19.01.2022 **JOLONG PARK AGISTMENT NEWS*** In an exciting move, Dirk Dijkstra and his team of FEI horses and staff have moved into the world class Equestrian Centre - Jol...ong Park. Dirk will head up the management of the Jolong Park Agistment Centre and provide training and coaching for all riders and horses of all levels. Jolong Park is one of Victorias most centrally based Agistment centres located in Bangholme, just a 30-minute drive from the Melbourne CBD and centrally located to A Class competition venues including Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre and Boneo Park Equestrian Centre. Dirk Dijkstra needs no introduction to the Equestrian community having been on CDI competition circuit for many years. Dirk is an Internationally accomplished horseman with over 40 years of experience in Europe and Asia Pacific. Dirk is one of a handful of Dressage riders in Australia competing successfully at the highest level as well as coaching many riders through their Dressage journeys. Dirk currently competes on his Imported Dutch Warmblood stallion AEA Metallic at International Grand Prix level and they currently boast a very impressive FEI World Ranking. Over the past month, Dirk and his team have worked to tirelessly to streamline the Jolong Park Agistment Centre and are now ready to take on new Agistees. 19.01.2022 2018 Victorian Dressage Championships... Where to start! Firstly sincere thanks to the Organising Committee, Judges, fantastic Sponsors & Volunteers for all their hard work & support in very challenging weather conditions on the Thursday & Friday especially. Extreme heat & wind saw many people pack up & head home. Congratulations to all our fellow competitors. ... Chelsea Farrugia took her lovely young 4yo German Riding Pony (Summer) to her first show and had a fantastic result taking out 3rd place. So cute seeing her tiny frame on the huge truck next to huge, roaring Metallic! She wasnt phased! She took it all in her stride and Chels was thrilled with her performance and scores. Then to our beautiful Super Stallion AEA Metallic & Dirk. Happy to report that last night they took out the 2018 Victorian Big Tour Championship with a fantastic score of 71.13% with one International Judge having him on a whopping PB score of 75.25%. I could say so much about this amazing combination but in particular there is no doubt that last nights Freestyle was a pretty admirable & wonderful effort all things considered. Thanks so much to Jill Cobcroft and Glenn Fryer for their Sponsorship of the FEI Freestyle and to the Judges for showing such appreciation and faith in what was a truly harmonious and special test to watch. There was also a fabulously fun dog race prior to the Freestyle sponsored by ANKY Australia (thanks Steph & David) which our team mascot Lillie the Golden Retriever took out a second place for her race heat and wining the most beautiful dog! Ted, Freddie & Toby loved showing her & much fun was had by all. 17.01.2022 Well for a good few years its been all about Dressage; not today! 15 yo Hudson Craig took our 6yo, 17.1hh+ Dressage gelding - AEA Marco Polo (by AEA Metallic) to Boneo Park for his first ever Show Jumping competition. I’m overflowing with praise & admiration for the way this young, talented lad, piloted our gentle & sensitive giant around Boneo Park from start to finish. They achieved everything they set out to achieve & some!... We are really excited to watch this partnership grow whilst Marco takes his mind off Dressage for a little spell & settles into life with the super chilled Show Jumping fraternity! Halle found him well & truly snoozing this afternoon which is a rare sight for Marco in the paddock! Thanks Hudson & Mia for all your expertise & care; it’s greatly appreciated & Boneo Park for always being on point in every way!! #earlydays

11.01.2022 What do you do when youre asked to present a horse in the Inaugural Elite Dressage Auction at Equitana 2018? You choose your unsuspecting, only been under saddle for few months, never been off property, lovely 4 year old Metallic (AEA Marco Polo), put him on the truck with his Sire and head for the biggest, most atmospheric show we have on offer in Victoria and ask him to shine for 5 days! We couldnt buy a more invaluable, steep learning curve & experience for a young hors...e if we tried! Marco Polo you exceeded our expectations. The bidding was very positive but we stood firm on our reserve for this young star of the future & passed him in. The bad news for prospective buyers?...his price has now doubled! Our sincere Thanks to Naomi Gollings for her immaculate care, preparation and presentation of this lovely young horse. You did Marco Polo and DD Dressage very proud...enjoying so much positive feedback on your lovely tactful & sensitive piloting of this special young horse. Now back to Astral to continue his training, steer him towards DWTS 2019 & we dare to dream about him perhaps one day following in his famous Sires footsteps on the big stage (Dirk Dijkstra Sarah Brayshaw)

10.01.2022 So..Day 3 Equitana. The things you see after 11pm in the Aqualuma Tent... The Auction horses were invited to attend an Arena Familiarisation session so we took our 4yo Marco Polo inside for a look; he got a little more than he bargained for! It turned out a few other people were invited!... Marco youve done everything weve asked so far but you drew the line at the spinning on the spot thing and getting down for a cuddle in the sawdust!!

