/refund must be emailed to [email protected]** with as much detail as possible of your request, *eg you registered 2 children in A2020, credit for both towards 1 returning.* Please be aware that this is the first season where the Basketball Victoria registration fee will be charged. This is an amount that is paid once every 12 months per person. If you are playing multiple competitions, the first registration for a competition when this fee is due will collect this money. It does not go to the association but directly to Basketball Victoria. There is a corresponding reduction in registration fees charged by Diamond Creek Basketball Club (DCBC), but this is offset slightly by cost increases.
19.01.2022 Basketball Victoria COVID-19 Update - Monday 11 May The Victorian Government today announced some gradual easing of restrictions for Victorians that will come i...nto effect on Tuesday 12 May from 11:59pm. While basketball is a predominantly indoor sport, there are a number of ways that people can participate in basketball activities utilising community accessible outdoor courts and open spaces. Importantly, this must be done with a maximum of 10 people in any group activity, with no contact permitted, and applying social distancing and safe hygiene practices at all times. We appreciate the announcement doesn’t allow for the use of indoor venues, however, we will continue to work with government to institute the appropriate guidelines that will see a return to indoor basketball at some stage in the very near future. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to be active through basketball outside in a safe and respectful manner under strict compliance with the governments new restrictions. For further information on our COVID-19 updates for leagues and domestic basketball, visit the Basketball Victoria website - basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19

07.01.2022 UNIFORM UPDATE The uniform shop will be open at Community Bank Stadium this coming Tuesday 12th January from 5:00pm to 6.30pm.
07.01.2022 Well it has been nearly 9 months since we last stepped on court and while we are not quite there yet, we are very close. As it stands, Diamond Creek Basketball Club have decided to resume full competition with the beginning of the Autumn 2021 season starting February 2021. Diamond Creek Basketball Club will not be participating in the remaining scratch matches offered by the DVBA. As a result, Diamond Creek Basketball Club will carry forward fees (exact amount to be decided) ...from any Diamond Creek Basketball Club enrolment in Autumn 2020 into Autumn 2021. We know that kids are itching to get back into activity but its important to understand that most kids have not been active in their normal manner for nearly 9 months. Basketball involves a lot of stop/start, change of direction movement that puts a high level of strain on the knees and ankles. After 9 months of very little to none of this sort of movement its really important to slowly introduce our kids back to this or serious and long lasting injury can result. Therefore, between now and the start of the Autumn 2021 season, we want to get our members back on court in a safe and steady manner. To do this we will be running a reactivation program which will operate from ? through until the end of the year. We are aiming for the program to be twice weekly sessions of 45 min split by age groups (As at 31st December 2020) as follows: * 11 & Under - 5pm - 5:45pm, * 13 & Under - 6pm - 6:45pm, * 15 & Under - 7pm - 7:45pm, * 16 & Above^ - 8pm - 8:45pm ^Dependant on Government restrictions around 18 and Under At this stage we are looking to run on Monday & Tuesday and are hoping to keep costs to $2 to cover court hire. We are still working through the specifics with numbers, court availability, COVIDSafe plans, etc however we are looking to get expressions of interest in these sessions. If you are interested in your child attending these sessions please email [email protected] with the Name & Age of each child interested. We are currently limited to 20 participants per session.
07.01.2022 Some great progress in week 2 of our Reactivate program.
07.01.2022 A message from DVBA We are very excited about the Victorian Governments recent announcement on the next phase of easing restrictions! This next phase will allow the return of DVBA domestic competitions after the school holidays, along with strict guidelines to ensure the safety of all members. Basketball Victoria have publicly promoted the 13th of July as their target date for recommencing competitions. They are working persistently with other indoor State Sporting Organisati...ons (SSO) and the State Government to achieve this. If the target date of 13th July (Term 3) is achieved; it will be our Junior Domestic teams that will be put to competition first. June Newsletter out now https://loom.ly/PNUjxv4

With tentative optimism we should be looking forward to a Term 3 restart for our game. We will be in contact with all members once details are finalised so please keep an eye on our social media pages and of course your emails. The info provided will include relevant detail as to the requirements of club, members, families and friends to ensure the safe return to basketball.
