24.01.2022 Men’s Sheds do so much in our communities to bring people together, help them feel good about themselves and maintain an active body and mind. The sheds themsel...ves may be temporarily closed as part of the response to COVID-19 but the mission of helping people stay connected does not change This week the Governor-General spent time talking with the Australian Men's Shed Association about new initiatives to help members stay connected through this time. It is important for all Men’s Shed members and indeed all Australians to stay connected. Call or message your mates and make sure they are doing okay.

23.01.2022 Yes KMG Team we are 3 years old today. On July 3rd 2017 the first KMG Job was done and since then we have completed 209 jobs and would you believe grossed $20,000, today's tree trimming job yielded $60 bringing the total to exactly $20,000. Thanks to you all for your contribution to the KMG program, may we continue to provide a community service, enhance the reputation of the Diamond Creek Men's Shed and provide revenue to the DCMS.... 19.01.2022 A fantastic Christmas in July at the shed today. A full roast with all the trimmings then plum pudding and trifle. The man in red also appeared giving sweets to all the good boys. A big thank to Ken and his assistants for all the effort they put in

16.01.2022 Urgent Special Bulletin for ALL Victorian Sheds The Premier of Victoria has just announced a lockdown for the Melbourne Metropolitan area and the Mitchell Shire as from midnight the 8th July 2020 for six weeks. The safety of our Shedders, of our loved ones and those living in our communities is crucial to our overall health and well-being. The VMSA recognizes that the closing down of our Sheds in the above Metropolitan areas and the Mitchell Shire may place additional stress on some of our Shedders and their mental health and well-being. These are trying times for us all and we will get through this with your help. If any Shedder needs help please contact: Lifeline 13 11 14 for crisis support chat. The VMSA sincerely thanks ALL SHEDDERS for their perseverance and ability to cope with the pressures and many changes that this Covid 19 pandemic has brought to our lives in the last 5 months. The VMSA would also like to remind ALL SHEDDERS to please keep up the regular contact with your fellow Shedders through phone, or out on exercise walks or when shopping for essential items, or letters or dropping off cards, or via e-mail, zoom or skype or Facebook or other means. The VMSA is pleased and most grateful for the care and contact in the way that Shedders kept up in contact and cared about each other during our earlier lockdown for which the VMSA received an award from The Australian Men’s Health Forum. Keep up the great work Shedders. Please ensure that your Shed is regularly inspected for security purposes and that any security systems are working. For any further information please contact the VMSA, mob. 0408 465 228 or the President of the VMSA on 0408 343 531. Lindsay Oates. 09/07/2020.

15.01.2022 Hello Sheddies, Newsletter Special Message from the President 09 July 2020 We finally managed to get the Diamond Creek Men’s Shed open again last Tuesday, with 19 members turning up for our first session of what we hoped would be the Post COVID era. All members made a great effort to abide by the restrictions in place. One, upon finding he had a sniffle on the morning, did the right thing and stayed away. Everyone dutifully filled in his COVID Agreement and was subjected to ...a temperature test administered by Urs (see picture at right). The electronic thermometer was kindly paid for by Nillumbik Council. There was lots of (distant) chatter and everyone enjoyed the Fish & Chip lunch provided. Some who were unable to be there in the flesh joined in on Zoom to have a chat. This included our old mate Neil in the UK, and Sean, a potential new member for the shed. I wish to thank my fellow committee members, Graeme our newsletter publisher, the teams who have been covering the gardening/mowing/cleaning, and all those other quiet achievers who have been beavering away in the background keeping things ticking over. Without you we would not have had such a great place to return to. Now we come to the bitter bit. Driving home after our committee meeting, I heard the news regarding the re- introduction of new lockdown measures. As a result, and effective immediately. The Diamond Creek Men’s Shed is now closed until further notice. The property has been secured, and we are no longer permitted access to the property until we again have permission from our landlord, Nillumbik Shire Council. A council representative advises that since we now have an approved and tested plan in place, reopening the shed after this lockdown should be relatively painless. Some things to remember during the lockdown: Under the restrictions, our cycling & walking groups are not permitted as a DCMS activity. Obviously, everyone is encouraged to exercise as much as possible, while staying safe. Don’t forget to continue to call your shed mates to cheer them up. The Virtual DCMS chat room on Messenger is still available for keeping in touch. Weekly Zoom Chats will continue at 1pm on Tuesdays. The details for next Tue are as follows: DCMS Weekly Zoom Chat - July 14, 2020 1:00pm Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/95306228193 Meeting ID: 953 0622 8193 Password: 523646 Until we talk again, I hope you and your loved ones stay safe. Look after each other. Kind Regards Mike Densley President Diamond Creek Men’s Shed 0408 874 414 See more

11.01.2022 Having this idea and organising this project on behalf of the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people. Here is ...one of them, Frank Kollwitz a member of the Diamond Creek Mens Shed, Frank has been an amazing help with the project. Here is a few photos of a model tram Frank built replicating our tram. The time and effort that has gone into it is amazing. Thanks for all of your hard work on the project Frank, and thank you for the replica tram. It is my pleasure knowing you Cheers Josh

09.01.2022 President’s Message 28th June 2020 Hello Sheddies & Supporters, I do hope you have been reading right through to the end of the newsletter each week. The limericks and jokes always give me quite a chuckle. Two jokes in last week’s newsletter raised more than a chuckle for me; the one about the breast strokers, and the one about the McDonalds drive-through. Both struck a chord, and I had tears rolling down my cheeks! Thanks to the contributors. Thanks also to Graeme who puts i...n so much effort in publishing weekly. When do we get to reopen the shed?, I hear you say. When we are good and bloody ready!, I say. Not quite! Here is the current state of play; Last Wednesday Jon Miller, representing Nillumbik Shire Council, met with representatives from local community groups to discuss the council’s plans for reopening community buildings. He presented a document containing guidelines & requirements. Ross Isaks attended representing the DCMS, then reported back to a Zoom Committee that evening. The committee then formulated a revised opening plan, and submitted it to Jon for comment. Last Friday, with NSC’s blessing, the committee met on site at the shed to refine the plan, and make physical adjustments to the layout. Next Tuesday (June 30) we are meeting on site with Jon to discuss our plan, and to fine tune it as required. The best outcome would be that we are given approval on the spot to reopen the following week. A more likely one is that we may have some more hoops through which to jump. There is also the possibility that the state government may have to re-impose further restrictions. As I said last week, keep breathing in, and out,..don’t whatever you do, hold your breath. As usual, there will be a DCMS Members Zoom Chat this Tuesday at 1:00pm. Details below; Jun 30, 2020 13:00 https://zoom.us/j/96021874988 Meeting ID: 960 2187 4988 Password: 106462 Hope you can join us! That’s it from me. Enjoy your week, and stay safe. Best Regards Mike Densley (Virtual) President Diamond Creek Men’s Shed 0408 874 414