08.01.2022 Well another very warm day of competition at beautiful Boneo Park today & a turn for the AEA Youngsters to shine. In only their second competition, our 4 year olds - AEA JAZZEBELLE & AEA MARCO POLO gave Chelsea Farrugia two super tests in the indoor for a first & second. We decided that we shouldnt expect or ask anything more of them in the heat & opted to scratch them from the afternoon classes. Chels also did two super tests on Wendy Denholms striking black Tuschinsk...i gelding Top Deck II & came away with a 70.64% & a 2nd placing. (Top effort for Debut!) Congratulations Chels, you rode them all beautifully Thank you as always to the Boneo team, Judges, Volunteers, Sponsors and our Super Star Groom Lisanne Kanis. Oh & thanks must go to our truck driver Dirk Dijkstra ...good job DD!

Metallic is incredibly relaxed & seems to be really enjoying his work as we move towards our next big comp - The Boneo Classic CDI ... Australia Day Long Weekend.... Today he was joined on the arena by his #minime protge Smithy who is trying to emulate Metallic as he learns his Prix St George movements...and doing a super job being expertly guided by Chels.

Thank you ANKY Australia for your support. All very much appreciated. Thank you to our super grooms Chelsea Farrugia & our new team member from Holland, Lisanne Kanis for ALL your tireless efforts behind the scenes and Chels your super piloting of our two 4 year olds at their very first competition. (Nothing like a deep end intr...o!) Our thanks to Deb Farrugia for plaiting all our horses whilst almost expiring in the heat! AEA JAZZEBELLE & AEA MARCO POLO definitely exceeded our expectations and we cant wait for their next show. Huge very impressive fields of young horses. Qualification for DWTS for Marco Polo with 73% and a 70% for Jazzy first round, an infinitely better test 2nd round but Judges on day 2 felt she lacked uphill tendency with her hind leg needing to come more under & lowered her score accordingly. ( please see photo) Our lovely Stallion Metallic definitely didnt bring his best game this weekend. He cant tell us why but we suspect his breeding busyness at home during the heat leading into the comp and heat during the event may have played a role in his energy levels being compromised. These factors probably contributed to some really uncharacteristic mistakes. He still tried his heart out & came home with a 2nd in the FEI Inter II, a 4th in the Grand Prix and 4th in the CDI-WLF Freestyle World Cup Final. Congratulations Dirk & Chels for flying the flag for DD DRESSAGE & making us all so proud.

A gentle warm up to start their return to the competition arena after a well earned break...not a bad effort for a couple of old boys as they prepare for the upcoming CDIs...... 1 tiny error at the end of the 2s today cost them .725 of a % to come 2nd behind Lindsey Ware & Aristede (congratulations btw!) 02.01.2022 DD DRESSAGE UPDATE: WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO INTRODUCE THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR TEAM: Chelsea Farrugia joins us in the capacity of Head Groom and Rider and we, our clients & our horses feel extremely lucky that she is on board. Chelsea has also brought with her, her own Smithy & Summer (horse/pony in training) and her lovely Golden Retriever Lillie.... Chelsea is a lovely young rider who shows great patience, perseverance, courage & skill & all with a smile Chels has worked for us previously but left to add a few more equine experiences to her CV in particular riding young Thoroughbreds at the track for a local trainer gaining more invaluable skills. We are delighted she has returned to the more refined world of Dressage! Our first show since her arrival a couple of weeks ago was at the Boneo Park Xmas Dressage Day last Friday where she rode one of our lovely clients horses (ASH Boris 10yo) in his first ever Dressage Test. Chels prepared Boris beautifully for owner Peta Roberts from Hobart & Boris took everything in his stride. (Special mention to Chelseas Mum Deb who helped us prepare and pack & plaited all our horses to perfection ) Boneo Park was bathed in Blue skies, sunshine and no wind so absolutely idyllic conditions for first timers. Chelsea Farrugia also rode our lovely 4yo Jazz/Flemmingh mare for her first time off the property and once again both did us proud. Jazzy sailed around the practice arenas as if shed been there 100x before. DWTS firmly in our sights now. Anyway we wish Chels all the best in her new role and look forward to sharing many successes with her in the future on not only her own horses but ours and our clients.
