Location Perth, WA Reports to IRO Team Leaders and Community Services Manager Direct Reports Nil Salary SCHADS Award level 2 or 3 dependent on experience. Plus generous salary packaging. The WA Deaf Society is a state-wide non-profit organization whose services for Deaf people are funded by government grants, appeals and contributions from donors and supporters, income earned from investments and fees charged for services rendered. As an Information and Referral Officer, you will report directly to a service team leader or manager and be responsible to support both consumers and staff by providing information and undertaking referrals of clients to mainstream services in support of their needs. Key Accountabilities Liaise with and communicate information or advice to clients and other stakeholders, including government, non-Government and community agencies in relation to private profession, court personnel and third parties in relation to WA Deaf Society clients. Support mainstream funded organisations who aim to assist WA Deaf Society clients. Assist in the preparation of community education materials including co-ordination of events and provision of services to the community as required. Provide high-level clerical, administrative support to ensure the delivery of appropriate and efficient client services to the maximum extent within available resources; Provide accurate data entry in WA Deaf Society systems. Key Challenges Deal with clients and third parties who may sometimes be distressed or demanding (both face to face or by sms/telephone) while remaining composed and providing sound and logical assistance. Undertaking all work in an accurate and competent manner. Managing the requirements of WA Deaf Society with the requests of stakeholders. Key Selection Criteria Mandatory: 1. Demonstrated understanding of the issues which face people who are deaf or hard of hearing experience. 2. Demonstrated experience in a not-for-profit and/or disability sector organisation. 3. Experience in customer service including a friendly, approachable and professional manner. 4. Skilled with the use of internet, email systems and MS Office programs. 5. High responsiveness to email and other enquiries. 6. Good communication skills including Auslan, and an ability to use an interpreter. 7. An ability to utilise person-centred and family-centred approaches. 8. Demonstrated ability to organise work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines. 9. Current driver's licence. 10. Current Police Clearance no greater than 6 months old and ability to obtain a Working with Children's Check if required. Key External Relationships The Deaf and hard of hearing community Government, non-Government and community agencies Decision Making Accountable to their service team leader or manager for delivery on assigned outcomes. (PWdWA) is the... peak disability consumer organisation in Western Australia. We are seeking a suitable person to provide independent, issue based, one to one advocacy for people with a disability. We require a person with a demonstrated understanding of human rights and issues based advocacy who is confident working with people from a range of diverse backgrounds and can work with high levels of autonomy. Experience and understanding of the issues affecting people with disabilities (including mental health issues), their families and carers is desirable but not required for applicants with the right skill set and a willingness to learn. The successful applicant will work from an office base in Nedlands and work a minimum of 60 hours per fortnight. The contract is for 12 months with the option of extension dependant on funding availability.
