23.01.2022 Hi again my dotty lot! Well today, i received my business cards, with a nice logo and writing, and i can braille on the back of them with ease, as they are 400 gsm laminated, which is very thick and glossy. Also, today i finished assembling 55 or so envelopes for a choir fundraiser we’re doing at dapto markets this sunday; the kit is a brailled alphabet with three little flash cards of sentences to decode, for kids or anyone interested. I can/t tell you the sentences yet, because i don/t want to give the game away! One more thing: a customer called louise sent me a deck of tarot cards to transcribe into braille. Never done anything like that before, but looks fun, and very doable. So dotters, let me know if you’d like any of the above done for you, your friends, clients, preschools etc etc ...

22.01.2022 Hi mmy dotty lot! I have just completed three lots of business cards for clients, but frustratingly, am unable to complete a larger book because of needing help with a sighted reader, whom we cannot employ due to self isolation. So ... i will put up my ten favourite podcasts for you, and hopefully you’ll find something interesting to listen to during your iso period. 1. Chilling tales for dark nights, and no sleep podcast: there are two here, but they are both professionally ...narrated, scored etc. all horror stories. 2. Loose units: this is an australian ex-cop and his comedian son, discussing how the father was in the police force, a fireman, and a few other jobs. They are fascinating and very amusing anecdotes. 3. This glorious mess: from the mamamia group of podcasts, this is about parenting and families, but also very amusing as these hosts are good, but not perfect by any means, parents! 4. Medical mysteries: is a parcast production, very well produced, about all sorts of patients, illnesses and how they are diagnosed. 5. Natural disasters: is also a parcast one, about all sorts of disasters and the stories of the people who endured them. 6. How i survived: from australia, people tell in their own words of encounters they lived through. 7. Extraordinary stories podcast: told charmingly and zanily by barry from scotland, part true crime, part family drama, some historical. 8. This american life: well produced, about life in america. Current aqffairs, personal stories, social justice, comedy skits ... 9. Most of the podcasts from wondery. They are mainly true crime, but are done as docu series. 10. Listen able: is presented by dylan alcott from australia and his mate, where they candidly interview other disabled peeps. So, i do listen to plenty more, but they are my top ten. What are some you all listen to?.

21.01.2022 Hey my dotties! Sorry i haven’t posted lately, it’s just that we’ve been doing minor renos and decorating to our house and my office, oh and ... i’ve also been a bit of a media diva. Let me tell you the story. Literally at this moment, i am listening to the abc illawarra’s mornings radio show, anticipating a little segment which happened to be live this morning, featuring my work with dealindots, our quietly in the background dog guides, and my loyal husband and tech troubles...hooter. I won’t be able to share this with you at this time, because it was live, and we haven’t worked out how to pick out the individual segment and share it. So, last friday, a man named steve from the abc happened to order coffee from a cafe which danny and i often frequent, and saw a little flyer that stu put up for us ages ago, promoting dealindots. Steve was intrigued, so rang me for a chat, and as a result of that, we met fairley hamilton and chatted for about ten minutes with her. There will be an online article i can share, with a bit of info and some nice pics of some of my equipment and the pooches. So, there ya go! See more

21.01.2022 Hi my dotty lot! I have just received my licence for duxbury 12.4 so i can now take on more complex jobs... i. Tell you, my wrists and muscle memory have. Been given a workout over the last couple of weeks, what with hand brailling a beauty and spa package brochure for a customer in queensland, and a history of the hartleys crocodile adventures park! I may also have some business cards and menus in the works ... i’ve also just mastered my little binding machine from officewor...ks, and it performs very well. I would also love to encourage you to come along the the merrigong theatre company, wollongong, to experience an audio described play/rock musical, from belvoir street theatre, titled barbara and. The camp dogs. Buck, from cockyguides.com.au, is an NDIs registered tour leader for visional impaired clients, and is able to provide transport from pickup points in sydney, so you could come down to the illawarra for the performance, touching of props and costumes, and meeting with cast and director. And, my dotties, i will be providing. The brailled menu for your included lunch at the illawarra performing art centre’s cafe. I unfortunately cannot attend this one, as i’ll be singing in mebourne at an international singers festival that long weekend, but i’ve met a few people involved with the merrigong theatre company, and i know between them and your cocky guide, buck, you will be well looked after and have fun. So, enjoy! See more

10.01.2022 Bring braille into business!! here are 3 good reasons to include braille into your product, brand or service: 1. Braille can be used to distinguish your business from others; it’s a bit of a conversation starter, looks and feels different ... just might help you stand out from the rest! 2. By incorporating braille, you are acknowledging a vision impaired customer’s right to the same information as any of your other customers. 3. And kudos to you, you are respecting the tenet ...of social inclusion. Please consider these points - let me do the hard work, so you and your customers/clientele may reap the benefits! See more

04.01.2022 The Reserve Bank of Australia has unveiled a $20 note which features three raised tactile bumps on each of the long edges of the banknote, allowing people who a...re visually impaired to easily identify the note. Other features of the note will include a millimetre-specific sizing compared to other denominations and holographic panels designed to catch the light as the note is folded. The note will go into circulation on 9 October and joins the $5, $10 and $50 notes which have all been updated with the tactile features over the past few years. This will assist the 350,000 Australians who have a vision impairment. Flagstaff's Customer Service and Receptionist Laurinda Martin (pictured) who has a visual impairment said all these little things help identify the money so much more easily now. Have you noticed the bumps on the $5, $10 or $50?
