This year, we celebrate a humanitarian leader helping the next generation, a parent who designed robots to help sick kids in school, a lawyer who followed her passion for chai, an architect designing sustainable buildings, a team of scientists improving lives, and an entrepreneur who has raised millions of dollars for people in need. 21.01.2022 Deakin alumnus, Mark Sullivan received the Alumni Community Service Award 2019 for his outstanding contributions to community, and work in eradicating the neglected diseases which bring misery and illness to at least a billion people worldwide. 21.01.2022 Congratulations Saifuddin Bin Ahmad, on being awarded as one of our Deakin University Alumni of the Year 2020! Saifuddin is dedicated and takes a lot of pride in his outstanding work. Saifuddin is an outstanding architect and firm Director of SNO Architects based in Malaysia. He has over 30 years of experience and is a leader in innovation and environmentally sustainable buildings, with energy efficient designs.... 16.01.2022 Congratulations to Dr Ben Hindson and the 10x Genomics team of Deakin Alumni: Dr Joshua Delaney, Dr Adam Lowe, Dr Chris Hindson, Dr Geoff McDermott and Dr Jessica Terry for being awarded as Deakin University Alumni of the Year 2020! This is the first time that we have awarded a team during the Alumni Awards. It is a great story that you are all working together and this is a credit to all of your contributions. Ben Hindson is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of 10...x Genomics in California. Not only has Ben has shown outstanding entrepreneurial success in science, but as a team, you are changing the world together. 10x Genomics has been listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market and has grown to over 700 employees who all share the vision of addressing the true complexities of biology and disease. 14.01.2022 Congratulations Megan Gilmour, on being awarded as one of our Deakin University Alumni of the Year 2020! Megan’s mission is to help seriously ill children. Her drive and compassion is evident and her story is so inspiring. Megan is the Co-founder and CEO of Robots4Good, and the internationally recognised not-for-profit, MissingSchool.... After her own son was seriously ill, she saw first-hand that children with serious illnesses were being left out of classroom life and isolated when they could not attend school. Megan empowers these children by placing robots in schools, so they can have a presence in the classroom and are included. We are in awe of the selflessness, resilience and dedication that Justine along with her Co-founders and her team, have shown. They make the impossible become possible. Justine is Co-founder and Brand Director of Thankyou, a social enterprise that commits 100% profit to helping people in need.... Thankyou has raised over $17 million to get safe water, toilets and child and maternal health programs to the most vulnerable in the world. Uppma shows passion and determination evident through her business and her commitment to pushing for true equality and diversity. Uppma became an accidental entrepreneur when her side hustle prompted her to take the leap from corporate lawyer to pursue her passion for chai. ... She built her company, Chai Walli from the ground up and has won many awards for their masala chai and tea range. Amenthi has dedicated her life to help others and her compassion, her leadership skills, and her strength is evident. Amenthi is a humanitarian aid worker who has headed World Vision Sri Lanka's Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs team. Amenthi Jasinghe, has worked with World Vision in Mozambique, Nepal and South Sudan, Plan International in Sri Lanka, and Motivation Ch...aritable Trust, based out of the UK. She is now a consultant with extensive international development and humanitarian program experience, specialising in disaster management and grant acquisitions.
