20.01.2022 *** PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *** BALLARAT SWAP MEET 2021 CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 PUBLIC, SITE HOLDER AND VOLUNTEER SAFETY CONCERNS After consulti...ng with key stakeholders about the required COVID Safe measures for the 2021 Ballarat Swap Meet to minimize the risks to everyone’s health and safety, the Ballarat Swap Meet organising Committee has decided to cancel the 2021 event due to be held on February 26 and 27. The nature of the Ballarat Swap Meet event requires site holders, patrons and contract personnel to travel from all the States and Territories in Australia. However, with the uncertainty surrounding the Covid restrictions that will be in place on interstate travel, social distancing and reduced crowd capacity requirements in February, it will be difficult to ensure that the event will be a viable one for all concerned. In previous years this iconic event has injected millions of dollars into the Ballarat economy and the organising committee is very conscious that in making this decision, this will impact greatly upon those businesses that need it most. The Ballarat Swap Meet is the biggest swap meet event in Australia and the organisers have worked tirelessly on behalf of Rotary to bring this event to fruition for 2021.Regrettably there is not enough information and resources available to guarantee a safe event. I would like to thank all of our site holders, patrons, volunteers, and sponsors for the ongoing support. We will be starting work on the 2022 event almost immediately and expect it to be a huge one to make up for the year off! said Chairman of the Ballarat Swap Meet- Lindsay Florence. We are confident this extra time will allow our team to produce an amazing event for 2022. For more information or to register interest for 2022, please contact: Ballarat swap Meet on 0487 175 996 or Email [email protected]
