25.01.2022 We're delighted to have AUSTRALIAN Representative Neil MacNeil at the startline next year. Neil came 2nd to Ryan Crawford in the BVRT 200 miler, and achieved 25 loops last month at Big's International. We think MacNeil is primed for a big performance next year and will be in the final 5.

She completed 350km at DELIRIOUS WEST in February this year, but is itching for a delirious experience in the Gully. Lauren hopes to document her experience of the first COUNTRY QUEENSLAND Backyard Ultra and write an article for her magazine. Great to have you on board!!!

22.01.2022 The final four. This is when things get interesting, when it’s time to dig in and get ready for the battle to begin. In the two Backyard Ultras I have participa...ted in I have made it to the last four. At this moment 20 hours of running had surpassed in the intense heat, no one budging, no one winning, no one giving anything away. You feel the eyes on you as you head through the coral. It suddenly becomes quite isolating out on the loop as everyone spreads out. It becomes a game of bluff, not giving anyone a clue on how much you are hurting inside. But it comes to a point when the cracks start to appear and the disguise starts to become undone. Self-doubt can turn into negative talk, bad body language or nutrition problems can arise, but as the hours go by the bonds and mutual respect of each other strengthens and we become one. All working together to push ourselves further. The beauty of the backyard ultra is that anyone can complete a lap, the fast elite runners don’t always win and everyone is so supportive and ready to see how far they can go. I have been waiting a whole year to experience this all again and in six weeks I will be out in a new Backyard ready to push myself to the absolute limits. It may take 30 or 40 hours to get the final four but I will be there, ready to go for one more loop.

04.01.2022 Some Nanango locals came out this morning to push their limits. The loops included a stumble in the gully, a delicious fly snack, barbed wire barb lodged through a finger and a few tears. Big congratulations to Leisa for achieving her longest distance ever run, and Sue and Bec for completing their first trail run.
