15.01.2022 !! UPDATE ON GRADING SCHEMA SURVEY 2 !! We are sensitive to the impact of Deakins updated Grading Schema approved on 7 May 2020 by the Academic Board. The final survey report 2 can be found via this link:... https://drive.google.com//1UnKV7mgwLykRJdushFAKVKZiR/view. Notably, today we have requested a meeting with relevant Deakin University personnel to ensure we do our best to advocate for students.

09.01.2022 On Friday afternoon, the Presidents of Deakin Law Students Society Geelong, Deakin Law Students Society, Deakin Commerce Students Society and Deakin Commerce Society met with the DUSA President and the Dean of Students, Professor Lisa Hanna, to discuss the revised grading schema. Part of Professor Lisa Hannas role is to receive formal student complaints and handle them in accordance with the Student Complaints Resolution policy and procedure. More information about compla...ints, and the procedure taken, can be found via this link: https://www.deakin.edu.au/stude/dean-of-students/complaints During this meeting, we presented information from our surveys and worked alongside DUSA to communicate student concerns, advocate for an improved grading schema, and specify the need for clear communication from Deakin. 07.01.2022 After our continued efforts to advocate on behalf of our members and student cohorts to the Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University and DUSA, we wish to share the following: DUSA has agreed to take the Grading Schema issues further, specifically with a complaint to the Victorian Ombudsman about the treatment of results and the impact on students. Our respective Society Presidents have attended several meetings with Deakin University staff and DUSA and we believe this... is a positive step to take in order to receive a fair and just outcome for our cohort during this highly stressful period. The DCS, DCSS Geelong, DLSS, and DLSS Geelong urge you to consider reading the complaint and sign up to be a part of this next step. The link is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6GFGQ9L Please note that this is just the first step and does not guarantee any changes to the current system as the Victorian Ombudsman must first determine whether an investigation should be conducted into the matter. This is contingent on the number of complaints filed and the strength of the arguments presented. We wish you the best of luck for your exams and will continue to support and update you on this matter!
