You're all gonna cop the blame if the police find out." - Teddy. ... Teddys dad left when he was four years old, abandoning him, Arcadia and their mum. When Teddy was eighteen, his mum took her own life. This led Teddy down a dangerous path, turning to crystal methamphetamine as a way of coping. Teddy and his best friend Kai, both with little education, motivation and no life goals, choose a life of drinking and drugs. We are excited to announce that following our January 2020 season, "Rattling the Keys" will be performed by Theatre Travels in Sydney at the Old 505 Theatre as a part of their No:Intermission festival in April/May 2020! With over 550 worldwide submissions, Zoe Muller's "Rattling the Keys" is one of eight national and international plays being performed in this one act play festival. ... Its not like were kids anymore, which means sentences are even harsher. The judges wont be lenient with us, not for slaughtering a kid. Kais older brother Tommy is in jail for killing a boy with a punch to the head. This event has left a burden on his family and Kais biggest fear is ending up like his brother. So when a kid is dead next door, and Kai cant remember what happened he is worried about the truth coming out. With a history of ice use, Kai knows that the police will be eager to blame him and Teddy for Tysons murder but he is determined to make sure that Billy, Ashton, and Arcadia arent wrapped up in this mess too. Production title will be announced at a later date!... ROLES AVALIABLE: *No previous experience required! Aboriginal male aged 14 21 (stage age 16) A young Aboriginal boy who is discriminated against by the town he lives in. Mysterious, brave, cool. He is emotional but tries to hide it. Asian male aged 14 21 (stage age 14) A cricket loving, superhero obsessed Vietnamese boy. He is quirky, cheeky and loves to swear. Caucasian male aged 14 18 (stage age 14) The narrator of the story. He is book smart, but awkward and tries his best to fit in. Adventurous, compassionate and naïve. Caucasian female aged 14 17 (stage age 14) A young girl with a troubled family. A boy is lying dead next door, a blood stained knife sits incriminatingly in their living room and only one of them knows who did it.... During a long oppressive heatwave, a teenage boy is murdered next door and Teddy and Kai, both under the influence of crystal methamphetamine, think they may be responsible.
