24.01.2022 I have been looking through all the photos on the thumb drive you sent me from the photo shoot last year @lil_ohanaphotography oh wow there is so many beautiful shots ! I’m so great full to you and the beautiful models Jaymee Lee Harley photographed here and Rashaya Smith, Locata Major and Emily Dempsey .Thanks so much

23.01.2022 These were the first jackets I made back in 2018 when I first created Deadly Denim . At the time I was studying ,and a sole parent and my main income was Centrelink . So when I had the idea to create Deafly Denim I started off really slowly . I purchased a few jackets and a few metres of fabric from @injalakarts (letting them know what I was doing ) . I first tested the market @cinefestoz where I took about 20 jackets down to sell ,I had some deadly feedback and sales from a... group of young Indigenous film makers @gareth_weston @bonnierose.gower @kimba_benji . It has been a slow burn since then ,I really want to thank everyone on here that supports Deadly Denim ,without you this year I would never had the opportunity to grow and buy more fabrics and jackets to keep creating I think the biggest thing I have learnt from creating my own label /business is that you have to be a bit obsessed with what you are doing ,resourceful and wear lots of different hats at one time And here’s to my friends. daughter and my daughters friend modelling early days for me and her school mate and also my cousin for photographing . It does take a village and lots of free product @magpie_wild @rubylou.celebrant @sarastormphotography @tashihall See more

23.01.2022 Deadly Denim has the option to custom your own jacket through our Etsy shop link in bio This is one of three that was created today in the studio The design is by @cungelella_art Design Marapai this piece is titled marapai which means woman... The strength and resilience of our grandmothers, mothers, aunties, sisters and daughters. I have depicted in this painting the pathway of hope where hope is renewed, I have painted the symbol of love, a mother and her baby in a cooloman and her digging stick on the other side which she used to provide fruits and berries for her family, women are also depicted around a campfire. I was raised in a family of 11, seven being women, our mother taught us to be resilient, kind and empathetic. This represents all women we are strong and we are the life givers. Glenda from Cungelella art .

23.01.2022 All of our Deadly Denim shopping bags are one off . A local op shop collects jeans that are damaged and heading to the rag bin for us . We love collecting them every few weeks and giving each pair a new life ,pairing with amazing designs like this one Marapai by @cungelella_art . The inside of our jean bags is a recycled Coles hessian shopping bag . You can find a range of these one off bags in our Etsy shop . ... I painted the artwork connection during the height of COVID 19 during 2020. My inspiration for the artwork was the way that we were able to slow down and connect with each other in way that enabled us to be present and appreciate our time together in a new way. Mikayla King

14.01.2022 Q&A with one of my favourite Yorgars in businesses, she has been so generous with sharing her knowledge with Deadly Denim ,collaborating and even catering for our launch night back in 2018 Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming Bindi Bindi Dreaming was first established in 2000 but was slowly building the business while in full time work. Then launched fully into 2014 and still going strong today. Found my passion of continuing to share my culture and sharing back with you...nger generation so they can continue on for us. I offer workshops, on country outings and school visits to continue to share and bring many on our journey. We as Aboriginal people have so much to share so come join us. Advice to Aboriginal people wanting to start a business. First find out what skills or passions you have, we have a uniqueness that people are seeking and so why not turn it into a business and by doing something you love. Ensure you surround yourself with positive people and people who support you wholeheartedly. Non-Aboriginal people are coming to us to learn and truly understand our culture and people, invite them and bring them on the journey. Why not even go in partnership with them if it feels right and it will help bring about Reconciliation. Bindi Bindi Dreaming was winner of Business of the Year in 2017 at Perth Naidoc Awards and 2019 winner of United Nations Awards for the Gender Equality category. Recognition of these awards has heightened and I’ve seen much more demands to seek our business for a cultural experience. Mostly my passion is working in schools and with our youth to carry our culture on well into the future @tashihall

09.01.2022 Deadly Denim donates a % from each sale to Rhodanthe Lipsett Indigenous Midwifery Charitable fund .(RLIMCF) . This year we have donated close to $2000 with your support . When I started Deadly Denim I was studying midwifery and passionate about increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwives . To bring a culturaly safe space to have someone caring for women who understands the connection to country and culture and the wholistic approach to health . I...’m embarrassed to admit that when I first started studying midwifery I dint know the stats were so high here in one of the safest countries to birth for non Indigenous women that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mother’s are two -five times more likely to die during pregnancy and child birth . RLIMC vision is to help increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwives through providing scholarships to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwifery students to help complete and remain in the profession. You can follow them on Insta and FB and there is a link in our bio to DONATE . Every dollar helps https://www.facebook.com/IndigenousMidwivesRLIMCF/ Photo shoot kindly done by Remote area midwife Andrea Mitchell in Mt ISa QLD . 04.01.2022 Q&A with our Deadly followers continues . This is Eloise @eloisewhat and her dog George Who are the traditional owners of where you live ? The Whadjuk people of the Nyungar nation ... What values or qualities do you admire in others ? I really admire people who are comfortable and confident in their own skin (something I’m forever working on). I also admire honesty and kindness. What do you wish you knew more about ? Everything? But mostly I want to unlearn everything I grew up being taught about feminism, body image, world and local injustices/ inequalities, etc. I’ve already learnt so much in the past few years and want to continue that journey! Do you have a special place in Perth that makes you feel at peace, if so where ? Anywhere I can go for a walk near water (river, ocean, creek, etc) with friends, family or my dog George makes me feel happy and grounded
